This depiction of World War one with Kubrick as director and Kirk Douglas in perfect form, it takes the viewer into the objectivity of it all  . What happens in the trenches, if just from a bird's eye view? His gliding camera in these scenes is remarkable  . Then when he moves into the courtroom scenes, and the following awaiting of the soldier's last call, it becomes heartbreaking, and it becomes one of those rare stories that never loses its relevance. And the last scene shows that Kubrick, contrary to his de-humanizing nature in his films, reaches an emotional peak equal to De Sica or even Dreyer. It gets better every year. A classic of anti-war sentiment.  [/size] |

[size=13pt]Fun movie to watch. Bradley Cooper does an outstanding job. There was plenty of action. I actually found myself wishing this pill really did exist in real life . Watching this film, I felt that the struggles that the lead character faced were well displayed, from his writer's block to his girlfriend to his complete vulnerability as he faces the mysteries of this new-found power that he stumbled across. But the movie is just so much better . This film has Jack Nicholson and Shelly Duvall at their best. (I haven't seen Scatman Crothers and obviously Danny Lloyd in anything else .) Some of the ideas used in this movie are better than the ones used in the book. And the REDRUM scenes are creepier than those in the book. So if you're looking for a great movie, get Stanley Kubrick's The Shining. But count on having nightmares every night for 3 weeks [/size] |

I am not sure what I was expecting, but I wasn't expecting much. Nevertheless I was pleasantly surprised with the chemistry between Brad and Angelina. Great interaction, great lines, and surprisingly humorous. No wonder they ended up together after this movie! Not the storyline I expected, so in that sense, it was a good movie [/size]ijaw_girl: |
