Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Abuja, has arrested a woman, Mrs. Roseline Uzoamaka, for allegedly brutalising her 14-year-old relative, identified simply as Sarah, because she was bed-wetting.

Uzoamaka allegedly forced the teenager to sit on a burning electric cooker until the girl sustained severe burns in her private parts as a punishment for urinating on the bed.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the incident occurred last Saturday, August 23, at the family’s residence in Gwarimpa, Abuja.

Sarah, it was gathered, was Uzoamaka’s sister-in-law, being a younger sister to her husband.

Our correspondent learnt that on the morning, the woman had scolded the girl for continuously bedwetting, and asked her to sit on the burning stove until her genitals were cooked by the heat.

It was gathered that Uzoamaka confessed in her statement to the police that she did this because some friends had advised her that the way to make her bedwetting sister-in-law recover from the problem was to make her sit on a hot stove.

After the girl’s privates were affected by the heat, she was said to have been rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment the same day. The girl, our correspondent learnt, was still recuperating in the hospital.

The Abuja Police Command Public Relations Officer, Altine Daniel, confirmed the arrest to our correspondent on the telephone.

She added that because of its severity, the case had been transferred to the FCT Criminal Investigation Department.

She said, “Yes, the woman has been arrested. She told the police that the reason she did that was because the girl was bedwetting.

“She said it was some of her friends who advised her to try that as a solution. The girl is related to her husband. She is not her housemaid.

“The case has been transferred from the division to the Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.”

10. WARRI



It’s one of the biggest cities In Delta state. Located on the Lower Niger/Delta coast line. Its not the state capital but it’s more popular and has a lot of history compared to Asaba the capital. Its an old town known for oil production and the presence of the traditional kingdom Warri, dated back as far as the 15th and 16th century. Its a port town that has a lot of industrial activities (oil and steel). People from this notable town are called wafarians, known for business and tourism. The presence of oil has a ripple effect on its commerce. 9. KANO



The city of Kano is the capital of Kano state in Northern Nigeria. The second largest city in Nigeria, Kano is the second major seat of the Hausas/Fulanis, the other being Sokoto. Kano is an ancient city and is the pride of most Northerners. 8. UYO

    

Once adjudged the neatest city in Nigeria, Uyo is a cool, calm, classy and serene destination. Also in South-eastern Nigeria, it is the capital of Akwa Ibom, a major oil producing state in the country. The city is loved for its peace and serenity among other things. Although life in Uyo is quite expensive, people don’t mind because of the low crime and crisis rate. The inhabitants are predominantly farmers and traders. With the increased level of infrastructural growth and human development, Uyo is definitely a place to look out for. 7. PORT HARCOURT




Port Harcourt is a coastal city with scenic shorelines. This city as described by tourist is a “centre of black jewel (oil)”. 6. ENUGU



Popularly known as ‘coal city’, a pseudonym that was given to Enugu due to its mining activities.. Located at the south-eastern part of Nigeria, it’s the state capital of Enugu. It’s described as one of the oldest urban areas within the region. Her populace are involved in agriculture, besides the mining of coal and other solid minerals. 5. MINNA

The Alaafin of Oyo Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi, who traveled to the UK with his four wives last week to celebrate his 76th birthday, was spotted at Westfield Mall in London this week with all his wives and they caused quite a stir in the mall. The world football governing body, FIFA, has set a September 8 deadline for Nigeria for the country’s football administration to work according to set down statutes or be suspended from international football.

A FIFA letter sent to the Nigeria Football Federation on Wednesday read in part, “Following the decision by the FIFA Emergency Committee, FIFA has today, 3rd September 2014, sent a letter to the Nigeria Football Federation confirming that the NFF will be suspended with immediate effect should there still be persons claiming to have been elected to NFF positions on 26 August 2014 and occupying their offices on Monday, 8 September 2014 at 08.00 (Central European Time).

“The decision follows events linked to the NFF general assembly held on 26 August 2014. While the said general assembly was duly convened by the NFF Executive Committee to adopt a new roadmap leading to the NFF elections, some members proceeded to hold elections in the absence of the NFF President, who was being held by security forces for questioning.

“In a letter sent on 29 August 2014, FIFA confirmed that it would not recognise the results of the aforementioned elections and that the matter would be brought to the respective FIFA bodies should there still be persons claiming to have been elected and occupying the NFF offices at midnight on 1 September 2014. On expiry of the deadline, some people were still claiming to have been elected and were occupying the NFF premises.”

The Multiple award-winning Nigerian pop twin star of Peter and Paul Okoye with the group name ‘P-Square’ has disclosed that they do not live together with their respective wives. The group also revealed that they (brothers) still live together while their spouses stay in different places in Lagos.

Peter and Paul made this disclosure on a radio interview on Monday, which was monitored by our correspondent.
The singers however disclosed that by December 2014, they would be moving to their various houses (ostensibly to stay with their wives.)The duo challenged their fans to watch out for their album, which will be released on the September 12, 2014, promising to make refunds to fans if they (fans) don’t like album.

Some months ago, the brothers were reported to be having issues with their elder brother, Jude, who doubles as their manager. Lola Omotayo, Peter’s wife, was accused of being one of the brains behind the fight, which she denied.

The Deputy British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Parker, on Tuesday, slumped and died at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

Parker, who flew into the county aboard an American Airline, Delta Air Lines, sources said took ill while on board.

The plane had arrived the country from Atlanta Georgia, around 4:00 p.m, on Tuesday.

A source close to the airport confirmed that the medical personnel attached to the terminal tried to revive him, but without success.

When it was confirmed that he had passed on, an ambulance was ordered to take him to the morgue.

As of the time of filing this report, the morgue where he was taken to could not be confirmed.

But another information gathered indicated that the diplomat before dying was seen holding to his chest and screaming “my heart” and slumped before the health officials could reach him.

Those who are hoping that Christ Embassy Head Pastor Chris Oyakhilome and his estranged wife Anita Oyakhilome will resolve their issues and get back together, shouldn’t hold their breath as the woman is said to have vowed to divorce the pastor Chris..

Speaking with Premium Times through her lawyers, Mrs Oyakhilome said her relationship with her husband had terribly degenerated that there is no room for any reconciliation or out-of-court settlement. Find the full report after the cut…

Premium Times had contacted Mrs. Oyakhilome through her lawyers, Attwaters Jameson Hill Solicitors, after news broke that she had filed for divorce, to enquire whether any out-of-court settlement option was being explored.

In their response Tuesday, her attorneys said there was no chance the estranged couple would ever live as husband and wife again. “It is with great sadness that our client, Pastor Anita Oyakhilome, has come to the conclusion that her marriage to Pastor Christian Oyakhilome has irretrievably broken down and regrettably there is no hope of any reconciliation,” said Stephen Goddard, Business Development Manager of Attwaters Jameson Hill Solicitors.

From early this year, there had been speculation that the marriage between Mr Oyakhilome, the founder of Believers Love World (aka Christ Embassy), and his wife, who is also Vice-president of the ministry, was collapsing. Some church members even set up a Facebook page, “Where is Rev Anita Oyakhilome”, in May dedicated to addressing the issue.

The church initially denied reports that the couple were estranged and possibly divorcing. But TheCable news website reported on August 29 that Mrs. Oyakhilome had filed for divorce since April 9, accusing Pastor Chris, as he is fondly called by his followers, of “adultery” and “unreasonable behaviour”.

Pastor Chris has denied the allegations. He however warned church members against analysing his problem with his wife adding that the church is not a political party. He said his wife is a bitter and angry woman who is being influenced by bad friends who are out to seek his downfall. ‎

The pastor added that most pastors’ wives usually think they are equal to their husbands after they get married. He said his wife wanted to overpower the authorities of the elders she met when she joined the Christian ministry.

As the divorce battle rages, Mrs. Oyakhilome’s profile has been pulled down from the church’s website.
