In accordance with a Supreme Court judgment, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has declared that old banknotes of N200, N500, and N1,000 denominations will continue to circulate alongside the new ones until December 31st, 2023.

The cast of “Elesin Oba, The King’s Horseman,” the film adaptation of Wole Soyinka‘s “Death and the King’s Horseman“, has been unveiled.

A few days ago, it was revealed that the yet-to-be premiered film will make its international debut at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September 2022. The film, which is based on true events in Nigeria in 1943, will be the first Yoruba language film to be included in the coveted special presentation category.

Set in the Oyo Empire, between sunset and sunrise, the king’s horseman, Elesin Oba, must commit ritual suicide to follow his deceased king into the afterlife. His best intentions are derailed by his sexual desires, which lead to catastrophic consequences and end in a deadly clash with the British rulers of the day. The horseman is unable to fulfil his ultimate commitment to the king, leaving his spirit to roam the earth, spelling doom for the land and its people.

Production for “Elesin Oba, The King’s Horseman” began last year, and the film is among the multi-title agreements between Netflix and EbonyLife Studios.

The cast includes Odunlade Adekola, Shaffy Bello, Deyemi Okanlawon, Olawale ‘Brymo’ Olofooro, Jide Kosoko, Omowunmi Dada, Kevin Ushi, Mark Elderkin, Jenny Stead, Langley Kirkwood, Ajoke Silva, Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, and more.

The first teaser for Sillo Studios‘ film, titled “Inside Life,” is here.

The film, which stars Samuel Perry (Broda Shaggi), Nedu ‘Wazobia’, Wole Ojo, and Hafiz ‘Saka’ Oyetoro, tells the story of a groom-to-be who is wrongfully incarcerated a few days before his wedding. Getting out of jail on time isn’t enough; he must also learn to withstand the harsh surroundings and escape unscathed.

Tina Mba, Belinda Effah, Funsho Adeolu, Romeo WJ, and Koloman Prosper also feature in “Inside Life”, which is directed by Tope Adebayo.

Barely two weeks after Tobi Amusan, Asisat Oshoala, and Ese Brume‘s success in their respectively spaces, weightlifter Taiwo Liadi wins Nigeria’s fifth medal at the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games.

She won the medal in the 76kg women’s weightlifting event. Taiwo finished on the podium with a combined lift of 216kg.

OfficialUniqueBlog: From Production Manager to Skit Making, how did this develop?

Tontirin: Skit making started for me when Boda Shaggi and I was on a movie set together in which I managed the movie. The title of the Film is “Kan sho si be”. On that set I acted along side me Shagi. So when the film came out I guess Shaggi liked our combination and that lead to him reaching out to me. I thought he wanted me on a movie or production but instead he introduced me to Skit making. We had a production date fixed and instantly he opened an Instagram page for me with the name Tontirin. The skit is doing well for the production management because it automatically gets me good jobs from people and the production manager is also helping the skit making.

OfficialUniqueBlog: What is your relationship with Boda Shaggi?

Tontirin: He is a role model and even more. I will refer to him as my brother brother because I see him as family. ��

OfficialUniqueBlog: So far, are you fulfilled?

Tontirin: Fulfillment is a threshold, after one fulfillment you girdle up for another phase…. We keep wining till death comes….success and fulfillment all the way.

Nollywood actor Nollywood actor Olarenwaju James, popularly known as Baba Ijesha has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a minor, Guardian Nigeria is reporting.

According to PUNCH, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on Thursday sentenced him to 16 years imprisonment following his conviction.

He was convicted of indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, and attempted sexual assault and was acquitted of two of the charges against him: sexual assault by penetration and attempted sexual assault by penetration.

In April 2021, Baba Ijesha was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command, following a complaint by another actor Princess Adekola Adekanya.
