Greatswimmer: Who will carry out the first suggestion if not military government ? Nigerian have pass through it no difference those people will always come back
Why did you suggest the second option,
I always make reference to this given the fact that some country that areligiuos are doing well but there are religious country doing well e.g Saudi Arabia, Qatari. etc. The problem is just the mindset of the citizen of this country ...ex military leaders deserve longer jail term than civilians leaders. |

afrodoc2: 1) All previous political office holders banned for life from further participation in politics. All previous Presidents, VPs, Senate Presidents, Speakers, Governors and Deputy-Governors to receive default life sentences in jail. All other office holders up to ward councillor level to receive default jail terms ranging from 5-50 years depending on how egregious their crimes are. The innocent ones are to be assumed to be guilty by association and to receive a minimum 5-year term.
2) Intra-tribal and intra-religious marriage banned for 5 generations. Punishable by life jail terms for the whole family (including house helps and gatemen).
3) Finally, Abrahamic and African traditional religions will be banned. Flouting this rule will lead to life jail terms for the whole family. Instead, a Cult of Reason will be established, in which the Goddess of Reason will be worshipped. The religious text will be known as the Book of Logic and Common Sense.
These 3 steps are pre-constitutional and sacrosanct. After they have been agreed upon the people will now have a constitutional conference to determine the fine details of the constitution.
I told you. .....I agree with first and second but third one? Mi o ni sọ ń kánkán. |

afrodoc2: When you balkanize the country what will happen when each regional leader starts “balkanising” the public funds amongst his family members and cronies?
Or an Oyo-born regional leader is performing poorly but his Oyo people keep supporting him because they don’t want an Ondo-born person to take over?
The problem is the mentality of the people and their leaders NOT the centralisation of power. There is no accountability or consequence for misrule or corruption. .....there sha must be a way to fix this country, so what do you suggest?! |

afrodoc2: Developments started in Iraq even longer. When Baghdad was the most beautiful city in the world New York was marshland with a few naked tribes beheading one another.
How is Iraq faring now?
It is not an excuse. How long matters only after considering how well, and how well depends on uniformity of purpose. As long as we have ethnic and religious divisions, and rampant corruption, come back in 200 years and we will still be struggling (if the country miraculously exists by then). ....and do you think we have hope with current system of government?! I strongly believe only way to end ethnic and religious divisions is to go back to regional government but unlike in the 60s that we had 3 Regions only.
I propose the country is balkanized into 6 and let each region control its resources. North East, North West, Middle-Belt, Eastern, Western and Niger Delta Regions respectively; and watchout for rapid developments within 100yrs in some Regions not all. |

afrodoc2: Very wrong. Was Nigeria formed when Europeans started coming over to trade in the 16th and 17th centuries?
Whites living in distant villages and settlements in North America is not the same thing as the establishment of the USA.
In that 16th century, the Netherlands controlled New York, Spain controlled Florida. France controlled Louisiana, the British controlled only the Eastern Seaboard and each British colony had its own government. That wasn’t the USA. .....but this confirmed developments don start in America tey tey nah. |

izzou: It is because these men had principles, and maybe their eye never tear. There was accountability, and we were also not as divided as we are now.
Obasanjo built FESTAC and National theatre in just 3 years as a Military president. The same project today will cost a president more than 8 years with a very bloated budget.

The USA means the United States of America. You want to calculate the establishment of the USA from when whites first started settling in small villages there. So if the ask you when the USA came into existence you would say 16th century? 😂
If they ask you when Nigeria was formed what will you say? ......don't mind me ó jàre. |

izzou: Na you dey shift post.
You said Nigeria is too big for one man. When presented with countries where Nigeria is like 3 states combined, you shifted to existence
The truth is Regional governance would be worse than what we have now.
Just yesterday, we talked about state governors. Despite what they have, none of them have developed their state to a reasonable standard, in relation to their handouts from FG and their IGR.
So what makes you think a Regional government will change anything? Oh suddenly, SE, SS and SW will become Dubai in 60 years? Na lie.
As long as there are no systems to demand accountability and dispense justice, if you like divide Nigeria to 774 countries, Nothing changes. .....simply check what each region achieved while we were practicing regional government in the 60s. How many years it took Awolowo to perform magic in the western region without receiving shishi from the centre?! |

Na simple question I ask ......US is practicing true Federalism bro. Each federating operates like a nation and independent of the Central Government to some extent. They control their own resources, have their own police and so on.
Besides, USA has been in existence since 16th century, kinda surprised you are comparing to Nigeria that's unknown until 20th century. LOL! |

Anambra State 4,844KM² 37. Lagos State 3,345KM²
The total area of the UAE is approximately 83,600km².
Nigeria is too big to be ruled by just one person sitting in Abuja with less down 30% clues of situations in the federating units.
We need to go back to regional government, if we don't want to divide the country. Honestly I do not see how this country can be developed to reasonable standards in the next 200yrs. |
