Android17: Both Buhari and GEJ did not perform overall. If you are asking which was worse, I'd have to objectively say GEJs was considering the economy he inherited and supposedly grew. The irresponsible father that could not take care of his family of 6 with 30M a year is worse than the father who could not do same with 15M a year and a family of 7. Both failed but one failed more than the other. Balance and objective. |

TrebleChamp: The Army or other security outfit are not left out, most Nigerians who have access to use guns will always terrorise and extort their fellow citizen. Nigerians are generally wicked people by nature, but i believe a strong institution is possible as seen with NDLEA of recent and NAFDAC under Dora Akunyili.... .... I get your point but it's obvious Police are the worst of all in Nigeria of today. Let the reform starts from them. Sack dem all and bring in new, well trained and equipped personnel.
Other option I agree with Roland17 is; dismiss and jail their heads found abetting corruption in the system. |

Roland17: We are punishing constables who mount the road blocks but their Oga who is aware goes scot-free. By the time you demote 3 superiors or flat out kick them out of the force then you will see serious supervision.
There is absolutely no way a superintendent is unaware. People living in the community where these checkpoints are mounted are definitely telling him about the checkpoints if he is pretending he is not getting the monies.. Demotion ain't enough to me, dismiss and jail them for at least 20yrs. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by OasisX: 6:10pm On Nov 26, 2022 |
larride: The military itself is already overstretched because they are doing the work of the police for them un some states.
Another thing is the Nigerian mentality. Give a Nigerian small power and see how he will oppress his fellow citizens. Now add the power of the gun to it. That's the scenario we are in.
Those who we are paying tax payers money should do their damn job and finding solution to this mess. ..... what's the purpose of Nigeria Police Academy by the way? What and how are they training their Students? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by OasisX: 6:08pm On Nov 26, 2022 |
Roland17: The same people will find their way back to any reformed force. we put a ton of pressure on their bosses, there will be no change. Their respective bosses should suffer serious consequences when their command is found to be putting up check points.
The problem is a lack of accountability. We have seen numerous IGs tell us check points/ stop and searches are illegals but some how they continue to happen. Until the IG through his AIGs put pressure and seriously punish erring officers then nothing will change even if you hire Ph.D. holders as constables . I agree with you. The problem is from the top and must be addressed from the top. From DIG to IG levels.... they're simply using the positions to plan and make money for retirement.
I think Police Act or whatever it is should be amended and make Positions from DIG to IG political appointments like EFCC and NDLEA. It will be easier to sack an Appointee performing below average without public outcry. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by OasisX: 5:45pm On Nov 26, 2022 |
larride: To bring in someone outside the force to overhead the police force, you will need to amend the Police Act first.
Those checkpoints are not to nab criminals, they are for extortion and the reason it's still happening is because the police top echelon cant control their officers.
PMB as the chief commander of the armed forces definitely take part of the blame. izzou: I apologise for tackling you, but it is glaring that it is now a cartel matter
The same place, everytime and nothing is happening What's the way out to solving this menace. To be candid, I'll support disbandment of entire police system in Nigeria, NSCDC and Military should take over for a while until new, well trained personnel are brought on board.
System need complete overhaul from top to bottom..... sack dem all and bring new faces, preferably graduates with at least Ordinary National Diploma. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by OasisX: 5:25pm On Nov 26, 2022 |
larride: You do have a point that our security forces are outnumbered but there are avoidable crimes that happen because they simply fail to do their job or they collude with criminals to extort those they are meant to protect.
This NPF is beyond redeemable. They should be disbanded and another police force trained from scratch. I went on Google and YouTube to get more details and it's so saddening that kinda brutality happened in daytime.
I don't know when Nigeria Police will move away from archaic checkpoints to patrolling. Honestly I don't understand the essence of mounting checkpoints on the highways, it's not working and it'll definitely can't work.
Nigeria Police need someone like Buba Marwa at this juncture. That Man has performed miracle with NDLEA, even I won't mind him to take up the challenge and fix the police system.
PMB also can't be exonerated. He has helped a lot to equip and repositioning the Military, but apparently he neglects Police Force.
Only RRS seem standard in Nigeria, rest are simply Vigilante 2.0. Izzou.... apologies for misconstrued your post. |

izzou: Sometimes, when you try to justify something, remove your bias and put yourself in that shoe.
There are more checkpoints there than most places in this country. Yet, something is repeatedly happening there.
How can you say they are outnumbered, when many roads in Nigeria dont have 1/3 of the checkpoints on Lagos/Benin expressway? Yet they are not this bad?
Make you dey use your conscience dey defemd person oh
A journey of less than 100km has more than 10 checkpoints, and we have recorded attacks there in one month. Yet, you are saying they are outnumbered.

Below is Article on Insecurity in America, published few days ago.
........................................................................................ Am I safe being in public?' For many, mass shootings make a sense of danger inescapable.
Mass shootings in big cities and small towns across the country have risen in the wake of the 2020 pandemic lockdowns. And amidst the grief and shock and loss, each one prompts more businesses, schools, hotels or nightclubs to toughen their own security responses.
And that, experts say, contributes to a simmering anxiety for potentially millions of Americans. While death in a mass shooting remains rare, public reminders of them are omnipresent. News about them is frequent. And the next one appears impossible to predict.
