To create a valuable gig, just search for a service you can offer and a service you know the demand is high for. Then create a gig around it (there are so many write-ups on the basics of gig creation on the internet, Google is your friend). You can have more than one gig offering different or even similar services.
My gigs are based on legal letters, contracts, legal research and marketing research, and so far I've been consistently getting orders.

As much as i would like to flaunt my Nigerian flag to the moon and back, the USA flag puts food on my table FASTER.

It is unfortunate but it is what it is.

It is not just because you are a Nigerian, it is because ENGLISH is not your NATIVE language. So Native buyers(which by the way make up the majority on these micro-job websites) would make Native speakers their first choice. Of course, some of them who have more open minds or have had great experiences with non-native speakers would have no problem hiring you but they are the minority.

It's just like going to an American to write me an article in Igbo language. Yes, there might be some of them who can write Igbo well but i would have some doubts and can't help but feel like i am gambling with my job when i place such orders.

I would advice anyone in doubt to create 2 accounts, one Nigerian and one USA. The sales you get on each account would help you make up your mind.

I studied fiverr for months before creating an account and i discovered that these factors drive up your sales significantly.

1) Being a U.S native Speaker(Flaunting a US flag)
2) Being a female( Female Profile Photo, not too young and not too old. Middle age is good)

Using the official fiverr forum to promote your gig

Though i must confess, fiverr does it for me. Ugh at the risk of being racist I so detest those guys. If I just see an invite to bid from anyone from those Asian countries I will just vex lol. I can never ever bid on their projects EVERRR. Its good you dumped the project. Everyone knows their rep now so it would not look too bad that you have one or two abandoned projects.

Just avoid them in future and never do those off site interactions thru email unless you are close to the client. Do everything thru Freelancer and make sure the 100% milestone has been paid even before pressing that ACCEPT PROJECT button.

I just transacted a withdrawal through him yesterday. It was very smooth and painless lol. I didn't even have to leave the house, saw my deposit right in my balance.

Steps
- Contact him. I used his WhatsApp contact.
- He will give you a PayPal ID to use for withdrawal straight from your Freelancer account
- wait a day or two for the withdrawal to be processed from Freelancer
- Once you are your Freelancer account has been debited of the needed amount you can be sure he will convey your funds into your account same day. Mainly in minutes

Today is Wednesday, one of the days for applying for withdrawal on Freelancer (the next will be Sunday). If you do a withdrawal application today you can get your money on Friday. I definitely recommend @hisenjos.

Thanks. I tried withdrawing on my account, but I was told I have to complete my profile before I could do so. Seems I need to take the U.S. and U.K. English tests before my profile can be completed. I'm quite reluctant to do this, as freelancer have already deducted so much of my hard earned from my account, through fees and subscriptions. I just h8 these kinds of people. This has happened to me in the beginning. I didn't just let it go though. I made sure I stalked the client's profile and bid on all his jobs so that I could badmouth him in the message box where people could see I even stated that the user was using a fake country, that he is not from US but from one of those Indian Asian countries. It was after those complaints and the ones I sent to Freelancer that I noticed Freelancer found a way to make sure you can't choose a fake country in your profile mission accomplished!!!

Seems he was impressed by the article, because when I told him I won't work with him again, he was almost pleading. His dictatorial attitude suddenly changed.
