I apologize to Mr. Pullman, for as much as I adore The Golden Compass, I cannot bring myself to finish The Subtle Knife, or the rest of His Dark Materials, for that matter grin grin.

Before I begin explaining why I stopped, let me put it out there that I am not a religious person but have alifestle and path in Satan grin , and that I was not attracted to HDM for the controversy. In fact, I decided to read it because it was recommended as a similar read to Philip Reeve's Mortal Engines. And have no doubts, it was, and I enjoyed The Golden Compass immensely kiss kiss: everything the detailed world-building, the armored bears, the river-living gyptians, Arctic witches, the magical, almost-Victorian London. However, unlike MEC, HDM turns unexpectedly the moment Lyra crosses into our world. Everything I loved about the first book vanished once Pullman started writing about the politics between worlds, angels, and in all, leaving behind the intricate, colorful world of TGC; Pullman lost the sense of adventure and whimsy when he headed into hard-handed religious musings.

Mr. Pullman, I would have enjoyed a children's book version of Paradise Lost immensely, but I feel as if I were tricked into following a pretty lure instead cheesy.

webb jamie You know great books. . . .WOW! kiss

Three stars, not because of what the book was, but because of what I wanted it to be wink.

Yeah they both have some things in common Obinna5000 of Nairaland. . . grin

Having previously seen this film only once and really enjoying it. I was very pleased at the opportunity of a second viewing. I was however disappointed and the film was not as good as I remember it being. It however is still a classic and good film cool .

City Lights
I just finished watching this movie for the third time in this month and wow what a great movie is it. Charlie Chaplin was a great comedian and everybody knows that but it this movie along with some great comedy you get to watch some amazing story of romance with emotions and love grin. In those days there was no sound at all in the movies and the actors have to perform very well in order to convey their messages to the viewers and every single artist in this movie did it beautifully. Virginia Cherrill portrayed the character of blind girl beautifully.

On the whole this movie is great and I recommend it to everyone especially who likes classics and comedy. I give it 10/10 grin grin.

Forrest Gump. . .seen this movie in bits and pieces as late night movie on local tv but I never sat down to watch it from start to end until now. Glad I downloaded it cos movie was simply superb.

Loved the witty punchlines and Tom Hanks nailed it. I'll score it 9/10.
