CelebritiesThe First Official Review Of Wande Coal's WANTED Album Is In by officialnaija(op): 3:27am On Oct 26, 2015
After about 6-7 since a proper and solid LP, Nigerian R&B King, Wande Coal is finally back with a new disc titled "Wanted".

The album dropped today and as you would expect, I quick quick went to iTunes and got the album. I was asked to review the record so I tried my possible best and I have come up with this track-by-track review of the new album.

I hope you enjoy it. After the jump:

INTRO (ft. Seyi Law)

The album kicks off with a hilarious opening by Seyi Law which plays on Wande Coal's renowned "black as the devil" joke. It's a really nice way to kick off the album and it basically summarizes whimsically all of Wande's label changing and absence from the industry up until now. A solid opening.

ADURA

Right off the bat, Wande starts off with Adura which just immediately reminds us why we love Wande Coal in the first place - his voice. I would describe the song as afro-pop with that R&B/Soul spice that Wande just possesses in his voice. The production is so dope and the lyrics are reflective and appreciative to God about everything in Wande's life...it's just a solid way to start off the record.

SUPERWOMAN

Come, I don tell una say Wande Coal fit SIIINNNGGGG? The soul and sweetness this guy possesses in his vocal chords is just amazing. This is a love-song that I would say is quite similar or would remind you of "Ololufe" from Mushin 2 Mohits. The song is an instant song mehn, another sure tune on the record.

WE BALL

Nna mehn, this Wande Coal can just be reading the back of Gala wrapper and I would still buy his music...his voice just has that life to it eeehhhh. This is more of a pumping track but I wouldn't say it's like a trap/urban song, I would describe it as "feel-good" cruising kinda music. The song beautifully combines pop, urban, and feel-good music in a beautiful way. Another thumbs up.

SAME SHIT (ft. AKA)

This is what I can now describe as more of trap/urban music on the album. AKA's flow in this song is a definite highlight, and Wande owns his own too as usual on the chorus and his own verse. It's not one of my favorite songs on the record but it's a cool song.

MONSTER

This song sounds like something a "CAPital Hill Music" artiste would record and if that is your kind of sound is a whole nother issue. The song isn't bad, it shows off Wande's more "gangsta", and urban side but again, it's for those days when you just want to feel fly as hell.

SKIT (ft. Falz)

Falz Falz Falz...you can't just help but love this guy mehnnn. This his razz way of speaking is just something that gets me everytime. A splendid addition to the record, and perfectly placed.

WANTED

This is the "title track" and there's a certain pressure that comes with that title naturally. It definitely flows in well from Falz' skit, most definitely, but is it one of my personal favorite songs on the album, nah. It seems like a grower sha, so we have to just wait and see how this one plays out.

AFRICAN LADY

Traditional palm wine love song...the kind music wey I dey like, lol. This is another romantic song but the very very traditional type that just reminds you of whatever comes to your mind when you think of the word "Africa". The song is very o set mehn, and I think this is one that is going to resonate well especially with my Igbo brothers and sisters. Solid tune.

ASHIMAPEYIN

This is a song you will either really hate or really like, I don't think there's an in-between in this one. The song is definitely for a certain kind of mood so depending on when you listen to it, this may present itself as gold or complete nonsense. I can't even decide if I like it or not.

WEEKEND (Ft. Maleek Berry)

The flow he uses would remind you one way or another of Jeremih's "Don't Tell Em'" at some points so if you been dey think am, no worry, no be only you. The song itself is feel-good music as well, and I must say I like it. The groove is dope and the blend with the beat and vocal placements is also really well done. Good music.

PLENTY LOVE

Papangolo music again, and as you know that is never a bad thing with me. Wande's vocals really shine on this track as he sings about having plenty love for this gyal wey don steal his heart. The chorus especially the backing vocals that accompany it is really well done, and really ties the whole song together.

SKIT (feat. IamJimmie)

Another strategically placed skit that keeps the album moving seamlessly. I like how all of these skits just really tie the album together, that is a well thought-out thing to do.

MAKE YOU MINE (ft. 2Face Idibia)

Wande's voice and the melody on the chorus of this song + 2 Face's addition on the track make this song a definite highlight on this album. The production is sick, the vocals blend, this song is a prime example of finished work.

LOWKEY

This song is Wande's try on "dancehall" music as the beat he uses would most definitely remind you of something off a Timaya or Patoranking album, however, Wande separates himself by actually singing and delivering a very "Wande Coal" type melody over the "dancehall" beat. The song is not a highlight for me, but the song is definitely a good song.

IYAWO MI

If you want your wedding song, here it is oh! The song is nice but is nothing really special compared to the rest of the album, especially on first listen.

JELLY

THAT's RIGHTTTTTT! This is THAT song that I can bet money would be swallowed by all the DJs and clubs in Nigeria. The song is THAT kind of song....that song that just makes you want to do some serious shoki. Definite highlight on the album, and definite HIT in terms of radio-friendliness.

BABY HELLO

This song just comes perfectly in the record as it doesn't allow you to recover from the previous track, "Jelly". The familiarity of the music makes singing along very easy and by now if you don't know or love "Baby Hello", nna, I don't know what to tell you.

WANTED [REMIX] (ft. Burna Boy)

For some reason, this song sounds better than the original in terms of clarity of the sound and production. As expected Burna holds his own on the song as well and brings that spice that only Burna can bring to a track. Definitely makes you want to go and replay the original Wanted song.

KPONO (ft. Wizkid)

If this song becomes a single and eventually blows up in Nigeria, I don't even think I would survive people calling their p "kpononono" because that would just be the most annoying thing in this world, lol. The song itself is a funny song that makes your body move for sure and the "kpononono" as annoying as it sounds actually really makes the song.

OUTRO (ft. King Spesh)

It's funny how in the Outro, the King Spesh guy literally praises and highlights all of the songs I highlighted in this review. When you hear the album you would see what I'm talking about.
This song for sure closes the album very well, and just sort of reminds you of the songs you have listened to thus far and puts a final seal on the record. It also serves as the final skit which I really like as the album starts with a skit, and ends with a skit...it shows consistency.

Final Comments: Wande is BACK boys and girls, and with this album he has shown us once again why he has had such a long and successful career. The music is really top-notch, the production is sick, and as expected Wande really delivers in terms of vocals.

Another thing I like about the record is how he divides the album into different sections having the different genres of music on the album go together, and not just mixing everything into one gigantic mess.

Some songs are filler tracks and some are highlights...that is how most albums are, and ultimately I am happy that Wande did a good job of having more highlights than fillers.

Jide's Score: 8/10 (Very Very Positive and Solid Score for a FANTASTIC Record)

CelebritiesGogowe Opens Up About Wild Childhood + Talks About Boys, Wizkid, And Beyonce by officialnaija(op): 8:16am On Oct 17, 2015
One of my favorite Nigerian singers, Gogowe, you may not know her but she did one song called "I No Send". Anyway, she has been hyping this interview she did with www.jideokonjo.com since on her Twitter and now the part 1 of the interview is finally out.

Within the interview, she opens up about her childhood, influences, relationship status, and more.

Enjoy!

PART 1 : The Person

I am so excited to start this!

So, with the creation of this blog, one thing I wanted to prioritize was interviews and getting the opinions of Nigerians: from celebrities to the common Nigerian working in the office. Right now, I've actually done a couple of interviews with people from all works of life and I'm excited to show you all of them as time goes by....it's really good stuff.

In picking who my first guest would be, I wanted to pick someone that is still budding in the industry, and I decided to pick this young lady who I am IN LOVE with currently.

I recently got into her after hearing her song, I No Send, and I just knew I had to have a sit-down with her.

There are 3 parts to this month of Gogowe, and every Saturday over the next couple of weeks till the end of October, you would get a new edition of "A Month With Gogowe".

Without further ado, Part 1 of "A Month With Gogowé".

Hello Gogowe! Let me start by asking the expected first question: Who is Gogowe, and what does the Gogowe brand stand for, especially for people who may not really know you?

I’m a Nigerian musician; I sing, dance and play the piano. Gogowé basically embraces all things African, although of-course I have been influenced by the Western world.

How's your family life? How many brothers and sisters if any, and how can you describe your childhood? Did you and your siblings used to fight over remote? Which childhood games did you used to play? Let us know…

I love my family. I have two sisters and a brother; and growing up was so much fun. My younger sister and I were so so mischievous lol. I was so silly, that I invited friends to a fake party when I was 8. I don't need to tell you what my parents did to me that day. lol. My elder sister was more of the sane child in that house. My younger brother and I played the piano a lot. Oh, and of course we fought over remote. Who didn’t? Funnily enough, I didn't even really enjoy watch TV as a kid. I guess I was just fighting for “fighting’s” sake.

I remember playing ludo when I was younger, especially when my family went to the East during Christmas.

You're currently in school, how's that going? Where do you school, and what exactly are you studying? Do you plan on using your degree?

Yes I got my bachelor’s degree at Emory University; I studied Theater and Film/media. And i’m currently doing my masters in Film and Media Production at New York Film Academy, LA. It’s so so much fun, and yeah, I definitely plan on using these degrees because they’re all related to my music somehow. I will be able to shoot my own music videos in the near future by God’s grace.

From your music and music videos, we can see that Fela obviously influenced you, who else did you listen to growing up and out of those people, who inspired you besides Fela?

Apart from Fela, Beyonce was a huge influence. I also grew up listening to Celine Dion. I love South African choirs so so much—their harmonies, melodies, vocal inflections and all. They inspire me.

Okay to our current industry, who are you listening to right now? What song is currently playing on your iPod? Who is that person that is just doing it for you musically at the moment?

My playlist changes every five days, but i’ve had Wizkid’s “Joy” on repeat for like three days now … Ojuelegba too. I’ve been listening to “Joromi” by Sir Victor Uwaifo as well. I love me some old school music!

Let's talk boys. You are a very beautiful young lady and I'm sure that you have a couple of young men falling head over heels for you...is there any special somebody in your life? Or is your music keeping you warm right now? What's the situation?

Thanks for the compliment but I don’t see anyone falling head over heels o! lol. I don't want to be annoying and say “I’m married to my music” even if i’m so tempted to say that. Anyways here you go: There’s no “special somebody” in my life.

PART 2 | THE MUSIC : COMING NEXT SATURDAY

RomanceHow I Lost My Nipple And Eye Because Of Internet Love - Chinwe by officialnaija(op): 3:01pm On Oct 07, 2015
I came across this story written by a girl named Chinwe recently. The message was sent to me by a friend and after I read it, I just knew I had to share it on my blog when I finally had one (Thank God for this one oh!). It is a very interesting story about a girl named Chinwe who because of "love", entered the hands of the wrong people and got mutilated beyond repair.

Read the sad but enlightening story after the jump:
My name is Chinwe, I am 26 years old, I never graduated for d university, simply coz I was stupid and careless, on my 24th birthday, I received a nice gift, it was a blackberry phone, I always wanted one, it was like a right of passage, my ex-boyfriend got it for me, he was a student like me, didn’t have a job, and I really never cared to ask as he could afford it, my concern at that point was, yes I had finally arrived, other girls in my hostel had blackberries and I would always get pissed when I heard sounds of pings and messages coming into their phones at all hours and I would stare at my nokia phone and wish I could throw it away, but half bread they say is better than none, so I hoped and even fasted to get a blackberry phone, looking back now, if I had the opportunity, I’d have a landline with no internet activity what so ever.

Anyway I got the blackberry phone and even got free BIS subscription, at that moment my life was complete, no more going to the cyber cafes to check my emails, my face-book or twitter, I had it all at my finger tips, life indeed was complete, or so I thought. Anyway, I became addicted to my blackberry and also my social media applications, and since I had constant access, I quickly gained enough followers, and especially guys, mostly because I had a lot of erotic pictures on my timeline, I was popular, finally I felt I was the main girl, everyone wanted to follow me, I didn’t care if it was virtual, it felt good, checking out my profile and having well over 8,000 followers, more than half of which were guys, but one particular guy caught my attention, till this day I don’t know what made him stand out, but we got chatty, he sent me direct messages and I replied, he was quiet a gentleman , and I can’t remember him ever asking for a nude picture unlike the rest of them, so this made me comfortable with him, his name was tobi, he said he was a doctor , I didn’t have any cause to doubt him, he had extensive knowledge and even gave me some medical advice from time to time, we eventually moved from twitter to blackberry chat, we chatted all the time, I got so comfortable with him, I gave him my number, and that would come to be the biggest mistake I ever made.

CelebritiesNawa! Fans Yab Davido For Not Having Six Pack (photo) by officialnaija(op): 4:51pm On Aug 15, 2015
I'm sorry, I am not familiar with Nairaland rules so i don't know if I can post the full story from another blog or if that is a problem. However, I found this story on LailasBlog. The picture is also inside the page, and I don't have MB to download it abeg. If you wan see it, find your way to the LailasBlog ni.

OBO himself, Davido took to his Instagram to turn the eyes of his female (and some male) fans by posting the picture above with nothing but a towel.

Well Naija being Naija and fans being fans, Davido was not met with entirely the feedback he had been expecting as a number of people started calling out his non-existent six pack.

CelebritiesIs Lailasblog The Best Nigerian Blog? by officialnaija(op): 8:55pm On Jul 04, 2015
Let us be honest here oh!

I'm an avid reader of blogs in Nigeria and honestly in recent time, I've noticed that LailasBlog.com seems to post all/most of the news first. Particularly before Linda Ikeji or Stella Dimoko.

If you think I'm lying, check all of the time stamps of all three website's stories...you will see what I'm talking about.

In addition to that, Laila in my opinion has not only more interesting stories but also, more relevant stories. Recently, Linda has been giving news late and posting about "Does this look like _______".

With all of this, I just want to ask, is LailasBlog.com the best blog in Nigeria. When you honestly actually think about it.

The singer took to her Instagram this morning to post the picture posted above with the caption :
