@starlizzy Me too, that makes the two of us. |
@i Seun The location of Sango Otta should not deter you from setting your studio there. if you know your onion and put in your very best there, you can actually succeed in the sleepy town. Its all a matter of what you have to offer and the excellent work you are prepared to put into the studio, pls. know that people would always trace the studio if it is worth their while. whether it is in the thicket of the jungles or not, how much less a mere serene & sleepy town, in fact its an advantage if you ask me. Now compare it somewhat with your nairaland progect which emanated from that same location, come to think of it, do you realise that the actual citadel of legal operations of nairaland, i.e. its corporate headquarters is actually Sango Otta?! Now when something is good, distance won't be a factor really! cos' people are just in pursuit of excellence and are prepared to go the extra mile for it. The most important thing is that you are prepared to give it your best shot, talented people would turn up, but who really are these talented people? the talented people are not made in far-fetched distant lands or places. You could also groom and build your own team, personally l like to unfold my dreams to only a carefully selected crop of associates who are prepared to run with the vision- the catchy point is that they understand the vision, become passionate about it as well, and are willing to learn fast and sharpen their skills toward actualising the vision - wham! your talented bunch is ready and created. Lagos/ Sngo Otta? its irrelevant- As they say; get cracking and stop the excuses. Anything is possible if you think you can- you're right and if you think you can't- you're also right. |
hey, l am a great fan of naija movies and l am not ashamed of admiting it, l actually spend my hard earned money to buy them apart from being a member of two video clubs. In fact, we are the folks keeping down in business and we are happy to be part of their success stories. l wonder why typical nigerians find them boring, the films are always electrifying- there is always something to learn, laugh or even cry about them and now l cannot remember the last time l sat down to watch a foreign hollywood film apart from the sitcoms. Please lets not be too hard on our naija movies, they are trying in their own way, I particularly love to unwind watching them, yes take it that part of the fun is picking out the mistakes within, the good news is that they are improving by the day, as for the complaints about their themes, unfortunately, those are the familiar issues confronting us;- from the get-rich quick syndrome, to husband snatching, occult, barreness, blah blah etc. regretably, all of these are challenges before us here, the problem with our elitist breed is that you people keeping using hollywood as a yardstick for them. both are distinct and separate environments. to tell you the truth, l personally cannot stand watching the so-called hollywood foreign movies cos the issues and plots are just not in terms with my naija psyche- forgive me-but their white faces just turn me off, their westernised plot is just too plastic for my liking e.g actors will drink coffee /tea 100 times in between each sentence is boring.(mind you l can perfectly comprehend their oyinbo accent-so its not a case of one illiterate viewer who cannot understand their accent.) now give me my naija films any day, l love their razzmattaz, glamour, the interior decor of the houses, the actresses well-adorned even whilst cooking or sleeping, the light-headed but engaging story lines, they showcase everything about us for now-the good, the bad and the ugly. Now to answer your question proper, l'd like to see glamourised modern day nigerian movie l can identify with, dealing on the present day to day issues confronting the average nigerian bordering on subject matters on love, family, money matters, religion, etc. |
shouldn't we not rephrase the question; and rather ask" What can we do to make Nigeria great?" The way up for Nigeria is for "you and I" to start off in our own little sphere of influence. All Nigerians need to evolve a spirit of nationhood first and foremost, love Nigeria against all odds with its warts, spots and all, it may be hard l know, but lets start from somewhere, we can go on to build the Nigerian character to be more encompassing towards" what can l do for my nation, rather than what what can my nation do for me". For a change let us see ourselves as the agents of change for a greater Nigeria, e.g lets Nigerianise the Malcolm X "l have a dream" concept. work to actualise the Nigerian dream. Become positively a Nigerian brand. Lets please not resign ourselves to a dismal fate. We got huge potential. For a change lets even do an indepth study of what propelled the super-powers to greatness? Will it be wrong to say that their people on individual case by case basis may have played some roles, don't you think? Do not under estimate what one individual can achieve once he sets his mind on it. Our leaders sure have a huge chunk share of the blame, but how about you, you, you? We have sat enough in our comfort zones whilst decrying this notorious leadership. Where-ever you are; why not illuminate that place, talk right, think right and act right, Let others wonder; hey there goes a Nigerian, If you can make a better leader, in fact not just a political leader, name it! Better still, you could also aspire to get on board the leadership of this nation and change the system. Why do we just sit on the fence and criticise leadership all day long. Talk is cheap bro. All it takes is raw boldness and confidence. Go take a look at the constitution and check what it takes to vie for a political office, it would amaze you that the opportunity is rife for any one above 18+, no criminal record, has GCE or its equivalent etc, all of which l presume you are eminently qualified, so don't you see you have what it takes to go up there and strive to make an impart on the down-trodden? then go for it and let children yet unborn celebrate you tomorrow as a national hero. See how the present day Americans revere JF Kennedy, the Indians; Mahatma Ghandi, closeby South Africa; Nelson Mandela, etc. These were just mere men made of flesh and blood but on their individual stead, caused national changes, So you nko? Do not think you are too small or put yourself down. Know what, a guy you may wave off as just an everyday guy who is not a money bag by any standard took this bold step and actually contested for the governorship of his state, he did not have any God father, he did not even contest under the ticket of the powerful ruling PDP and he did not seem to belong amongst incumbent " powers- that- be-' in his state and they were even against him, yet he took this bold step, people who knew him closely thought he was just plunging himself into an excercise of futility, today the story has changed and one thing led to the other, alas today he is the present governor of that state. You may say he was just lucky; but that is luck predicated by being at the right place and so that when opportunity came calling, he was prepared to grab it. None of the Nigerian leaders on top was born with leadership trust on him, some were born under poorer circumstance than you can imagine-talking about those we call 'our leaders" Its just that whilst we are indifference, we inadvertently grant them free access- the journey begins with such steps. Become active stakeholder on these issues. Power to lead cannot be granted to you on a platter of your complacency or non-participation; so contest and the worst scenario is you lose, so what, did you hear that George Washington failed how many several times? So people, lets dust off the ashes of mourning and get up and face, confront or tackle (whichever) our national issues squarely but courageously. We can get there, we have what it takes, our destiny is right in our hands. Lets not despair. What have you done today to move Nigeria forward. That should be our collective guiding principle. Finally lets borrow the MTN on-going current advert slogan: "Go start something, every move counts" Make that move now; Less complaint and more action. |
Jeremania , This is very funny, and you must have a good sense of humor to understand the pun intended, and that goes to a few in the thread that got it. However this is a typical american humor, and totally lost on the typical Nigerian on this thread. I don't know what is funnier, that they did not get it, or their candid opinion regarding the article. I guess they didnt even know the message was a forwarded funny spoof already circulating the net. I hope you understood the joke, or that will even be more hillarious. Even though its intended to be a joke, well then the Verdict here is that its a very dry joke, typical American humour, my foot! |
My dear sister, If indeed, this actually took place; then you goofed big time and u have really disgraced womanhood, do you not know women are supposed to be custodians of decency, honour, & dignity. That is why women received stronger blames in issues of infidelity- recall the " woman caught in the act of adultery" cos' women ought to know better. The fact that some men do these things all the time and get away e.g your partner in sin-that's your bro-in-law- is not excuse for you; a respectable married madam like you to go berserk too. Now, Impulsive, wanton and unconscionable senseless sex as you graphically described; is only for animals and not right thinking ladies; you ought to make love to someone only becos you love him, he is your husband with whom you have a bond of marriage btw you two and so you celebrate your love physically. I cannot understand how you could have stooped so low and gotten urself sexually aroused by your so-called bro-in-law, he in fact is supposed to be a big turn-off for u. But who really knows? could you be pulling our legs as THIS COULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED?! cos it sounds so ethreal, and cocky. But who knows? If it did happen, lt is sooooooo sickening, then you may need to go for spiritual , psychological, and therapeutic counselling and get some urgent help. If all else fails, you may consider female genital circumcision-it would greatly limit your problematic libido. Ask any African woman of yesterdays, they were forever, chaste and faithful and this places checks on them. Today, the whiteman tells us it is mutilation, barbaric, etc. Now speaking seriously, if you ask me; you need to CONFESS to your husband point blank; that is the ultimate solution and there is no short-cut to that, if you could sink so low, you gotta take responsiblity for your action. Some volcanic eruptions may occur with your confession, the marriage and even the relationship btw d two brothers may all be in jeopardy, but withholding dark secrets of this magnitude never did any one any good. You've gotta face your devil by the face and who knows; it may well be resolved. And in future remember that the marriage bed should be kept honourably, you must not defile it! besides, you had vowed to cleave to your husband whilst FORSAKING all others eh? |
You can try to get in touch with advertising firms such as Rosabel, Lintas and many others who handle the accounts of clients like MTN, Celtel, coke, pepsi, etc and if your stufff is good, they would give you adverts on your show. And please l shall avail you with more names of advertising firms, and possibly a referral to a good friend who might be of further assistance with regards to your advertising needs. the only snag isPLS LET YOUR SHOW BE GOOD, you'd be tired of advert placements on the show. Good luck. |
Mamaje, l tend to wonder what gave rise to your deeply negative opinion about God and prophets of God, you sound so cynical and biased, and what do you really have against God and his prophets? You sure need prayers, please may God open your eyes. Now, l can understand how important it is for parents to instil the right values to their kids; so that they grow up well balanced adults. So you live in Finland, where you made out like everything there works so well and all rosy despite it being an atheist country?! Babylon was also like that in those days, but the young man Daniel purposed in his heart not to defile him self with their paganism. And you seemed to have welcomed wholeheartedly these your host country's godlessness hook, line and sinker. Do not get carried away that their material , social, physical and economic aspects are blossoming, cos' life is much more than just food, meat and drink! I’m sure the folks who lived in the luscious land of then Sodom and Gomorrah thought the same too until their godlessness caved in their sudden destruction. Your strong disdain for a Christianity is quite disturbing and raises some thought-provoking questions - l never realised that some people's faiths in God and men of God has deteriorated so so badly all in the name of modernization, civilization, rationalization and liberalization. Besides, that there are some false prophets is No excuse to fall out completely with all other prophets of God. Some of you are decrying that your money may be swindled, l think it is a lame excuse for folks who just want to remain stubborn in their hearts with regards to the love God is offering them. For a change, is it ok that you keep your money but give your heart to God? by the way, just how much are we talking about here. Take time guys and read the biographies of the likes of Henry Ford, Rockefeller etc. and again go check the various recipes for success as enunciated by books like the "millionaire next door" "chicken soup for the soul"-complete volume, etc- you'd be again "shocked" to find words like "tithe" 'Give, " popping out. "So do not be mocked, whatever a man soweth; he shall reap" All in all, when all others have disappointed you. There is a friend called Jesus Christ who will never disappoint you (see John 15:13-15). So that even while you may find it difficult or overtly cautious to trust any prophet or prophecy, do put your total trust in Jesus Christ. You will never regret you did. Never forget that Jesus loves you. And as for you Belabela; you are a great source of inspiration, blessed is the womb you came from; you are a worthy son indeed of a great mother who did her boy's grooming assignment very well. Keep keeping on with your values, as all God-fearing-and- loving people are routing for you cos' you spoke up our minds so succintly and yet very aptly. And for all ye God-haters; shame on you! |
Thanks a million Gbemyte for your prompt response. But l'd yet still appreciate some more cos' l intend to meet up with a handful of them for possible barter arrangement to do a syindicated talkshow. Meanwhile l have always wanted to host my talkshow on tv. That's why l need these addresses. |
