Now people i come again ^^  grin

Take this quote from the Bible. In Matthew 7:7 Jesus says:

Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

The impossibility of God is visible here as well. Based on Jesus' statement, let's assume that you are a child and you are starving in Ethiopia cheesy cheesy cheesy . You pray for food. What would you expect to happen based on Jesus' statement? If God exists as an all-loving, all-knowing and all-powerful parent -- a "father in heaven" -- you would expect God to deliver food to you grin. In fact, the child should not have to pray cheesy cheesy.

Normal parents provide food to their children without their children having to beg for it. Yet, strangely, on planet Earth today we find tens of millions of people dying of starvation every year.  lipsrsealed lipsrsealed

If you consult the dictionary, here is the first definition of God that you will find:

"A being conceived as the perfect, omnipotent, omniscient originator and ruler of the universe, the principal object of faith and worship in monotheistic religions." [ref]

Most believers would agree with this definition because they share a remarkably clear and consistent view of God. Yes, there are thousands of minor quibbles about religion. Believers express those quibbles in dozens of denominations -- Presbyterians, Lutherans, Catholics, Baptists, Episcopalians, Methodists and such. But at the heart of it all, the belief in God aligns on a set of core ideas that everyone accepts. grin

What if you were to simply think about what it would mean if there were a perfect, omnipotent, omniscient originator and ruler of the universe? Is it possible for such a being to exist? Epicures thought about it in 300 BCE, and he came up with this:

"The gods can either take away evil from the world and will not, or, being willing to do so, cannot; or they neither can nor will, or lastly, they are both able and willing. If they have the will to remove evil and cannot, then they are not omnipotent. If they can, but will not, than they are not benevolent. If they are neither able nor willing, then they are neither omnipotent nor benevolent. Lastly, if they are both able and willing to annihilate evil, how does it exist?"

In other words, if you sit and think about who God is supposed to be, you realize that such a being is impossible. Ridiculous, in fact. cheesy cheesy wink

Christianity EtcRe: Why Doesn't God Ever Answer Prayers? by Ogaga4Luv(m): 10:57pm On Nov 13, 2011
Joagbaje u are now here trying to defend your God . Talking about Principals that govern prayers i believe every principal is from the bible--- now , We're going to take our bible near us and we talk about this issue. . . i huge u should kindly follow up by the same principals u are talking about--- i already have my bible on top of my laps grin grin grin . If the Bible is literally true, then something is seriously amiss. Simply look at the facts.

If "every one who asks receives", then if we ask for cancer to be cured, it should be cured. Right? cheesy cheesy If "our Father who is in heaven gives good things to those who ask him", then if we ask him to cure cancer or even AIDS , he should cure it. Right? cheesy cheesy cheesy And yet nothing happens. lipsrsealed

In Matthew 17:20
Jesus says:

For truly, I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.

If "nothing will be impossible to you", then if we ask to cure cancer tonight, cancer should disappear. Right? Yet nothing happens. Note that if we take the Bible less-than-literally here, the statement "nothing will be impossible to you" becomes "lots of things will be impossible to you," and that would mean that Jesus is lying. cool

Christianity EtcRe: All Nigeria Satanist Lets Meet Here. by Ogaga4Luv(op): 10:50pm On Nov 13, 2011
For too long, so many lies and so much misinformation have been spread about Satan. Many of us have seen him, have conversed with him, and have even been astrally touched by him. Nearly all of us who know him agree concerning his appearance. RHP religions have for far too long, written the book on how they believe him to appear, how they believe Demons to look and these are nothing but blasphemous lies. . . . now is our time to expose all the lies and there's no way u Christian can defend your bad and wrong doctrines grin

Ijele-igbo:
You satanists are blinded to the truth. LUCIFER WAS AN ANGEL, FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE. THE BEST AMONG CREATURE TILL VANITY WAS FOUND IN HIM AS THE BIBLE POSTULATES. GOD DROVE HIM AWAY FROM HEAVEN. HE AND HIS DEMONS. HE COMES TO KILL, STEAL AND DESTROY. HE'S NOT A MASTER WORTH FOLLOWING
Christianity EtcRe: Why Doesn't God Ever Answer Prayers? by Ogaga4Luv(m): 10:35pm On Nov 13, 2011
What would happen if we get down on our knees and pray to God in this way: grin

Dear God, almighty, all-powerful, all-loving creator of the universe, we pray to you to cure every case of cancer on this planet tonight. We pray in faith, knowing you will bless us as you describe in Matthew 7:7, Matthew 17:20, Matthew 21:21, Mark 11:24, John 14:12-14, Matthew 18:19 and James 5:15-16. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen. cheesy cheesy

We pray sincerely, knowing that when God answers this completely heartfelt, unselfish, non-materialistic prayer, it will glorify God and help millions of people in remarkable ways.

Will anything happen. . . huh huh No. Of course not. grin

This is very odd. Jesus makes specific promises in the Bible about how prayer is supposed to work. Jesus says in many different places that he and God will answer your prayers. And Christians believe Jesus cheesy cheesy cheesy --

Pan's Labyrinth
This movie has many wonderful qualities. The acting is first rate, especially from the female actors who brought a subtle depth to their characters. Visually the film makers have created a virtuoso work. There are many wonderful things about this movie. smiley

Was excited to see this movie honestly. . . grin I was expecting a high octane fantasy film with a lot of fairy-tale-ish stories cheesy cheesy , but it was a bit more focused on reality than the labyrinth. It was more centered on the war and it distracted from the Labyrinth's story. However I still loved it. The acting was amazing by the whole cast, and the make-up and effects were amazing. I loved the Pale Man the most. He was so freaky, That is the only horror character that I believe would scare me. However he could not best me in battle. cheesy cheesy

The characters were great, but the story seemed bland. They jumped around too much for my taste. Overall, I do enjoy this movie, and it is worth the money to buy, because it is fun to watch multiple times, as long as it can hit home for you. grin grin wink

Christianity EtcRe: What Is Atheism? by Ogaga4Luv(m): 3:23pm On Nov 13, 2011
cool cool cool

Ogaga4Luv:
Atheism is characterized by an absence of belief in the existence of gods. This absence of belief generally comes about either through deliberate choice, or from an inherent inability to believe religious teachings which seem literally incredible. It is not a lack of belief born out of simple ignorance of religious teachings.

Regarding people who have never been exposed to the concept of 'god': Whether they are 'atheists' or not is a matter of debate. Since you're unlikely to meet anyone who has never encountered religion, it's a very important debate. . . . wink

Christianity EtcRe: Who Created God? by Ogaga4Luv(m): 3:18pm On Nov 13, 2011
Christians consider the existence of their God to be an obvious truth that no sane man could deny. I strongly disagree with this assumption not only because evidence for the existence of this presumably ubiquitous yet invisible God is lacking, but because the very nature Christians attribute to this God is self-contradictory.

It is taken for granted by Christians cheesy cheesy , as well as many atheists, that a universal negative cannot be proven. In this case, that universal negative is the statement that the Christian God does not exist.

One would have to have omniscience, they say, in order to prove that anything does not exist. I disagree with this position, however, because omniscience is not needed in order to prove that a thing whose nature is a self-contradiction cannot, and therefore does not exist. . . . hope u get the point now my fellow Nairaland members? wink

his may seem a strange question- but I always found that I liked the other characters in the film, more than I cared for watching Selene, like: smiley

Lucian
Raze
Tannis
Kraven
Markus
William
Viktor

I guess the Selene storyline, gives the above mentioned characters a reason to run around and do their thing onscreen- but I actually would enjoy just as well a film with these guys, without the inclusion of the Selene/Michael storyline - any other plot-line that would tie the characters together would be fine for me too wink wink

How can this film be good without Kraven, Raze, Tannis etc?? undecided
