Kog45:The emboldened Parts have said it all. Thanks for making very balance and objective Submissions. |
tbaba1234:Can you state your Reasons?! |
My List in Summary (1) Dele Aiyenugba (2) Ikechukwu Ezenwa (3) Dele Alampasu (4) Shehu Abdullahi (5) Leon Balogun (6) Troust Ekong (7) Ederson Echiejile (8} Ola Aina (9) Tyrone Ebuehi (10) Chigozie Awaziem (11) Uche Agbo (12) Mikel Obi(c) (13) Ogenyi Onazi (14) Karo Etebo (15) Abdul-Jeleel Ajagun (16)Wilfred Ndidi (17) Victor Moses (18) Simon Moses (19) Odion Ighalo (20) Kelechi Iheanacho (21) Olarewaju Kayode (22) Ahmed Musa (23) Alex Iwobi |
Strikers (17) Victor Moses (18) Simon Moses (19) Odion Ighalo (20) Kelechi Iheanacho (21) Kayode Olarewaju (22) Ahmed Musa (23) Alex Iwobi I do not need to make an Epistle on each individual in the striking Role, coz we already know what each of them is capable of and 90% of them are most likely to make the List. |
Midfielders (12) Mikel Obi; I wasn't a big Fan of Mikel, but I'm convinced he's a good for the Team right from the Olympic. He's the most successful Players in the Team, he's very experienced and ready to give all for the Team to succeed. (13) Ogenyi Onazi; I do not have to do much talk on him. I just hope for an Onazi of the last World Cup before the Injury. (14) Karo Etebo; His agility, pace and strength gonna be tactically useful in the World Cup against some Teams. I think he's definitely gonna be a good Addition to the List. (15) Abdul-Jeleel Ajagun; He can play as pure No. 10 and as a SS. He has played 9 Games for his Club this Season with 2 Goals to his Name. He can also play as a CM or LW. I hope he's given a Shot to prove himself in the coming Games. (16) Wilfred Ndidi; He's a proven Talent - no doubt about it. His versatility is also a Bonus to the Team. I hope he forms a reliable and formidable PIVOT with Onazi. |
Defenders (4) Shehu Abdullahi; I think he has booked his place in the Team as a reliable RB even though he plays as a CM for his Club. (5) Leon Balogun; he's a reliable Defender, a solid Leader at the Back, a Fighter and very committed Player. He deserves it coz he truly earned it. (6) Troust Ekong; he's more or less like Balogun. He's a fantastic Defender and he deservedly earned his Place on the List. (7) Ederson Echiejile; I know some Dudes would be amazed with his Inclusion, but he really deserves to be on the List. In fact he deserves to be in the first XI. I believe he's gonna come good at the Tourney, however if he fails to pick up, there is a solid backup(s) on the Bench in waiting. (8} Ola Aina; He's comfortable both as a RB and a LB. He's young and pacy, and wouldn't be surprised if he eventually displaces Echiejile in the first XI. (9) Tyrone Ebuehi; I think he's yet to make his official Debut due to tactical Reason. He's not strong enough to cope with Africa Football, but technically he's really to serve as a RB and a LB backup respectively. (10) Chigozie Awaziem; He's gonna be a good backup on the Bench, also it's an opportunity for him to gain exposure and learn from the Senior Colleagues. (11) Uche Agbo; his case is similar to Awaziem. He's more experience than Awaziem at the Club level though, hence I think he's gonna be a reliable backup CB. He's technically gifted and his versatility is a Bonus to the Team. |
I would like to suggest a 23-Man Squad for the World Cup solely based on personal observations. Goalkeepers; (1) Dele Aiyenugba; I pick him as my first Choice Goalkeeper because he's currently with a Club, he's the Number 1 Goalkeeper for the Club, he's a good Penalty Saver, and he's the most experienced aside from Enyeama. Sometimes it baffles me why Aiyenugba is being snubbed for the Call up. He's ready to heed the Call and I think he deserves to be tried. I would have picked Enyeama first, but it's unfair to select him based on past Glory. Enyeama needs to get a Club in January and proves himself fit and ready for the World Cup. Also, another Reason I couldn't choose Enyeama is simply for the Team's sake. Is he coming to dethrone Mikel as the Captain, or Dudes think Mikel could relinquish the Captaincy to him?! (2) Ikechukwu Ezenwa; he's definitely gonna be an outstanding and reliable Deputy. I think he's a good Lad, he's ready to learn and he's really improving, and I believe he's the next to take over the No. 1 Position after the World Cup. (3) Dele Alampasu; I pick the Rookie simply to understudy the Senior Colleagues for Future's sake. |
jotey: ![]() He's almost a forgotten Player for the Eagles. |
Humility017:Nice submissions from you bro, but I hope Rohr can prove himself tactically ready for the Tournament starting from the next Match, in the Friendly Games, AFCON Qualifiers and in the Tournament Proper. |
Mujtahida:Seem you expect him to request for a Tactician from the Board?! He would never ask the Federation to get him a tactics-Specialist coz he also believes in himself as a good Tactician. However, there is difference between what's good for Rohr and what's good for the Team, thus I expect the Board to do the needful in this regard - the way they did with the recent Recruitment of a Keepers' Trainer. |
Mujtahida:That's exactly my Point. |
"They must get their mind in gear as well and it's hard. They need to do little bits along the way so by the time they do get in the first team, it's all higher up. "But the more they get into it, the impact and input of different aspects of the club, makes the transition a lot easier. "It's always great seeing a youngster come through the Academy and make his debut. But it's just the start for them. The easy part is getting there, the hard part is staying there." - Nicky Butt |
"If a young boy like Marcus, all of a sudden, jumps onto the scene at 18, he has all these things going on. The analysis work you have got to do, watching videos, you have to do your recovery with the sports science team. "It's about how to cope with down time too as there is a lot of travelling and time spent in hotels. It's about having a coping mechanism. "It is all new to them and it can be eye-opening. It's hard enough purely at the first-team football level but they've got all this stuff they have got to deal with." - Nicky Butt |
Mujtahida:It's better Iwobi plays as a AM, but it seems Rohr prefers Mikel in the Position. |
Mujtahida:Lol! Did you remember the South Africa Match?! That's where Rohr's tactical weakness was exposed. Hence, I'm skeptical he won't be more exposed at the Tournament except with the Help of a tactically sound Assistant. I'm ain't saying Rohr is a bad Manager, he's indeed a very good Manager, but my point is; he needs more than Salisu Yusuf to excel tactically in Russia. |
Tactically, except we are fooling ourselves, Rohr is an average Coach. He's a kinda Coach that so much believe in Players discipline and commitment on the Pitch. A kinda Coach that would psyche up his Players to get the job done anyhow they deem fit. If we really wanna excel in Russia, I think a tactically sound Assistant Manager needs to be hired to replace Salisu Yusuf. On the Players selection for the World Cup; I think the List made by Forgiveness is almost perfect, except Ezenwa should replace Akpeyi, and Ogu makes way for Ajagun. Onazi, Ndidi, Agu, Joel Obi, even Mikel Obi and Etebo can play either DMF or CM, hence at least a natural AM is needed in the Team. I wouldn't mind if Nwakali is listed for the Tourney to understudy the Senior Colleagues at the expense of Joel/Agu. |

funlord: ![]() If the majority [Members of the Thread] consent to posting of the full Quotes, I think you gonna have to enjoy it as well. I didn't notice you've switched back to the main Account. |
I think what Funlord2 is implying is; I shouldn't be dropping all their Quotes, rather pick and drop the most intriguing Part(s) of the Quotes. He's not condemning the Job(s) I'm doing on the Thread, only asking for a debatable part of the Quotes. I fully understand his Point, also I appreciate everyone for the Compliments. |
"I think whoever says that [providing an assist was as rewarding as scoring a goal] is lying to you. "The most important and the better feeling in football, for me, is scoring a goal. Obviously, when you’ve made a great assist and you’ve put your striker just in front of the goal to put the ball in the net is a great feeling, but obviously the best feeling is to score yourself." - Juan Mata |
"Let’s say offensive midfielder [his preferred Position]. But, obviously, I am playing more now on the right-wing, when I try to come inside and create space for my team-mates, and with the overlaps of Matteo [Darmian], Antonio [Valencia] or Ashley [Young], it makes things easier for me. "And you know, it’s this kind of freedom that allows me to be in touch with the ball, that’s where I feel comfortable. As much time as I have the ball, I feel better and I feel that my game grows and that’s what I try to do. I consider myself as this kind of attacking midfielder, trying to find the gaps between the opposition midfielders and defenders and produce what the team needs between the lines." - Juan Mata |
"From what I read, I don't think he [Fellaini] can play the Match. Another one plays and it's no problem for me. Not just Ander, we trust every player. "We lost players last season and we lost players this season. With our way of thinking and feeling, it really is no problem. "One player not playing means another one plays. It's an opportunity for another one and we trust them. We never hide behind this or that player or this or that injury. We trust the ones that are going to play." - Jose Mourinho |
"One [Lukaku] scores goals, another one [Matic] is a midfield player, an anchor man. A player we always need to give us some more stability in our football. "In this moment, we are a team with good stability and control of matches. I think Matic has been important for that. We are scoring our goals and, of course, our striker and our no.9 is a man with a very strong arrival at the club." - Jose Mourinho |
"Do I like to go to Anfield? Yes, I love it. Do I like to play against Liverpool? Yes. I like amazing stadiums, the best opponents but the preparation is not different. It's just a match." - Jose Mourinho |
"It's three points not four. If we are at a moment in a season where the duel between the two teams ensures the result will mean more than three points, than yes. "Sometimes a draw or even to lose by a certain goal difference is important. In this case, it is not important. It's just a three-point match. That's the way I approach it. "It's good it's that way for me. It's good to do it without any added pressure or emotion. I have to do it always in a professional way. It's the right example for my players to prepare for the Liverpool game." - Jose Mourinho |
"It's three points [he said of the Merseyside mission]. It happened this season, an opposition player told me: 'This match for us is like a cup final and I thought: 'Pfft, why?' "When you are in a big club, when you are a big player, when you are a big manager, every game is important. You cannot look at some matches as cup finals and other matches differently. For me, every match is a cup final and I've been like this all the time." - Jose Mourinho |
Anthony Martial is happy at Manchester United amid rumours Arsenal are interested in signing him next year, reports the Manchester Evening News. The 21-year-old France international is understood to be 'very content' at Old Trafford after his blistering start to his second season under Jose Mourinho, which has yielded five goals and five assists. |
