NSEstudent: If people can get paid for trading their rights, then it's counterintuitive for someone to actually buy it in the first place. Investors would just trade it and then buy from the floor.
I no just understand o
I ignore all the rights issues because most of them are more expensive than SP at the times. You are not getting paid directly; you're simply trading your Rights on the floor. This usually happens when demands are high. If you ignore, they won't transfer your RIGHT to the Broker for Trading. Most Brokers know this secret. |

KarlTom: The bolded is incorrect... Whether you ignore or renounce the rights, you made a choice.
Rights are optional not mandatory... I know somebody will start an argument over this issue. If you ignore = nothing will happen If you renounce and trade your rights, your Right Shares will be transferred to the broker for Trading. Note: I have been paid for most of my Right Issues traded on the Exchange. |

Redoil: what is the benefit of selling ones right Your "right issue" will the traded on NGX, and you will be paid. It is not good to ignore "RIGHTS ISSUES" you either BUY or SELL it. |

awesomeJ: The confusing part for me in all these is: when was the exploration even done?
If before PRESCO was granted occupancy, then why grant it? If recently? How did PRESCO allow the explorers on their premises? 😁😁 Well, several oil wells have been discovered in Nigeria, but not all are ECONOMICALLY VIABLE.Edo State doesn't even have the power to take such action on Oil wells. |

SonofElElyonRet: Ok. Your argument is that the federal government should've done the revocation in such cases and not the state.. Both federal and state governments have roles to play concerning land with oil. State doesn't own oil underneath but the surface is vested in the governor vide land use act/constitution. No oil company can function without securing certain land approvals from state governments. Again, I do not support arbitrariness of any kind, if any exists in this matter I guess we all know the process of Oil-well bidding and allocation. Federal Agencies will have to verify if the oil well exists, and if Commercial Values exist, and bidding will start. A lot of ND communities are living close to Oil wells, and their Land titles were not revoked. THIS ISSUE IS NOT ABOUT OIL WELLS!There have been attacks on the palm oil plantation in recent times. |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by OBAGADAFFI: 4:36pm On Nov 27, 2025 |
SonofElElyonRet: I am also not in support of arbitrariness and high handedness. Worthy of note that Presco's statement identifies that there's a laid down process according to the law. It must be followed to the letter.. Shalom As someone pointed out earlier. If oil wells were discovered, it would now be a federal jurisdiction. The Government should not have issued the revocation. |

SonofElElyonRet: Did you read that 2 oil wells were discovered on the land The best Presco will get is compensation, which they rightfully deserve. It's called "overriding public interest" Those two Oil wells na lie. |

emmanuelewumi: Hope you remember MTN bought the defunct VGC Telecoms for some tens of millions of Naira
They could have also invested at least 1 million each, when MTN and Airtel needed roughly $300 million to start business in Nigeria.
They would have made over 20 times of that in dollars Yes, MTN also bought most CDMA frequencies. When Etisalat came to Nigeria, they offered to buy over RELTEL/ZOOM, but it wasn't successful. The death of CDMA COMPANIES was predicted, because they cannot scale up due to the licence limitations. |

emmanuelewumi: Reason why I said they did not adapt.
FCMB, First Bank, Diamond Bank, Leadway Assurance, Lagos State government, Akwa Ibom state government, Delta Government were pioneer investors in Airtel and MTN, what stops those Telecommunications companies from buying shares in MTN and Airtel when they were established They cannot adapt because the GSM(Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) licence is for the FEW BIG PLAYERS with national coverage. That GSM(Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) licence gave them massive leverage over smaller CDMA telcos. No CDMA company can get the Licence, even VISAFONE, which came later, was bought over by MTN. |

Lofty1000: You're right on this one Sometime you buy stock, the market trade to full bid but the daily cap hasn't closed yet, and no one is ready so sacrifice the 100k unit that will close it up or they are not even aware that the job is not done yet. It will be hard to do it without going out of such stock with big cap. If it were a penny that you bought like 5 to 10m units You could easily sacrifice 100k unit out of it to close up.
I would be watchful moving on. Correct 💯 |

emmasoft: You can't have access to the NASD trading platform through any broker for now. NASD is not like NGX. To trade on your own on NASD, you will need to download their app and register with your NASD details from the stockbroker you have an account with. They will link you up to the trading platform using the app after confirmation that you have an active account with a stockbroker that trades on NASD. Otherwise you will need to send your purchase/sale mandates to the stockbroker who will trade on your behalf. Not true, Most Brokers support NASD. But you have the mail to execute any trade. |
