Long over due

The Senate today under the leadership of the Senator Bukola Saraki discussed a Motion on the Unfair Trade Practices of Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOs) in Nigeria. The motion was brought to the floor by Senator Sam Egwu (Ebonyi North). As electricity generation and distribution is a crucial development determinant, Nigerians from allover the country have high expectations in this regard.

Despite privatization of the GENCOs and DISCOs, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done to ensure that Nigerians enjoy stable electricity. In this regard, the Senate under my leadership will not relent until we see and effect change in the power industry.
The debate continues tomorrow, with the introduction of another motion bordering on this issue…

He tweeted as follows
- Senate today, took Motion on Unfair Trade Practices of Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOs) in Nigeria by Sen Sam Egwu (Ebonyi North)
- Power is an important example of where privatization has happened and expectations for better power supply is very high.
- As part of oversight we will get to see what's actually happening after the DISCOs were bought to end the period of impunity regarding power
- Tomorrow there will be a 2nd motion on power. We'll also have a corporate hearing soon to find out where work needs to be done in the sector

Saraki has so much contempt for the law to the extent that he doesn't refer to the law before acting arbitrarily.
This kind of humiliation is what is needed to remind him about the concept of due process.
