A 58-year-old trader, Ibrahim Lawal, on Thursday dragged his wife Saratu Musa, before a Sharia court sitting in Rigasa, Kaduna State for allegedly refusing him sex for 48 days.

Lawal, who resides in Maraban Jos area of Kaduna, said his wife has refused to be intimate with him for 48 days praying the court to intervene.

I have tried my best to make her happy and even preached to her on the dangers of leaving me sexually starved, but to no avail”, he said.

On her part, the defendant who resides at the same location with the complainant said she had refused him sex due to his failure to pay her back the N20, 000 she loaned him.

She prayed the court to compel her husband to pay her back her money.

The judge, Malam Dahiru Bamalli, after listening to both parties ordered the complainant to pay the debt he was owing and told the wife to allow her husband enjoy his matrimonial right.

He adjourned the matter until May 6.

The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed has said the $3bn loan being sought by the Federal Government from the World Bank would be deployed for reforms in the power sector.

She said this during an interview with journalists on the sidelines of the World Bank/International Monetary Fund meetings holding in Washington DC, United States.

Ahmed, who is leading the Federal Government’s delegation to the meeting said she would be holding further discussions with the management of the Bank to present how the fund would be disbursed for the project.

She said based on the plan of the Federal Government for the power sector, the loan would be used for the development of transmission and distribution networks to enhance the delivery of electricity.

Ahmed also said the loan would be used in addressing some of the challenges that the country is currently facing in the power sector.

She said, “There is a proposed $2.5bn to $3bn facility for the power sector development programme in Nigeria and this will include development of the transmission networks and the distribution networks as well as removing the challenges that we currently have now in the electricity sector.

We are going to have a full meeting to discuss the power sector recovery programme and back home we have been working a great deal with the World Bank to design how this programme will be implemented.

So we have an opportunity now to have a direct meeting with the leadership of the bank and to tell them the plan we have and how much we need from one to five years.

The finance minister explained that the government would be pushing for the disbursement of the $3bn facility in two tranches of $1.5bn each.

When asked to comment on concerns being raised by the IMF about Nigeria’s debt which stands at N25.7tn the finance minister insists that Nigeria does not have a debt problem.

She said what the government needed to do is to increase its revenue-generating capacity in order to boost the revenue to about 50 per cent of Gross Domestic Product.

She said with Nigeria’s current revenue to GDP ratio standing at just 19 per cent, it’s underperformance is significantly straining the government’s ability to service its debt obligation.

The minister said, “Nigeria does not have a debt problem. What we have is a revenue problem.

Our revenue to GDP is still one of the lowest among countries that are comparable to us. It’s about 19 per cent of GDP and what the World Bank and IMF recommended is about 50 per cent of GDP for countries that are our size. We are not there yet. What we have is a revenue problem.

The underperformance of our revenue is causing a significant strain in our ability to service debt and to service government day-to-day recurrent expenditure and that is why all the work we are doing at the ministry of finance is concentrating on driving the increase in revenue.

When asked why the Federal Government decided to increase the revenue projection in the 2020 budget to N8.9tn at a time when government revenue performance is less than 60 per cent, she said a lot of measures are being put in place to correct the anomaly.

We came across the story after a Twitter user identified as Miss Peters shared it on the popular micro-blogging platform. Miss Peters expressed that the married couple is a family friend.

The Twitter users expressed that the husband revealed that his wife refused to sleep with him for five months. Miss Peters noted that the woman is now begging her husband to take responsibility for the child.

A 30-year-old man, Olayinka Ajao, was on Thursday charged before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing employer’s 104 carton of beer valued at N500, 240.

The defendant, a company driver, whose address was not given, is being tried for conspiracy, stealing and presentation of fake driver’s licence.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Chekube Okeh told the court that the offences were committed on May 23, at 23 Alani Doherty St., Ikeja, inside Guinness Warehouse.

Okeh alleged that the defendant, who was to return 118 cartons of beer to the company warehouse, only arrived with 14 cartons and when the Chief security officer asked him, he could not give any satisfactory reason.

The case was reported at the police station and when the police visited the address the defendant gave as his residential address, at Ijegun area of Lagos, they found he had packed out of the house.

It was there that the police got to know that the driver’s licence the defendant tendered was his brother’s own,” he said.

Okeh told the court that the offences contravened Sections 287,365 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.O Akinde granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until Nov. 6, for mention.

Nigerian international music superstars Wizkid and Tuface Idibia, popularly called 2baba, alongside other African artistes, are set to hit Dubai with the best of Afro-music at One Africa Music Fest.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the music fiesta is slated to hold on Nov. 15 at the Festival Arena, Dubai Festival City.

Other stars listed to perform at the show include ace singer Tiwa Savage, popularly known as ‘African Rhihana’, Tekno, Burna Boy, Zlatan, Kcee and fast-rising female singer Teni.

The artistes mix include Tanzanian singers, Vanessa Mdee and Diamond Platnumz, Souhila Lachhab from Algeria, Ugandan singer, Eddy Kenz, Nhatty Man and LiJ Michael, both from Ethiopia.

Nigerian sensational singer and actor, Banky-W will host the event, with Zimbabwean ace singer Jah Prayzah and Rwandan singer /songwriter Benjamin Mugisha, popularly known by his stage name, ‘The Ben’, expected to also perform.

The event is organised by payment processing company, Interswitch, Air Peace and GTB, among other sponsors.

According to the organisers, the One Africa Music Fest, now its second edition, is a platform to showcase Africa’s best and brightest talents to position the continent within the entertainment industry on a global level.

A 30-year-old man, Solomon Oguneletu, has been arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly defiling his 12-year-old daughter.

The suspect’s arrest followed a report by one Alhaji Semiu Obamuyiwa at the Imeko Divisional headquarters that the victim, a primary school pupil, confided in one of her teachers that her father had been having carnal knowledge of her since 2018 with a threat to kill her if she divulged the affairs to anyone.

It was gathered that when she could no longer bear it, the victim informed her teacher, who in turn, informed Obamuyiwa.

The spokesperson for the command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said upon the report, the Divisional Police Officer, Imeko Division, CSP Monday Unuigbe, detailed detectives to the suspect’s house, where he was arrested.

He stated, “On interrogation, the suspect, who is a driver, confessed to the crime. Investigation revealed that he had been separated from the mother of the girl for some years and the girl is the only product of their union. The victim has been taken to a general hospital for medical care.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, has ordered the transfer of the suspect to the Anti-human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.

Ekiti State has dropped from third to the sixth position among the states practising open defecation across the country.

The Commissioner of Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Hon. Bamidele Faparusi, made the disclosure on Tuesday, during a program organised by Ekiti State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (EKRUWASSA) in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) to mark this year’s global handwashing day in Ado Ekiti.

Faparusi who was represented in the event by Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr Olumide Ajayi said this feat was made possible by the drive-by Ekiti state government to check the age-long practice through enabling laws.

Primary school pupils drawn from selected schools, teachers and Corps Members of Sustainable development Goals (SDGs), Community development service group attended the annual event.

While speaking on the theme of this year’s global handwashing day tagged:” Clean Hands for All”, Hon Faparusi emphasised the importance of handwashing, while also encouraging the pupils to observe a healthy lifestyle by washing their hands with soap and clean water always.

He urged the pupil to make a polite request for soap and water to wash their hands after using the toilet.

On his part, the acting General Manager Ekiti of State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (EKRUWASSA), Mr.Alegeleye Ayodele, said that a lot of diseases can be prevented through hand-washing especially when one used the toilet.

Mr Alegbeleye said the program was designed to create awareness amongst Ekiti people on the dangers of unhygienic practices that could cause Cholera and other diseases.

He added that the awareness is being carried out simultaneously across all local governments in Ekiti state in order not to leave anyone behind in the Sustainable Development Agenda.

The pupils were taught how to wash their hands properly with soap and water. Eneje Great and Adeshina Mercy who spoke on behalf of the pupil thanked the State government and EKRUWASSA for educating them on the importance of handwashing.

Nigeria’s 11 years old, Naomi Oloyede, addressed the UN Office on Drugs and Crime international conference in Vienna, where she called for a better life for children all over the world.

In a video shared via the verified Twitter handle of the UN agency, Oloyede addressed the High-Level#Education4Justice Conference during the UNODC.

Oloyede said, “In the world, we live in, corruption and organised crime have been the order of the day.

Hardly days pass by without us hearing breaking news on corruption. What to do to fight corruption? As a child, I will resist the temptation of peer pressure.

I will learn how to say no to wrongdoings. I will quickly exclude myself from groups planning or committing in my society and I will report to the authorities.

We should have good government. Government that will not engage in corrupt practices. Government that will provide us with enabling environment.

As children, we want to grow up in a place where there is peace, where there is power, and where the rule of law is respected. The future of children and the youths is in the hands of our policymakers.

So, I want to plead with you to join hands together to make our world a better, safe and inclusive place.”


Oloyede’s speech was greeted with a standing ovation from the audience.

In a video making the rounds on social media, a popular pastor, Prophet Odumeje, can be seen fighting with a demon-possessed man during a deliverance session at his church.

In the short clip, the supposed possessed man can be heard insulting the pastor and challenging him to a fight. The man eventually took a karate pose as the battle began.

The ruling party and President Muhammadu Buhari has said that it is not mandatory to present school certificate to INEC - The APC said a person contesting for the office of the president is not mandated by the constitution to submit his certificate to INEC -

The party said that the constitution only requires and demands that the person contesting for the office of the president is education up to school certificate level or its equivalent Following claims by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

And its 2019 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, that President Muhammadu Buhari is not qualified to contest for the last election, the ruling party has said that presentation of school certificate to the electoral body is not mandatory.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the president said that a person seeking to contest in an election for the office of the president is not mandated by law to attach his school certificate as document to the Form CF001 which would be submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

It was reports that the ruling party and President Buhari said Section 131(d) of the Constitution provides that a person shall be qualified for election to the office of President if ‘he has been educated up to at least school certificate level or its equivalent.

They said from the constitution, the question of tendering a certificate, or "the mountain, which the petitioners have unfortunately made out of the molehill of a particular certificate, does not arise.

The respondents also said that the constitution only requires and demands that the person contesting for the office of the president is education up to school certificate level or its equivalent.

The Federal Government said on Friday it had lodged a complaint with the National Broadcasting Commission against live s3x on stage during the ongoing reality show popularly known as Big Brother Naija.

The government also said it had concluded arrangements with Startimes to come out with a modified BBN that would reflect the true Nigerian culture where Nigerian food would be eaten and Nigerian dresses worn.

The Director-General, National Council for Arts and Culture, Otunba Segun Runsewe,, stated this when the President of the National Council of Women Societies, Dr Gloria Shoda, visited him.

He said that in 2020, the NCAC would represent the 2008 Nudity Bill titled ‘A Bill for an Act to punish and prohibit nudity, s3xual intimidation and other-related offences in Nigeria,” sponsored by the former chairperson, Senate Committee on Women and Youth, Eme Ekaette.

We are going to represent that bill You can’t fight a battle without a legal framework; we are definitely going to be conscious of that”, Runsewe assured.

Manchester United are so desperate to sell Argentine defender, Marcos Rojo and are willing to pay the Argentine defender to leave, the Mirror reports.

Rojo has been told he has no place in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans after the arrival of Harry Maguire for £85 million in the summer.

The Argentine was close to joining Everton at the end of the English transfer window but the deal fell through.

United chiefs are still hopeful they can offload the defender who is earning a whopping £130,000-a-week at Old Trafford.

However, clubs are unwilling to pay his £130,000-a-week salary.

Everton decided a move was too expensive but United are ready to hand him a significant portion of the remaining £13.5m he’s due to earn on his contract in a bid to get him to leave on a permanent basis.

Clubs in Spain and Italy want to sign him on loan but United want to sell rather than arrange a temporary deal.
