OHANIVO Indigene Embarks on 670km Trek from Ilorin to Abakaliki in Honour of Hon. Kama Abakaliki, Ebonyi State – August 25, 2025 In an unusual show of solidarity, Comrade Emmanuel Okike, a native of OHANIVO Federal Constituency, has begun a 670-kilometre trek from Ilorin, Kwara State, to Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, in recognition of the achievements of Hon. Nkemkama Kama, the member representing OHANIVO Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. Okike commenced the journey at about 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The trek, described by supporters as a “rare act of bravery,” is aimed at celebrating Hon. Kama’s performance in his two years at the National Assembly. Hon. Kama, elected on the platform of the Labour Party, has attracted attention for several constituency projects, including the installation of solar-powered water pumps, rehabilitation of roads, summer educational programmes for children, and the hosting of unity football competitions. Constituents note that these initiatives have benefitted people across political divides. The solidarity trek has, however, generated public debate, with some questioning why a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) would embark on such a mission for a Labour Party lawmaker. Responding to the concerns, Okike’s media team explained that the gesture was not partisan but rather a recognition of leadership that transcends party affiliations. “Hon. Kama represents the entire OHANIVO Federal Constituency, not only Labour Party members. The time for politics is over; this is the time for governance. His projects are enjoyed by all, and he deserves commendation,” the statement read. The trek will see Okike pass through several states, navigating unfamiliar and potentially risky terrains. Supporters have called for prayers and encouragement as he undertakes the arduous journey. While political observers say the gesture highlights Kama’s growing reputation as a progressive-minded leader, others see it as a symbolic call for unity and appreciation of service delivery. Comrade Okike’s journey is expected to end in Abakaliki, where he will be received by supporters of the lawmaker.

Nigeria at 64: Na Progress We Dey or Prostate Cancer? October 1, 1960, na di day wey Nigeria born—before, we be British colony, but on dat day, we carry our green-white-green flag up, full of hope and better tomorrow. Everybody dey happy say we don get our freedom, and we fit now use our own resources to build better country. Na so dem begin dream of how education, health, agriculture, and technology go grow for our hand. Dem sing plenty freedom songs that time, praise Nigeria future. Dem believe say this small pikin of 1960 go grow become correct country wey go stand shoulder-to-shoulder with big nations. But now, after 64 years, instead make Nigeria mature well, e dey behave like person wey don catch prostate cancer—a disease wey dey worry old men. Di country suppose don dey healthy and strong, but instead, corruption don block all di important parts wey go make am grow. E be like say Nigeria no fit even stand gidigba anymore, even though e get plenty resources wey never tap finish. Na serious problem we dey face o. Dis prostate cancer wey I dey talk no be joke. For person body, e dey block things wey suppose flow well, and if dem no quick treat am, e fit destroy person. Na wetin corruption and bad government don do Nigeria. After 64 years, our education system still dey like pikin wey no sabi walk. Our hospitals no dey work well, people dey die anyhow, and technology, wey suppose carry us forward, dey backwards. Our roads be death traps, electricity na wahala, and as for our oil refineries, dem don turn to museum—nothing dey happen for dia. Yet, we dey old for bad thing dem like corruption, poverty, and wahala. For dat side, we don senior well-well. Na prostate cancer we dey use waka, and e don spread for all di corners of di country—governance, institutions, and even our mindset. Na why we dey see all dis yawa for every sector, because di country no fit push forward again. For 64 years, e suppose be progress, but wetin we dey see na say Nigeria still dey like baby. Our schools no dey function well, healthcare dey fall hand, technology no dey progress, and our roads no fit carry us go anywhere. Power no dey, people dey suffer, and bandit dem no dey gree us drink water drop cup. So, wetin we suppose dey celebrate? Refineries no dey work, roads dey kill people every day, and millions dey live for poverty. Should we clap for all dis hardship and insecurity? We no suppose dey dance or party at 64 o, na time to siddon look ourselves well. We suppose ask di big question: how we take reach here? Wetin we don achieve since we start to dey control our own affairs? We suppose face reality. If we no do am now, by the time we reach 80, things fit don worse pass like this. Over 150 million Nigerians go still dey for poverty, kidnappers and bandits go still dey rule everywhere, and our education and health sectors go still dey inside serious wahala. Who go do di surgery wey go cure Nigeria from this prostate cancer? Who go bring di solution wey go change this our condition? Na di same leaders wey don fail us all these years, or na we Nigerians wey go stand up demand better? At 64, Nigeria dey for serious junction. If we no do something quick, dis cancer go continue dey kill us slowly. Na time to take serious action, look our problems well, and find better solution wey go fit give us di future wey we dey dream of. If we no do am, our pikin dem go still dey suffer di same wahala wey we dey face today. As we dey look dis anniversary, make we no just dey celebrate anyhow, make we reflect and ask ourselves di big question: Na progress we dey or na sickness we dey carry waka? Only when we fit answer dat question, we go know whether we fit cure Nigeria or di cancer go finish us. Comr. Emmanuel Okike Public Affairs Analyst |

OFFICE OF THE HONORABLE MINISTER OF WORKS PRESS RELEASE 8th July 2024 CONTRACTORS HANDLING FG'S 260 EMERGENCY PROJECTS RECEIVE THREE (3) MONTHS DEADLINE FOR PROJECT DELIVERY 1. The Honourable Minister of Works, *His Excellency, Sen. Engr. Nweze David Umahi CON* has given the contractors handling the 260 emergency projects awarded by the Renewed Hope administration of *His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR* a deadline of three ( 3) months to complete and deliver the projects as required by the Standard Conditions of Contract of the Federal Ministry of Works or face contract termination. This ultimatum was issued during a meeting of the management of the Federal Ministry of Works with the contractors handling the various projects and the Federal Controllers of Works held at the Ministry's headquarters, Mabushi-Abuja this 8th July 2024. These Renewed Hope emergency road projects were appropriated in the 2023 Supplementary Budget with the intention to bring immediate intervention on the completely failed parts of critical federal roads nationwide with a view to restoring the serviceability level of the affected roads. 2. The Honourable Minister listed about 37 contractors who have achieved little or no milestone in the project delivery since the contracts were awarded and warned that such contractors must mobilize effectively to the site latest Wednesday 10th July 2024 or face contract termination. He said, " If after the deadline for mobilization to the site, any contractor fails to comply, the job shall be terminated by effluxion of time as the contract is for a time limit of 3 months. He further directed, "Any contractor whose job has stayed for more than 3 months without completion after the issuance of award letter must seek and obtain approval for extention of time from the Federal Ministry of Works". 3. The defaulting contractors, most of whom are handling emergency road projects inYobe,Jigawa, Zamfara,Benue,Kogi, Abia, Anambra, Imo, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River and River States were warned that the projects awarded to them must be delivered in three 3 months time as no excuse of security challenges or lack of mobilization funds would justify the sufferings they are subjecting road users or shield them from being blacklisted as constituting a clog in the wheel of progress in the efforts of the Renewed Hope administration in revolutionizing road infrastructure for Nigeria's economic prosperity. He said, "The people are suffering, the President is having sleepless nights in his efforts to fix our road infrastructure to help our economy, and people will be given jobs and they are telling us stories. There have been jobs awarded by this ministry in the past and money paid, and the contractors would hold the money, and they would say it's a security problem. Didn't you know about the security situation before you got the job?" He gave a marching order to the Federal Controllers of Works to ensure proper supervision of projects in their sites and be abreast with the contract awarded, amount, date of award, time line, review date, extension of time, argumentation granted and whether the contractor is on site. 4. He reiterated that mobilization funding under the Standard Conditions of Contract is not a condition precedent for them to move to the site but it is at the discretion of the Federal Ministry of Works and can be made available only to contractors who can undertake through affidavit of commitment to complete the job within three months of mobilization. He stated, "Our new policy is that if you want mobilization and we are happy to give you, you will abide by the conditions. One is that there will be no review of any component of the mobilization given. Two, we will give you 30% and you will do 30% of work before we can give you another money. So please, mobilization is not compulsory. Is that clear? Again, emergency projects are not mobilized. The rule is that in emergency projects, you will go and do it 100%, and then you submit your papers. We now pay you 80% and send your documents to BPP. When they approve, we pay you the balance of 20%." 5. In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Yakubu Adam Kofarmata, PhD stated that the period had gone when contractors were taking the country for granted and could afford to delay in job delivery for years after collecting mobilization and would keep feeding on the VOP. He charged contractors to brace up to the new spirit of "Nigeria first," introduced in the Federal Ministry of Works under the Renewed Hope administration of Mr. President. He said, "Honestly, we have a stake. It is about the Nigerian nation. We don't have any other country other than Nigeria. Believe me, we are pushing the Honorable Minister right now to stop considering this VOP and augmentation, because, there is no reason, after being given an award letter, you come and say you are waiting for payment for six months. Please, let us consider the nation first. Once we put Nigeria first. You see that things will move." Hon Barr Orji Uchenna Orji Special Adviser (Media) to the Honorable Minister of Works

OFFICE OF THE HONOURABLE MINISTER OF WORKS PRESS RELEASE 1st July 2024 FG TERMINATES CONTRACTS WITH MOTHERCAT, DANTATA & SAWOE AND RCC COMPANIES FOR NON-PERFOMANCE ON THE DUALIZATION OF OBAJANA-BENIN ROAD; SECTIONS II, III AND IV, WARNS THAT GOING FORWARD, ALL FUNDED BUT NON PERFORMING CONTRACTS SHALL BE TERMINATED 1. The Federal Ministry of Works has terminated contract numbers 6136, 6137 and 6138 with Mothercat Ltd, Dantata & Sawoe Construction Ltd and RCC Ltd respectively. The projects affected by this termination are the dualization of Obajana - Benin road, section II (Okene - Auchi) in Kogi/Edo State; the dualization of Obajana - Benin road, section III (Auchi - Ehor) in Edo State and the dualization of Obajana - Benin road section IV (Ehor - Benin) in Edo State. 2. The termination of the said contracts became neccessary in view of the inordinate delay of the affected companies in job performance and their failure, neglect and or refusal to fulfill their contractual obligations as required by the Standard Conditions of Contract and this has affected the timely completion of the projects and thus resulted in the expiration of the contracts by effluxion of time. The projects which were awarded on 3rd December 2012 were advertently abandoned by the contractors and no genuine commitment or good faith was shown towards executing the projects after accepting the considerations offered by the Federal Government and thereby exposing the road users to untold hardship due to the deplorable condition of the projects. 3. The Honourable Minister has therefore directed the engineers in charge to take necessary steps to enter upon both the site and the works and take the same over from the affected companies. He further directs the engineers concerned to, upon doing the needful, arrange with the affected companies for a joint measurement of work so far done by the said companies preparatory to taking over the sites from the said companies, and this directive is without prejudice to the exercise of other rights of Federal Government under the contract. 4. He warns that the Federal Ministry of Works under his watch will not condone acts of unseriousnes and sabotage by contractors whose plan is to become a clog in the wheel of progress of the Renewed Hope administration which is determined to change the ugly narrative of Nigeria's road infrastructure. He further warns that going forward, the government will not hesitate in terminating all projects that are funded but are non-performing. Hon. Barr. Orji Uchenna Orji Special Adviser (Media) to the Honorable Minister of Works

Leadership is not position, it’s influence. I saw the Governor of Niger nodding in agreement with HE PO when he was dolling out the statistical data as to why Nigeria should not be poor. After which he was inspired to make the comment that Niger will feed itself. Congratulations to Niger Government, I sincerely hope he makes good of his words. This goes a long way to show that one can actually be in Aso rock and he’s not a leader and another will be elsewhere and he is a leader. |
Many of us have gone through this stage in life. I was once in this situation and it was a miracle how I navigated through the torturing situations. Who no go no go understand. I don’t judge the lady and I feel for her poor soul. Attached with was the suicide note I wrote some time in 2022.
