Even if you cut to 20k they won't give u. The visa officers are too smart to see desperate people though u may be genuine and sincere but they judge you from your income and expenditure. They like to give visa to those that one or two months salary will be enough to cater for the trip and still have change. Imagine you spending 40k on yourself in a month in your country and you want to go to thr country and spend so much. 40k is just like 75 pounds which may not last five days so you need to work on your finance for real
Thanks for your thoughts! But remember that the 40k is someone's one month salary, in fact it used to be my salary some years back

I dont think you should reduce your monthly expenses, rather provide the proof of the additional income and a letter explaining you can afford the trip with your stated additional income which should be proplerly documented.
Thanks. But my additional income is meager and can't add up to support my trip. My concern here is that if I stick to my previous information then I would not be able to work with the 2x disposable income rule

Candybright:
you can reduce your expenditure .
For additional income, maintain what you said ealier and if possible provide proof this time
Thank you for your inputs. Yes I plan to reduce my expenditure for the trip, however my question is: a change from my previously stated monthly expenditure to a reduced one now, is it safe to do this?

Then about the additional income, it is a freelance job that I get mostly in cash payments so it will be pretty difficult to get evidence to back it up

obiz0819:
Good Afternoon, my visa application was refused sometime in August this year based on the fact that my budget was more than my income.

I would like to make a reapplication this month but I kindly need your inputs on the following:

1. Would it be Ok to reduce my stated expenditure in this new application? In my last application, I stated that I spend 70k per month, leaving me with a disposable income of 130K so I want to state that I spend 40k/Month so my planned budget could be 320k for 5 days trip

2. I previously stated that I had additional income but I did not provide evidence for that. Tho the ECO didn't query my lack of evidence, I want to state now that I don't have an additional source of income in this new application, would this be fine?

@Justwise and others please help out with your thoughts.

Thanks

Hello. They made errors on my application as well. Did you complain through a different medium or made a fresh application?
I made a complaint not a fresh application. I felt I should correct the wrong judgement before making a fresh application

Good evening all!

As an update on my Complaints to Home Office against the reasons for my refusal, I sent out the mail on Sept 19. So last week while I was out of the country on official assignment, "an oyinbo person" called my organization and my colleague that picked the call, disclosed that she was asked details about my position, number of years I had worked at the organization and my salary.

All the info she provided corresponded to the details I had earlier provided in my application except for the salary, which she told the person, she doesn't have access to such information. The office line is designed in such a way that any staff can pick incoming calls

Moving forward, 2 days ago, I got this generic message from:

Dear ....

Thank you for your email correspondence of 19 September where you have raised a complaint about the refusal of your Entry Clearance application.

We apologize for the error you have identified in the original refusal notice. An updated decision notice has been sent to you.

The onus in on visa applicants to demonstrate their circumstances are as claimed. There is no obligation upon decision makers to verify employment along the lines suggested by you in your complaint.

Moreover, at no point does the refusal notice challenge your employment as claimed or that you do not have sufficient funds available to cover the expenses of the proposed visit. Employment was not an area of concern and therefore the Decision Maker did not need to make any checks. (But note that they called my office oo)

If you can address the concerns raised in the refusal notice, it is open to you to make a new application which will be assessed on its merits.

I apologise for any inconvenience caused to you in this matter but I am unable to uphold your complaint.

I believe I have addressed all the points you have raised. (My other complaint on the miscalculation of my planned expenditure and monthly income was not addressed). However if you feel that there are specific aspects that have not been addressed you can request a review of our response within one month of the date on this letter.

I really dont understand how to proceed cos it seems there is a gap between the first mail I got on Monday and today's mail from Home Office. I have attached the refusal letter and the complaint letter I sent to HO for aid our delibrations @justwise and others please help
capture of the complaint letter I sent to HO

Please I need clarity here, from this attachment, where it is asked "total amount of money you get in a year"

Is it :

1. The overall amount of money you earn in all employment plus other income?

2. Or Just the total of your other income only..

Please, help with these, as clarity is highly needed here... Many thanks.

They dont use the actual income..Your amount after removing your monthly expenses is what is used... your budget is safe if its within 2 times your salary after deduction of monthly expenses... example if your salary is 200k.. your monthly expenses is 50k... that leaves you with an income of 150k... your budget is considered safe if within 2 times of the 150k which is 300k...
Oh ok. If I intend to make a reapplication, would it be ok to 1. Reduce my monthly expenses as stated in my previous application ( i.e from 70k to 50k) 2. Readjust my budget to be able to fall under the "safe zone"?
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by obiz0819: 7:17pm On Aug 21, 2019
To properly digest the reason for refusal, I carefully looked at the letter of refusal again and I discovered that the decision was made based on paragraph V 4.2 (a) and (c) of the UK Immigration rules (see attached). When I checked, I just smiled smiley. Biko I can't leave this my good job with so much prospects ehn and travel to UK to go and suffer again.... Not me ooo cheesy

The ECO goofed or got confused in your financial aspect pls. Ur declared income after taking away dispensable income is 130k..thats 3 times ur income is what you intended to spend being 400k... why is the ECO saying 5 times. That means he/she didn’t take time to review or what? This is a good ground for reapplication in my opinion...
Again house, please what is the logic behind the travel budget, is it that your budget must not be more than 3x your disposable income and 2x your actual income?

@ the bolded....My bro was refused a USA study visa lastyear and he applied for UK visit visa he was given please. And the sister is part of his tie to Nigeria as she is his dependant. A person going for tourism can get a visa and not just for reasons like Grad or weddings. At the end of it God has the final say.

And whats wrong with this platform?
So Madam, please how do you advise I cure this perceived mistake/confusion? In making a reapplication, Do I 1.Remove my additional income, 2. Reduce my proposed budget, 3. How soon can I make a reapplication?
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by obiz0819: 5:01pm On Aug 21, 2019
Darvick:
Le Trust me you did very well on your application, the red flags on your application are

Firstly you got a dependant your sister
Secondly you have been refused by US and Canada recently

As ECO first thing that will come to his or her mind is you desperately wanna leave Nigeria ASAP, therefore the ECO will find excuse to deny you. Look at it yourself it’s obvious that your cost isn’t 5times your salary as the ECO claimed.

This platform can help and mess you up, if everyone starts disclosing all info, only a few like 10% will get visa lol. The fact is don’t lie or make up things on your application and dont fake anything but be smart about what would have negative impact on your application.

Come on now you were refused by Canada US and expected to easily get a UK visa, your chance is slim. I don’t mean someone refused by US Canada can’t get UK visa o

My advice is Wait 1-2yrs and reapply don’t put dependant, build up more ties like family (wife and kids) and properties. Also let your reason for visit to be more genuine like attending graduation naming wedding etc

Good luck and all the best.
Thank you for your response. But my these refusals were gotten between 2014-2016. I have not applied for visas since then

Bro, you provided too much information in the course of your application. Did you actually state N400K as your budget for the trip cos the ECO didn't say anything about it yet he went ahead to say your budget was 5 times your monthly income? And that's very rare for an ECO not to state the budget for a trip when an application is refused on the basis of spending more on a trip.
Too much information? Biko make me understand and regards if I stated 400k as my budget for this trip, please see enclosed

Hello sorry for your refusal....But from what you wrote and what the Eco is saying i think its because your a freelancer he or she might feel that you might elope as they feel your not in fixed kinda employment with an organisation.
Oh about that, the freelancer thing is a side income oo. I am fully employed with a foreign mission in Nigeria which pays my Salary. Of course, I presented a Letter of Introduction from work, Work ID and My Employment Contract. I think the issue is with my expenditure and income and I still confused on why it should be an issue
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by obiz0819: 3:26pm On Aug 21, 2019
Warm greetings to everyone here, I have been a silent reader on this platform and I carefully observed comments and observations from this platform which I used during my UK Visa application process. However, I received my application today and unfortunately, the application was rejected (reasons attached).

Please note that:
1. My budget for the proposed trip for 5 days was N400k (flight, hostel, tours and light shopping)- I was surprised the ECO stated that I was planning to spend over 5 times of my income. Biko is 5x200k equal to 400khuh? smiley

1.1 My monthly income is 200K, paid in USD then I convert it directly from USD Salary Account to my Naira Account
1.2 My Month expenses in 70K but there are some months I don't use my Salary at all due to the fact that I get travel bonuses and other incomes from freelance research jobs, which are OK to cover my expenses for that month and I stated this clearly on my Cover Letter

2
. I earn my salary in USD-( I provided my salary bank statements with a closing balance of a little over 500 USD)

3. My Savings Account had a closing balance of N1.2M

4. Provided a cover letter explaining my intent to travel, huge cash lodgements on my account early this year which was traced to my end of the year bonus, I work freelance- doing research for people, I even quoted a link to my profile with over 8k visits on a popular research website

5.
I'm single though

6. Travelled to South Africa on vacation some two years ago on my old passport( Though I scanned and uploaded the pages as evidence of travel history)

7. I have been denied visas for US and Canada- which I declared on my visa application

8. Please I would like to re-apply but would need your sincere opinions on my mistake(s)

Thank you.
