ifyalways: i was wondering.what is the moderator doing or what really are the rules here?
In threads where its strictly and very well spelled out that its for Christains,is it in any way tolerated and accepted that non-christains come in and type whatever that pleases them?
Dont the christains have the need NOW to have a child board strictly for christians and with christians as moderators?
what prompted me,u ask?

I feel your pains my dear but the truth is, you have to move on. Dont coerce him into marrying you, you will be doomed. Get to see him and break the covenant mutually, release him and move on, that way, your heart will be at rest.

EducationRe: What Influenced Your Choice Of Course In School? by Odunnu: 6:35pm On Jun 11, 2012
I actually wanted to be a lawyer back then. My eldest brother studied law in UNN and would always come home during breaks and speak big big English unlike the regular ones we were used to. I was always impressed and swore I was going to be like him. I read every Grisham novel. Then Jamb came and I filled in Law Ist choice UNN, Law 2nd Choice UNIZIK, Law 3rd choice ABU. UNN cut me off by 8marks on merit, I landed fine with UNIZIK, but they denied me admission, 2nd choice. I was in the merit list for ABU but for some strange reasons my name/score was swapped and after trying to rectify for a while, that session ended. I forgot to mention that UNN offered me Sociology and stupid me, I rejected it.
So I stayed at home another year and started lessons, I was so close to the administrator that he started changing my views. It was he that noticed I was better in figures than in long grammar and the 5mths I was under his tutelage saw me make a sharp turn for a figure based course. I bought JAMB again and filled in UNN 1st choice Accountancy
UNN 2nd choice Accountancy
UNN 3rd choice Banking and finance.
I was cut off Accountancy again and this time by 9marks , I was comfy in B/F but I was told as well that B/F was restrictive and i'd never loved banks or working in one. I made up my mind to change after my first year then I left the north and landed in the east to start sch with an admission for B/F. I went to register and was told my name was for Accountancy and was given reg number meant for Accountancy class.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Thanx code. Its eyeopening. So instead of 'forbiding the discussion on Islam' like he said, he decided to give them a 'joint'. Now I represent Christians here and asking nicely, i'm not threatning nobody but I do hope its attended to.

eGuerrilla: Otedola the paragon of truth?
Someone's having a laugh at the expense of Nigerians.

By all means jail Farouk Lawan if he is found guilty, but only after you've jailed Otedola for the crime of being the most lily-livered CEO of a multi-national corporation.
Here is someone who can afford some of the best legal birds (SANs) money can buy in Nigeria, with a direct link into the presidency, admitting to being cowed by some lowly placed ad hoc committee chairman.

On a side-note, it is good to see our local press who have long outsourced investigative reporting to faceless online blogs salivating over this one, covering the 'official line' only from one angle grin

Hehehehehe.

cyrexx: you want those muslims to threaten Seun's life again. did you forget how they issued fatwa against him for not respecting their religion. the man does not want trouble from islamic fundamentalists thats why he gave them their section. if other religions can do the same, they will get what they want too.
i've been seeing comments here and there talking about a threat on Seun's life if a section wasnt carved out, please post the link so I can read for myself

Christianity EtcRe: Christianity For Christians. by Odunnu(op): 5:58pm On Jun 10, 2012
JeSoul: Odunnu, you raised some good points for thought, and as you said, much of it is out of the hands of the mods. The religion section is not the christian section and as such, we all have to learn to play nice together.

Personally, I think a lot of this is a tempest in a teacup. Atheists have been in this section since I've been on NL, its only a recent influx of maybe 4-5 heavy handed posters that open countless threads that make it seem like the section has been run over. I've seen many seasons in the section, so I'm far less concerned. We don't need a new section, maybe Missy's suggestion is within order:

That can certainly be done...at the risk of posters crying 'censorship' and 'intolerance' etc etc. Its really a catch 22. But if that's what the admin says we do, then it shall be done.

Cheers my sisters.
Its tedious for you and I must commend your strenght, patience and moderating skill.
Christianity EtcRe: Christianity For Christians. by Odunnu(op): 5:48pm On Jun 10, 2012
xcolanto: Its only fair that the Christians have their own section so far as a religion (Muslims) have been given theirs. The denial of this would only lead to christian members of this forum feeling deprived and cheated of their own platform to express their religious views in a section created for them and this demand would continue to come up so long the forum exists. The best would be for seun to address the issue if he would create such section and if not why not. I believe nairaland is a community with different religious backgrounds and i don't see how accommodating these diverse religions should be a problem.
thank you
Christianity EtcRe: Christianity For Christians. by Odunnu(op): 5:14pm On Jun 10, 2012
God2man: There are so many christians in Nigeria, but if you look at the Religion section, you will discover that we don't have a large percentage of christians making reasonable contributions again, what they do is to read and go away. Why? It is not all about tolerance, it is about looking at those things that can affect christians positively. Good things that can edify, great topics that can make Nigerian christians better.
Yes, we should tolerate other beliefs but there is a limit to human endurance. Some posters are so desperate to force their opinions on others, they can create so many I.Ds to achieve their aims while some posters have nothing to contribute except to attack Men of God, and do whatever they can to stop tithe, it is so terrible on Nairaland, sometimes i feel that there is no need to contribute to any topic again because if you do some sharks and some hungry roaring lions will destroy the thread.
We have so many christians in Nigeria but it's not the same thing on nairaland. Here, we have been made to believe that haters of God are more than christians, is it really true? The truth is that many christians would like to make meaningful contributions but it is difficult, they would prefer peace to abuse and insults from haters of God.
Creating a christians section will redefine nairaland, it will serve as a resource centre for many christians looking for ways of making their lives better. Christians are faced with challenges everyday, and it is corroborated by what Jesus said that in this world we shall exprience tribulation, we may not be able buy our ways out of trouble all the time, one way or the other the devil will raise his ugly head but christians will do better if they stand on other christians shoulder and learn, i believe this can only be achieved by creating a christian section or else the Religion section will be avoided by many christians.
@ poster, God bless you. God2man.
Amen

Christianity EtcRe: Christianity For Christians. by Odunnu(op): 4:52pm On Jun 10, 2012
Missy_B: It's needless to say I agree with you that the level of intolerance and disrespect towards Christians and their credence is a saddening shame, but I do not think having a section for Christians will solve the problem.
Should one be created, it's not going to be restricted to Christians alone, so what's the use, as these uncouth elements would still find their way there.
I think the Religion section needs strict moderators, I have no idea how the present mods operate though.
No insolent post should last more than 60 seconds and no regular offender should be spared a ban.
If the mods are already strict, get stricter.
have you been to the islam section and seen the MOD assisting Jarus act?
Christianity EtcRe: Christianity For Christians. by Odunnu(op): 4:49pm On Jun 10, 2012
kandiikane: So if they make a section for christianity, when the people of Islam, Paganism, Jainism, Zoroastrian, hinduism etc come will a section be made for them too?

If you want private discussions please your church has fellowships almost everyday. Go there.
Nigerians are mostly either Christians or Muslims. The muslims already have a section, the christians are only asking for equality
