DissTroy: State governors are the real thieves. Another reason I spent as much time as I do criticising the central government criticising even my own state government.
Since 2018, I've subscribed to monthly and bi-monthly report of my state government allocations and expenditure, and local government allocations by BudgIT. Local governments earn a lot especially in the Niger-Delta, plus extra quarterly payments to oil-producing communities; all controlled by the state governors.
If you know how much your immediate past governor and mine spent on overhead cost (cost of running government), you'd just look amusingly at the antics by Tinubu's COP28 critics (who's also as guilty).
Not forgetting ~#23 billion annual security votes each to Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Delta States, all unaccounted for.
Hold Governors accountable too. ....God bless you for this post, ain't surprised your State is thriving, doing well unlike other SS States aside Rivers.
Hold your Governors accountable seems a criminal statement to make on this Platform. I see no reason why Bayelsa shouldn't be rivaling Dubai Infrastructure-wise. A State with 8LGs and bigger Allocations on monthly basis, yet her dwellers are suffering.
Aside from Akwa-Ibom, Delta is collecting more Allocations that rest states of the Federation, yet nothing to show for it. If you combine all SW together, maybe minus Lagos, Delta Allocations will swallow tneir owns combined yet absolutely nothing to show for it.
Idiotic Governor of Edo is avoiding FG Roads like plague, like it ain't his people that'll bear the pain and sufferness. Make we dey hold FG only accountable. |

izzou: The way the NA is handling what they did in Kaduna in disheartening.
No formal memo on what happened. No press statement
No apology. No visit from the COAS to the community
No heads rolling because of this. No news on compensation.
May God not let me be killed like this. ......NA is actually annoying. It takes them nothing to admit the wrong, call for probe and punish whoever authorized killing of innocent civilians.
President has given a directive that the situation must be investigated, let's see how it will end. I guess its the reason COAS rushed to the village to personally assess the situation.
NA wants Air Wing but killing civilians accidentally or not shows they ain't ready yet. |

Hopefully we will continue to get a drip drip drip of information on the fiscal discipline of Nigerias most honest and loquacious former governor. .....in 2008 Saint Peter Obi budgeted ₦2.7B for Special Security Services. Okay what was Anambra's budget for Governor's office in 2005?
Anambra is miles ahead of Enugu in development, so wetin Nnamani do gan gan?
The only contribution of Chimaraoke was be broke the old cycle of politicians and raised his boys to grow. Every single governor after him was/is his boy, even the current one. .....alright bro. Lets agree Chimaroke Nnamani is a bigger thief, but how can we justify Obi's ₦400m in 2009 budget for personnel cost?! Total budget for health was ₦1.2B, yet Obi budgeted 1/3 of it for personnel cost.
Perhaps his personnel lives matter than the entire State. |

Anyways, he said the priority for that year was infrastructure, and he budgeted 12 billion for it. Guess what? Same Nnamani is still considered a Thief. So if Obi is a lesser Thief, then Nnamani is what?! LOL!

Sad News from COP28
American oil firm, Baker Hughes, has expressed interest in investing in refineries in the country, as the federal government intensifies effort to end petroleum products importation.
Speaking during a meeting with the Minister for State Petroleum Resources (Oil), Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, on the sidelines of the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28), Mr. Lorenzo Simonelli, Chairman, President/CEO of Baker Hughes, expressed keen interest in sustaining and enhancing their investment in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, including the readiness to invest in refineries.
“Nigeria is a blessed nation with vast potentials and great opportunities in diverse sectors. As a partner with the federal government over the years, we are inspired to direct investment in the refinery domain of the oil and gas. Therefore, whatever we can do to support to get started, I am willing to do that, even now”- Simonelli (Chairman, President/CEO of Baker Hughes).
Baker Hughes is an international industrial service company and one of the world's largest oil field services companies. The company provides the oil and gas industry with products and services for oil drilling, formation evaluation, completion, production and reservoir consulting. |

GloriousGbola: this is from the file
search out makinwa - then filter out the NGO that nominated her
https://www.iccdiafrica.org/
these are all the people from that particular NGO
International Climate Change Development Initiative
outside of the executive director, no one else who went is a Bonafide employee of the organization or they do not appear on their website
they are all in unpaid advisory capacity
if i was to hazard a guess
a lot of nigerians simply used this as an opportunity to go on holiday to dubai - since it is now much harder to get a visa as a man under 40 or a young unaccompanied woman.
las las the director of the NGO will collect stray bullet for doing toke a favor.

User09: It's clear to me that the Government didnt sponsor the entire Nigerian representatives.
As someone who knows how this sort of thing works, I'll wager that a significant portion were sponsored by private entities and NGO's; There's a lot of sustainability driven initiatives in Nigeria particularly in the private sector who are really keen on jumping on these sort of things
It's also clear that the govt doesnt want to release the entire list of sponsored to avoid the same kind of reaction we are witnessing; Could be in hundreds and the detractors would still have a fair point.
Transparency and disclosures usually help with things like this. Also all this cost being set against the potential benefits by the govt would go far in easing all the noise ................................................valid. |
