Nigeria's Visa on Arrival is not for every country neither the e-visa which replaced it. There is the principle of reciprocity among nations. Nigeria in its magnanimity waive this for some countries while others are to visit Nigeria's embassy in their home country to apply for visa. Same way we have to go to embassies here not minding where you reside. Provision for multiple entry visa is only available at the embassy. https://immigration.gov.ng/nigerian-visa/ |
@ChatGPT U.S. citizens visiting Nigeria can be granted a multiple-entry visa valid for up to 5 years—a reciprocal measure Nigeria introduced in March 2023 . Here’s how it typically works: --- 📅 1. Visa Validity Up to 5 years multiple-entry visa, depending on applicant category and reciprocity rules. ⏳ 2. Duration of Stay Each individual entry generally allows a stay of up to 90 days. Extensions—typically in chunks of 90 days—are possible through the Nigerian Immigration Service . In some cases, entry stamps may authorize shorter stays (e.g., 30 days), based on border officer discretion. 🛂 Quick Summary Visa Feature Details Visa validity Up to 5 years (multiple entries) Stay per entry Typically up to 90 days Extensions Possible with application via immigration --- 🔄 In Practice Many U.S. passport holders receive a 5-year visa, though duration and length of stay per trip depend on one's application and consular decision . Recent traveler reports confirm the 90-day-per-trip rule, with extensions being obtainable if needed . 🧭 What You Should Do 1. Apply early at a Nigerian consulate or through an accredited service for a multi-year visa. 2. Check your entry stamp when arriving—this specifies your allowed stay length. 3. If you want longer than 90 days, apply for an extension well before your current permission expires. 🔍 Final Take U.S. citizens can receive a 5-year visa to Nigeria, usable multiple times. Each entry typically permits a 90-day stay, extendable via immigration. Actual duration per trip may vary depending on what the border officer approves upon arrival. My submission Going to pick single entry conditions on Nigeria immigration website and posting is disservice to ourselves. Let's not be caught in Trump's shenanigans. He placed a ban on us in 2020 due to some concerns which I believe we made the necessary updates, this then made them to start giving us 5years visa instead of the 2years we usually get, with full reciprocity from Nigeria as announced in February 2023. Google or AI is your friend. Aside that some of us still remembered what transpired then. Whatever issues he has now will surely be resolved. But when depends on Him? |
Yes, it was IW. As he has always qualify to apply in his own right. Note that he appeared in person for his first visa but wasn't interviewed. Primetouch1: |
IW Application Timeline Background - Owing to the long wait time for visa appointment for IW application I was lay back in filling our (DW, son and myself) DS 160 form as Abuja had 86 days while Lagos had about 117 days as at first week of June 2024. I later started filling the form with Abuja in mind as the place of submission. I got our photos ready by 15th July, 2024 and was about making payments for the visa when I decided to have a look at the wait time for visa appointment again by 17th July. And Voila! Lagos had 6 days , I quickly filled another form for Lagos for the 3 of us, made payment, detached my family from my appointment scheduled portal and opened new portal for DW and son, then scheduled each person. The next day, appointment days were released for us all, and we chose the 24th of July for submission. Timeline 24th July 2024- Submission at DHL Surulere 25th July 2024- Passports delivered to consular office 26th July 2024- Application approved by consular officer subject to final processing 29th July 2024- Visa issued 30th July 2024 – Passports received from consular session and is currently being processed for delivery 31st July 2024- Passports ready for pickup 7th August 2024- Passports were picked up from DHL Surulere with five years visa for us all. Visa Alert for a family of three Submitted upload documents on the 27th February, 2023 (as I opted for self-service) Went for biometrics on the 28th February, 2023 @ Ikeja (Flex appointment), and the waiting began though patiently. I have kind of envisage receipt of outcome at this time owing to past visa alert updates shared recently. My wife received her passport on Tuesday 14th March, 2023 with six month visa via courier (Passport had been transferred to VAC as @ Friday 10th March, 2023 from TLS tracker, picked by DHL same day and I got a mail on Monday from DHL with tracking number. Attempt to deliver it on Monday failed because they couldn’t reach me) Myself and son received ours on Wednesday15th March, 2023 with two years and six month visa respectively. (Passports were transferred to VAC on Tuesday 14th March, 2023, picked same day by DHL for onward delivery the next day) A big thanks to all for sharing experiences and giving answers to the many questions to provide clarity. These have indeed helped in a great measure to achieve this without the use of an agent. Thank you and God bless you all. |

Knowledge they say is power, true. But I will say the right information is key. I have been a silent reader and have gotten quite a load of information from here. My timeline goes thus: I submitted our recently filled D160 forms ( myself, DW and son) on the 14th March, 2022. I made payment for our visa same day and joined a telegram group in search of IW appointment date ( our last visa expired in July 2020 which was used for child birth as declared then for DW). Appointment time schedule came up on Tuesday 15th March, 2022 but I wasn’t able to secure a time slot owing to three(3) failed attempt due to either poor/slow network or guess so many people were choosing the same time as I was simultaneously. Learnt my number one lesson (i.e go for the early morning dates if you come in slightly later than when the time slots initially appears). I was bewildered that appointment slots came up the next day Wednesday 16th March, 2022 in the afternoon as we had the notion that time slots show up majorly midday. I missed this due to engagement at work. I was flabbergasted, when time slots came up again the next day Thursday 17th March, 2022 and this time I was successful in getting a slot for 29th March, 2022. Submitted on the appointment day without hassle. Visa was issued on the 16th April, 2022 to the three of us. Got our passport pickup email and sms on the 21th April, 2022 by 7:30pm. I went to Victoria Island for pickup of our passports on the 22nd April, 2022, but couldn’t. I was told that I came late( time was some minutes to four O clock) and the crowd was quite alarming. Learnt they were treating list 16 out of 25 (there are 25 names on a list) as at that time. I went back on Monday 25th April, 2022 and spent about 8hrs (got there around 1000am and left around 0600pm) before being able to pickup for only myself and son as DW passport could not be found after several search attempts. The lady that attended to me pleaded with me to go as it was not easy searching for it at that time, she gave me her mobile number and promised to look for it. She called me later by 9:05pm same day to inform me that she has found it. I went there the next day to pick it up. All glory to God, a big thank you to this house and a big thumps up to the telegram group. God bless you all. |
