Thanks for d response Nonkala. I applied as the principal applicant but answered that I require financial support from someone. I also answered no that hubby and kids are not going with me. Pls note: that I responded that I have no job and no business, so sponsorship will be from hubby. Is there need he transfers the money for d trip to my account before I get my own statement? Or just upload his and mine the way it is. Also does this application for me alone stand a chance or we shd apply as a family?

Nonkala:
At 32 wks try and submit by tomorrow, if u know what u budget for US it wl be enough, she already said 1k average for a monthly accommodation
Just do hotel reservation on booking.com
Ur hubby is ur sponsor just attach ur stmt and his wt his being d first.. equally attach ur marriage cert as a proof

My advice.

Thanks Hotstepper for this piece.

Pls I have some questions which I will value ur answers:
1.Pls what should one budget for a three months accommodation cost if u are renting a place for just u (traveling alone). I intend staying in Manitoba area.
2. Would I be required to pay or show proof of payment for the accommodation before applying?
3. How much shd one budget for the whole childbirth fees both gynea n hospital/paed
4. Pls give a good estimate of total reasonable funds one shd budget for childbirth trip if u traveling alone.
5. If am traveling alone is it ok for hubby to transfer lump sum to my account before I get and upload my statement ( will that raise any eye brow)? I stated in d application that I depend on him for financial support.
6. Am 32weeks gone and trying to rush this after US denial but didnt state childbirth as I intend to do so at d Port of entry. Will that be a problem?

Pls I need your urgent response to make final decision.

quote author=Hotstepper post=74739325]Hello Everyone! Happy New Year. I hope everyone is doing great.

I said I was going to clear up some things since it is becoming rampant with mums who come in to have their babies.

I know there are agents in Nigeria who are in this thread who get people from here as clients and there is nothing wrong with but but please try and paint a better picture.

Now my observation plus experience from mothers who came in nd reached out to me, thus why I decided to take out time to clear up issues. It is 8:45pm Eastern Time.

1.Make sure you can comfortably sponsor your childbirth trip.

2. Please Canada is NOT US. You can see my "NOT" is all in Capital. Please if you are not ready for Canada, stick to the US. They are 2 diff countries with 2 diff policies. While US is a Capitalist country, Canada is a Social Welfare State. Canada has free medical and US does not so Canada has a one -tier health care system. Drs here can do without international patients and be very fine.

3. Let no agent tell you that you can have a baby in Canada plus accomodation, omugwo, pick up nd drop off for 6000 CAD..7000 sef will not be enough.

4. If you are going with an agent in Nigeria who probably has not been to Canada ( most of them now add Canada to their plan cuz Canada is now hot for childbirth),make sure u know exactly what their services cover. Alot of things I did in 2018, I will not repeat it in 2019. If ur agent in Nigeria just collects ur money nd u come nd what u r told is not what u see, please manage it like that nd try and speak up so others will learn .

5. budeget atleast 1000/1500 for accomodation cuz it depends in the city u live in. Canada is very large so getting from point A to B is far. Toronto is like lagos, even if say u get a dr for 1500, ur accomodation might be the same price or more and that is if you see. I know someone who paid 80 dollars a day on Airbnb nd couldnt cope after 2 weeks then contacted me and I know how i tried to find acxomodation for her.

6. If you are aware you are preggy, please try and start yoir visa application on time. most people says they travelved at 36 weeks to the US plz dont try it for Canada unless it is really not ur fault cuz its war finding drs on a normal day then imagine at these stage of ur pregnancy.

7. If you are coming with kids, please most times do ot expect to be in 1 bedroom in somebody's house. Also have in mind thar even the no of people renting a place, determins the cost cuz landlord will factor light nd water bill and that is if you find as most people do not like taking people with little kida esp if he or sge lives in the house. Also, if you MIL, Mum or hubby will not be around, make sure u have arrangement for someobe who will look after the kids while u head to the hopsital. DO NOT DEPEND ON UR HOST U MAY OR MAY NOT KNOW. You cannot take the kids to the hospital with u because there are changes they will be taken away from u. Saying this cuz it almost happened to someone 3 or 4 months ago. I knoe someone that her hubby had to buy last min flight cuz of the condition of his family and had to lodge them in a hotel until they left canada so you can imagine

8. Do not be in a hurry to go and if you may, then u must start ur documentations on time, right away .

Enjoy ur week .
Tnx @ Omobendel24. Are u speaking from experience that doing paper application would be faster. Someone said she did online n got her visa in two weeks while I also hear it can take up to a month. Which is faster pls those who have tried before? I am keeping an open mind about it that worse case I have my baby here and travel next time if the visa comes in but late.

OmoBendel24:

As long as finances are not the challenge here I will advice you give Canada a try, go the paper route, have an open mind. Some airlines will carry you ALMOST any time as long as your Doc certifies you fit to fly, worry about your Doc....

Meanwhile, be preparing for birthing in Nigeria as a serious back up please. All the best!

Pls gingalady, can you send me an email. I really need to get some information from you which will not be swift on this platform. We can exchange numbers from there. Am not so good with this nairaland app. My email is obybright2003@gmail.com

Pls don't ignore. Thanks.

That is not TRUE!!!

I just got my visa and for 4 years too! And in two weeks even!!
There are two options: you either specify it under purpose of visit and put OTHER and insert childbirth
Or if it’s an Online application to indicate it at point of entry. Most important thing is not to LIE

I was at the embassy yesterday for my interview 2nd one, had one in December and was denied which I suspected was based on the cheap bills thing they claim though the bills I gave them for hospital I intended to use was about $10k. I went prepared this time with a bill of about $15k and just wen the VO asked my bill, I mentioned it's abt 15k dollars. He looked at me and asked if I had the quotes, I brought out the document . He went through it pointing the hospital bill is $9k and for complications, i told him we are preparing for tje worst scenario considering my past experience. Doctor's fee is 3k and quotes for paed , lab, neonatal was scattered here and there and if added up actually sums up to that. It was quite a long session. He asked for bank statement, I presented hubby statement (sponsor) a statement of 7mil there about. He typed on the system for sometime and then slipped the blue paper to me with inaudible words. I asked why I am being denied, he said he can't really say more. I requested to know if he needed to view more document as we have even made a part payment and I have been scheduled for appointment in February but he declined. I told him that i really don't want to take chances with this pregnancy hence my travel after trying for so long with several failures after my first child who is 6years now. He said he is sorry but i can try another country. Frankly, not a single soul was offered d white slip before I got interviewed ystday. It was like they planned it ahead, students were denied after talking and explaining heaven and Earth, even the elderly, I watched an old woman being denied who was to travel to help her daughter that had a baby and a whole lot of others. Was hopeful that mine will be different especially when I had positive n valid documents to support everything he asked for, even travel experience but At Las, I was still not granted d visa. It's now so late I don't know if I can still get d Canadian visa before I become unfit for travel as I was meant to travel latest 1st week of February as am due first wk of March. Those wit Canadian visa, would u encourage me to still try or just chill and have my baby here. Am so worked up...

Thanks for d kind response. I guess I'll try. If am granted and it's too late, I may use it next time. I wish I put in d time wasted on d US visa here. It is well. But from experience, pls which could be faster, the online or Visa office application?

Thanks for responding, this is my third child and I intended to stop here though hubby feels we can still try for another. If I want to take a chance, should I be plain in the application that am going for childbirth or just vacation? If it doesn't come through early enough, can I use the vacation visa for childbirth if I decide to go have my next baby there or even this if I can walk around the fit to fly stuff? Pls response needed.

The timing of processing is unpredictable. But you are already 31 weeks, lets say its processed in 2 weeks, and you are asked to bring your passport the 3rd week. That makes it around 35 weeks and travelling at that time might depend on airlines. This is my hypothesis.

Alternatively, Why don't you give birth in Nija and prepare another for Canada after even na to do am sharp sharp.
Hello pls am new here, have gone through the recent thread but can't seem to get the exact process on how to begin the process of applying for the canadian visa. My purpose of travel is childbirth. I was denied for d US and am already 31weeks gone. Pls can I still meet up with processing time before am due or no longer fit to travel? I want to know my chances as I put in alot into the US including making some payments and would not want another effort in futility. Thanks all. Pls pls respond...

I was denied two weeks ago after the VO asked how much my bill from d hospital I intend using is? I answered about $10k. Now I want to reapply but this time with a different hospital though my doctor is the same and he gave me quotes for both hospital. Pls experienced folks here, do u think I will have any issue with the change of hospital in a short time? Note: my appointment letter with d doctor came after the interview with embassy and carries the location of d 2nd hospital I intend using now though I mentioned d other hospital at d first interview but doctor practices with both hospital.
