The Nigerian senate is number 1 law making institution in the land, I think they're somewhat equipped to handle such issues and Akpabio has so far been evasive and exerted undue influence on the matter at hand.

Any smart person knows if you build your social proof templated on pandering to a mob, the maddening crowd owns you entirely. And would Sunday turn on you. Populism is difficult to sustain.

David Hundeyin, while a tenacious investigative journalist, lost himself to the cheers of the 'blood-craving' digital mob. Egged on by the traction and engagement metrics he was getting, he went in deeper, and was no longer David the human but a mouthpiece to speak ill about the privileged. Anything else and he's an antihero. Heck! A villian.

Reno rode on the mob appeal too until j decided to veer off. Now some hate him even more than the politicians who have looted our common patrimony. He's more hated than Yahya Bello, even.

Peter Obi is definitely realising the same thing - that he's caged by the mob. Atiku can say something good about Tinubu and get away with it. Kwankwaso can have a dinner with OUK and nobody would bat an eyelid. But Obi can't.

The few times he's said anything nice about non-LP folks, he's been criticised by Obidients. Knowing him, he'd have likely commended Tinubu for eventually paying Corpers what was promised them but if he dares, the mob would turn on him.

I understand the reason for the angst. I understand why people are angry. And it's deservedly so. But real or faux, you can't live your life being outraged constantly because you didn't get what you want.

It's probably why I abhor the Obidient tag even when I'm still rooting for Peter Obi in lieu of a better choice: It's because "Obidients", good-intentioned as some of the criticisms are, is synonymous with "mob". It's eithe ryou appeal to them everyday and time and see nothing good in other people outside of the Obi camp or you are a corrupt person who has been compromised.
