Travel › Re: Travelling To Turkey To Buy Clothes by odinga1of: 9:51am On Sep 07, 2018 |
iykbethany: I dont know how long the Turkish visa takes. I came to Turkey yesterday, i got my visa on arrival. If you have visa from western countries and fly Turkish Airways visa is instant.
However, I have met many Nigerians here who send invitation letters for people that want to come here for a fee. They get the invitation letters from big Turkish companies to enable people get visa. If you have other supporting documents like bank statements etc i may help you with Invitation letter.
One thing I want to use this opportunity to warn any Nigerian boy of girl that is considering coming to Turkey to hustle because there are no jobs here in Turkey for a Nigerian, Also Turkey does not give residence permit, all the boys here are crying, they want to come back but they cant because our people back home will call them failures. Majority of these guys came here to carry drugs, so so many Nigerians are in prison. We were eating at a Nigerian restaurant yesterday my agent told me that 9 out of 12 Nigerian guys at that restaurant are into drugs. they all looked haggard and frustrated bc if you try drug biz they will catch you and the setence is usually about 30 years plus, with hard labour... Our brothers nor dey hear word, no need to give anybody advise.
If you are coming to buy clothes you are welcomed, the place is very cold now so come with winter clothes and I would recomend you stay at prens hotel bc its brand new hotel, there is also flash hotel or Fly Hotel. The hotel rate is between 30$ to 35$. Only prens hotel is 50$ and above bc its a 3 star brand new hotel. Whenever you travel to Asia for the first time to buy items you must use agents bc they will be the ones to take you around shops and warehouses for a little fee. This is applicable to Vietnam, Turkey, China, etc. Most of these agents are igbo boys. i did all my shopping today and will return to Africa tomorrow. Vietnam is better in quality and price. My contacts in Vietnam, said they have started issuing visas again but they now need ebola certificate or whatever, i will get more details when i return to Nigerian.. good luck Best advice so far, My Mom bought me a shoe in Torino, Italy where she base. inside the shoe there is made in Vietnam sticker on it. |
Education › Re: What I Did To Help My Child Improve In Maths by odinga1of: 10:30am On Aug 30, 2018 |
katekemi664: Every parent wants to do what's best for their child. I'm a mother of 2 and I want to share my experience with other parents of how I helped my child from bad grades to very impressive results.
Teni was really falling behind in maths and bringing home bad grades. His teacher had communicated his struggles with me. He was in Pry 2 at the time and had confided in me that all the kids in his class always got concepts taught except him which made him feel he wasn't smart enough.
His first term result in maths was an E followed by a D for second term.I was sincerely worried and knew I had to do something fast.
I had always known that "most good students aren't born good learners". So I had this feeling that if my child can have the basic aptitude, then with the right motivation, he can become a good learner.
My first strategy was to devote more time to his homework. When he comes back home, I allow him teach me what lessons he learnt in school for that day. With this, he experiences less control and develops confidence. He sometimes makes mistakes, but then I was always quick to correct.
I placed more emphasis on learning the basic principles, and to make it more interesting for him, I explain to him how math applies to real life. For example, I allow him figure out how many biscuits can be bought with 100 Naira, if each biscuit is sold for 50 Naira at the school kiosk.
I noticed he was gradually improving. I needed to device a new strategy since my leave was over and I had to resume work. I decided to search online for solutions and most of what I got was private tutoring.
I had once worked as a teacher in a private school so I thought to give it a try. Helping him out with his homework exposed a lot to me and made me understand why a lot of children struggle with some particular subjects.
From the lesson with him I found out that
1. One on one tutoring enables children to ask questions about their challenges without fear of environmental pressure.
2. It enables students to learn at their own pace which might not be possible in a traditional classroom setting.
3. It encourages personalized learning. No two students are same. Some are auditory learners while some are visual learners.
My son is a visual learner so I was always able to get materials to show him which he saw and touched to aid his understanding. You can teach a child a concept without getting it but if he or she sees and touches what you're talking about ,it helps a great deal and they never forget.
4. Many times lessons taught in class are time sensitive and fast moving. There might be a particular line that is crucial to helping a child understand a topic which he didn't get in class. With one on one coaching you can take the lesson as slow as necessary.
5. Flexibility of teaching methods. One on one teaching affords you the benefit of trying several methods of teaching as against the unavoidable one size fits all method used in classrooms.
A lot of teachers won't tell you this but if only your child does not understand a topic taught in class ,sorry they have to move on to the next subject because other kids who understand are waiting. Schemes have to be covered and all.
The student carries the challenge unattended to and when it's time for exams ,I bet you know what would be of the child's performance in that subject or topic and then it will be said that the child is dull.
Believe it or not, after applying these strategies, my son got a B in maths this third term and the teachers were really surprised at the change. Thanks to the internet. You too can do the same for your child today. Cheers! God bless you for this info, this is why I prefer nairaland than facebook, instead of chatting with people, I take out time to visit nairaland for this kind of information......... very educative.............. |

Politics › Re: How 16 Deputy Governors Quit In 19 Years by odinga1of: 1:25am On Aug 26, 2018 |
MaziOmenuko: Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe of Abia State.
Let me tell you a story; during the first tenure of Orji Kalu of Abia St, his deputy, Abaribe was a force to reckon with having come from the Ukwa-Ngwa axis. The ngwas had the highest voting block, highest seat at the house of assembly, had up to 11 local govt out of the 19 in abia. It was on record that OUK defeated Ogbulafor only with influence of the ngwas that supported his deputy. Abaribe was the one running the govt, awarding contracts, filling up his people at strategic positions while the governor was more like a prime minister.
OUK wanted him impeached at all cost. He would send money to the house of assembly, they will accept it, share it and pass a vote of confidence on Abaribe. They loved him to the core.
Then one ngwa man, a very close ally to Abaribe did the hatchet job. He met Abaribe and confided in him that the governor wanted to kill him right inside the government house. He told him the plan was to get some tugs to suffocate him and then claim he died of heart attack. He asked Abaribe to equip himself with a small pistol and be with it at all times.
Abaribe believed his kinsman, got a nice pistol for himself. He came with it for the monthly executive meeting. Then the hatchet man informed OUK that the plan had worked, Abaribe was inside the executive chambers of the government house with an unlicesenced arm.
During the meeting, OUK told his commissioners that Abaribe was planning to kill him and had perfected his plans. In fact, that he was there that morning with his gun to shoot him. At that, security t agents swooped in on Abaribe and recovered the gun.
That was the end of Abaribe's reign as deputy governor. He was forced to resign rather than being impeached since it was an impeacheable offence.
He later started the 'Otu Onu' movement that contested against the 2nd tenure of the governor. OUK was scared like mad that he would lose the election. His only Savior was INEC. TA Orji then was the INEC chairman in Abia. He assured OUK that irrespective of what the votes reads, he would alter the results and announce him the winner.
This was exactly y what TA Orji did for OUK. He was made the chief of staff by OUK as a reward of that. Later, he was made the governor.
My people, that was how my state was sabotaged on the alter of politics, no meaningful governor, nothing. Thanks for this brilliant piece...... As an upcoming journalists I doff my heart for you. you be senior man. I wish I can know things like this in my state (Delta State) back then |

Politics › Re: Electoral Value: Saraki Vs Atiku Vs Kwankwaso by odinga1of: 11:57pm On Aug 01, 2018 |
drealzum: You don't know jack. So tell me where Buhari will win? Middle belt? Nonsense!
Buhari will win Katsina and maybe other core northern states. But he won't get those mass votes.
Kwankwasiya is not a person. it is a movement. They have offices in the 19 northern states for the last ten years. If you think only Buhari pulls crowd in the North then you are deluded. They will drag for that kano. Sule lamido is also a godfather in Jigawa. He is a protege of Aminu kano. He does not believe in Ahmadu bello kind of politics that we see in the north now. So he has his own huge followers. Go and find out. He has his own kind of crowd.
These guys will work together, bring their crowds and advice them to vote one person.
Atiku is not the best person to lead this country for me after Buhari . But Atiku can beat Buhari more than the others who are better .
First of all Atiku will win the middle belt. We know why. Fulani killings and Marginalisation from the government at the center. Buhari has never even won the middle belt in his life. And this time it won't be different. Buhari will lose the south east and south south. Atiku is closer to these people than Buhari.
Though Atiku has stains of corruption, but he is detrabalised. He is not a bigot, he is not a fanatic. He lived better part of his life in Lagos. So he is a refined person. He will sell in the south east and south south. But Buhari cannot sell in the south east after what he did to them in the name of python dance. How does he explain to women who have become widows and parents who have become childless?
Then for south west. Both Buhari and Atiku have battered reputation. Money, Pr and better campaign will produce the winner in south west. Atiku has the money. Atiku preaches restructuring, the south west wants restructuring. Buhari has never won Lagos, what makes you feel he will win it? The APC is in crisis in the south west. Obasanjo is a factor. Wait and see what happens there. Boss God bless you for this analysis, someone said Kwankwaso has no money but has structure, Someone that has Kwankwasiya movement in all the Northern States and even spreading to South small small. The bone of contention is that any PDP candidate will split Buhari vote in the North, this is not GEJ of 2015, this is Muslim Muslim, money and PR and who pull crowd pass go talk. I am from Warri, any Northern PDP candidates should please replace PMB with immediate effect. |
Politics › Re: Electoral Value: Saraki Vs Atiku Vs Kwankwaso by odinga1of: 11:49pm On Aug 01, 2018 |
BabaRamota1980: Atiku's chances of grabbing the flag by default has been impacted with the recent defections.
Atiku should have encouraged defectors to stay put in their respective parties until after his nomination as PDP Presidential candidate is secured.
Atiku has money but his political structure is very weak. Saraki and Kwankwaso do not have the money but have much better structure, though local.
None of the three posess a regional power to effect massive turn out against opposition.
Who will step down for who amongs the three? Oga Atiku has money and political structure more than anybody. who told you Saraki/Kwankwaso nor get money? be dreaming you hear. Atiku Campaign office in Delta State is located in Effurun( headed by Charles Obule) dont bother to google the name, ask any Sapele boy who is Obule, when it comes to money. your analysis is okay, but don't say Atiku don't have structure. |
