The inhabitants of Iru Egbede community in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State have sought the intervention of security agencies to help find a missing 200-level student of Delta State University, DELSU.

DAILY POST reports that the student, Miss Faith Omodon, of the Department of Public Administration, was said to have disappeared since March 30, 2024.

Residents of the community noted that they have been depressed and devastated by the incident.

It was learnt that the DELSU student was last seen on March 30, after leaving home for farm.

Speaking on the incident, Mr Edward Omodon, the father of the girl, said his daughter had on the fateful day left for farm.

“The whole incident happened when we were holding our national conference.

“We usually have Iru national conference at this time of the year. We were seated inside the community hall when we heard loud wailing outside that my daughter was missing.

“She had left for the farm earlier that morning with a motorbike taking her breakfast flask with her,”
he said.

Also speaking, Mr Ikpoba Johnbull, head of the village vigilante group, explained that as soon as they got the news of the disappearance of the girl in the evening, they followed her mother to the farm.

Johnbull also said that the vigilante group immediately mobilised and combed the area up to Izighiri and Uwumuwe, two neighbouring villages, but could not find any trace of the missing girl.

“We only found the leftover of her lunch flask. We informed neighbouring vigilante groups as we spent that night inside the bushes but there was no result.

“We then asked Mr Omodon to formally report a case of missing person at the Abudu Police Division,”
he added.

On his part, the National Youth chairman of the community, Mr Donald Egboko, appealed to security agencies to help track her the missing girl.

When contacted, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Abudu, Mr Iyayi Kenneth, who confirmed that the incident was reported at the station, said that the case has been transferred to the State Police Command for further investigation.

But when contacted, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, said: “I will find out from the CID department and get back to you.”

Suspected Kidnappers abducted about four people around Emecourt Road Junction, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State on Thursday.

It was gathered that the armed men, alighted from their vehicle, stopped a yet-to-be-identified lady who was driving in a Sports Utility Vehicle around the area, forced her out of her car, bundled her into the back of her vehicle, together with three other persons and immediately zoomed off.

Eyewitnesses near the scene said the suspected kidnappers operating in a Mercedes Benz Sports Utility Vehicle, had stopped at Emecourt Road Junction when they noticed that their vehicle had developed a fault.

One of the eyewitnesses said, “The armed men abandoned their vehicle when they saw that it had developed a fault and stopped a lady who was also driving an Highlander. They forced the lady to the back seat.

“They brought out their victims from their faulty vehicle and transfered them, together with the lady to the Highlander Toyota snatched from the lady.

“But one of the victims, a man, who was blindfolded, removed the blindfold and escaped into a nearby local market while his abductors hurriedly zoomed off with other victims with the Highlander vehicle.

“The incident created panic in the area and around the nearby market as the hoodlums who operated with quick speed had left before the security operatives, including local vigilance group and police, arrived the scene.”

But when contacted, the Anambra State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the incident had not been reported to him, saying that he would make enquiries and get back.

Crime / Police Arrest Soldier For Stabbing Kwara DPO by OgaDeyVex: 6:11am On Mar 22
A Soldier Identified As Suleiman Sidiq has been arrested for stabbing a policeman in Kwara State.

This was disclosed by the spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, in a statement on Thursday.

Ejire-Adeyemi said although the man was brought to the police station on Thursday to settle a complaint, he stabbed Divisional Police Officer Marufu Keji while under the influence of a suspected intoxicating substance.

“On March 20, 2024, at about 1720 hours, a report was received from one PTE, Suleiman Sidiq, a soldier serving at Sector 3 Garrison, Mongunu, Maiduguri, regarding a case of mischief in the Sinawu Town area of Ilesha-Baruba Kwara State.

“During the investigation, it was discovered that the case stemmed from a land dispute. The parties involved were warned to maintain peace and return the following day, March 21, 2024, for further resolution.

“However, the situation took a violent turn when the complainant, Suleiman Sidiq, who was under the influence of intoxicating substances, became so unruly. All efforts and persuasion to calm him down proved abortive; he attacked the Divisional Crime Officer, ASP Okeowo Joel, in the course of intervention by the Divisional Police Officer, DSP Marufu Keji; Suleiman Sidiq brought out a jack knife and inflicted severe injury on the head and stabbed the left hand of the DPO,” she said.

She noted that Sidiq escaped from the station by scaling the fence.

She added that policemen later caught up with him, and he was taken into custody, adding that the injured cop is currently receiving medical attention.

Dear OgaDeyVex,
The picture you used is not the one of the accident you are reporting.

I can tell you for free that the police check point there caused the accident as the truck driver was trying to control the vehicle that failed brake.

The police men carried the truck driver and fled the scene wen mob wanted to descend on them

Even FRSC pick up wud have been burnt there yesterday but their officials were begging that they were not there as at the time of the accident

The painful thing about the incident was the family of 3 excluding the Dad who died.

The only two surviving persons were the driver and a lady sitting behind the driver.

Crime / 15 Passengers Missing, Driver, 2 Others Escape As Gunmen Attack Bus In Taraba by OgaDeyVex: 11:12am On Mar 13
Fifteen Passengers Comprising Women and Children went missing in an attack on an 18-seater bus heading from Zaki/Biam in Benue State to Maihura in Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State, on Tuesday.

The Heavily Armed Men Suspected to be Vigilante Group attacked the bus at Gamkwe Village, located at Maraban-Baisa in Donga Local Government Area of the state.

The Driver of the Bus, Mr. Mpuuga Mbaave who escaped the scene of the incident with machete wounds, while speaking with our correspondent on phone, said the armed Vigilante Group were in large numbers with guns, machetes and other light arms.

“I loaded 18 passengers from Zaki/Biam. Immediately after Maraba, I saw many people in Vigilante Group uniforms, they were many, I suspected something was wrong, I then stopped but one of the villagers told me that I should go saying two members of the Vigilante Group were killed by kidnappers, that was why they gathered, that there is no problem, I should proceed.

“As I moved closer, some of the Vigilante Group started shouting, kill all of them. It’s their people that killed our members, they started attacking the passengers and cutting them with machetes.

They removed all of us, forced us to lie facedown, my bus was still on. When I discovered that it was getting out of hands, I decided to jump up to the bus and left the passengers, my conductor also followed me, all of us were cut with machetes and blood was rushing out of our bodies, that was how we escaped and left the passengers in their hands,” Mpuuga recounted.

The Chairman of Doonga Local Government Council, Hon. Ezra Voka confirmed the incident to LEADERSHIP on phone, saying he was already in the nearby forest in search of the victims.

“Please my friend, I’m already in the bush in search for the missing people, we can’t talk much now till when I get more information from here,” Voka Said.

Travel / Truck Falls On Car, Claims Three Lives In Ondo by OgaDeyVex: 8:28am On Mar 13
Three Travellers lost their lives while one person sustained injuries yesterday after a truck fell onto a car along the busy Ondo-Ore highway.

The truck fully loaded with beer, which belongs to the Nigerian Brewery, was said to have lost control at the Liyetu axis of Ondo town in the Ondo West Local Council Area of the state.

The vehicle on which the truck fell, a Golf 111 car with the number plate BUR 852 TS, was conveying passengers along the route when the accident happened.

Confirming the accident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, stated that the remains of the deceased persons had been deposited at the mortuary while the injured passenger was moved to the hospital for treatment.

She said: “The Command today received a distress call that a Nigerian brewery truck fully loaded with beer fell on a Golf 111 car with Plate No. BUR 852 TS conveying passengers towards Ondo in the Liyetu area of Ondo town.

“The motoring public is advised to make use of alternative routes to avoid being trapped in the holdup, and people whose loved ones use this route should endeavour to check on them.

“The CP is using this medium to admonish the people of the state, especially commuters, to avoid overspeeding or unnecessary overtaking, which can lead to loss of lives and property while driving, as it is better to get there late than not getting there.”
