Hello everyone, please when evaluating my degree with IQAS is it only mt LLB degree I'll need to have evaluated or both LLB and law school? As I've just wasted my money with WES like this. Thanks
You only need to evaluate your LLB with IQAS for your degree to be evuated as a professional qualification. Law school BL isn't necessary. Cheers!

You claim the expatriates that come to Nigeria are bottom of the barrel and they still come to the country as Project Managers and make $20-50K a month mostly due to the security premium they receive.
Hmmm.. Where is your evidence for this? $20-50k really??

Dude no where or country is secured this days..
You're right. No country is totally safe, but some countries are much more safer than others. You can't compare the amount of violent deaths and crimes in Nigeria to any Western country. What with kidnappers, armed robbers, Boko Haram, police brutality, and fulani herdsman? Western countries may have some of these problems, but certainly not at the level of Nigeria. No country is perfect, but making decisions all boils down to a game of comparison (i.e. which is better or worse) and going with the lesser evil.

RuudVanNisteroy:

No one is disputing what you stated about Nigeria. It is the worse country I ever lived in and in all my travels by far the most dangerous and disorganized.
However, if you have the connections in Nigeria, you can make a fortune in the corporate world and achieve your full potential based on merit. Why do you think expatriates rush to Nigeria? They make more money in Nigeria than they would back home.
I think you guys need to stop this narrative of expats rushing to Nigeria because it is not true. In fact, the opposite actually obtains. Nigeria is regarded as one of the least considered destinations for expatriates. Expats generally consider South Africa or even Ghana if they want to experience Africa. In practical terms, how many oyinbos do you actually see living in Nigeria compared to Nigerians in other countries? The few expats that come here are those who cannot find anything good elsewhere and are bottom of the barrel in the expats pool.

The fact still remains that there are few opportunities in Nigeria for you to reach your potential as an ambitious young person. Merit is hardly considered in this country and there's hardly any commensurate reward for effort. In a population of more than 200 million people, how many people actually have the connection or the opportunity to reach their potential? This is despite the abysmally low standard of living and HDI indexes plaguing the country. We really need to be realistic and stop seeing things through rose colored glasses. The cons of living in Nigeria severely outweighs the pros, especially as a young person who wants to live a good life.

See this link on a report of Nigeria being among the 10 least considered countries for expats globally. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.pulse.ng/bi/lifestyle-nigeria-is-among-10-least-considered-countries-of-destination-for/ysmcv1e.amp

Hello house,
Please anyone with contact for UNIBEN transcript and ready to do the running around for WES documents (if required) in UNIBEN. I'm in Lagos, and the nature of work wouldn't permit me the luxury of time to do this for my wife as she can't travel now due to some issues. I'm ready to pay for the running around. I understand that sometimes, frequent visits to the Dean's office, generation of remita, reminding them of emails from WES even through physical visits etc is required. If not, please anyone who has gotten his/her ECA through UNIBEN, should kindly provide details of how to go about it or contact details of anyone (e.g a facilitator) who could assist on behalf of an applicant and charges a fee. Thanks
PM me, I have a contact that helped with mine, but it may not be possible during this lockdown. Cheers!

Hey guys please urgent question:

In the case of FSW, does CIC request for pay slips to verify work experience? Assuming you worked in the company about 2 years ago and don’t currently work there anymore.
Has anyone ever been requested to submit pay slips as additional documents?
I don't think payslips are absolutely necessary, if you have other evidence that you worked where you claimed to work. What's more important is the reference letter from your employer. If your employer isn't a well known organization, it's advisable that you supplement the reference letter with other documentation. That's where payslips may be needed, but you can use other documents if payslips are not available, for example: employment and promotion letters, work ID cards or statement of account showing deposit of salary into your bank account. Any, or a combination, of those should perfectly suffice, even if you don't include payslips. Cheers!

LLB/BL. I went through your posts and discovered you are my learned friend. I remain loyal sir. Pls should I get my BL evaluated as well by CES since ICQAS are off the grid for now? How did you go about getting the transcript? I am in Lagos as well and the time to get to Abuja no Dey.

Who has gotten transcript from UNIBEN recently? Any contact that is reliable I can use? Make Una help a brother.
I finished from UNIBEN as well and was able to get my transcripts relatively easily through the help of a staff in exams and records. I had to pay some money to facilitate it though, but it was relatively easy and quick and I didn't need to travel down to Benin to get it done. You can PM me let me give you the staff's contacts.

I don't have an idea of getting law school transcripts as I used IQAS. But, I think it's possible to get it done without going to Abuja. I've heard about people who were able to get it done by emailing law school and paying the prescribed fees. You can also source for a reliable contact in law school to make it easier. Cheers!

LLB/BL
LLB/BL is sufficient considering your age and work experience. You may use IQAS for evaluation of your LLB to give you points equal to a professional degree/masters (which I personally used and it worked for me) or you may use WES to evaluate both your LLB and BL for two or more certificates, which may give you lower points than the IQAS evaluation, but should still suffice to get a favourable CRS. IQAS is on hold now, though, so you may consider using WES. But, in all of this, you'll need to score very high in your IELTS. Cheers!

Dear house,

Please are there lawyers in the house that have received PNPs? If yes, what province and how did you go about it? Thanks
Check Manitoba. I didn't go the PNP route though, so I'm not 100% certain but, at least from results gotten from the web, lawyers and Quebec notaries are among the in demand NOCs in Manitoba. Cheers!
Politics / Re: Court Grants Victor Giadom Access To Operate As APC Acting Chairman by ogalawyer(m): 6:44pm On Mar 16, 2020
MelesZenawi:

Let Oshiomhole head back to appeal court and vacate this order also.

Stop confusing yourself.
Bro, the original court order that gave rise to the circumstances leading to this present high court order has been stayed by the court of appeal. It simply means that all parties return to the status quo prior to the first order, that is Oshiomole remain as the chairman. This second order from the high court has been rendered null and void by the court of appeal order (which is a superior court) as the matters leading to it have been erased (or suspended) in the eyes of the law. An order of the high court cannot be in conflict with that of the court of appeal on the same subject matter. Where that happens, for any reason, irrespective of which court first gave judgment, the high court order will be automatically rendered null and void to the extent of its inconsistency with the court of appeal order. Otherwise, we will have a situation where Oshiomole is the substantive chairman and Victor Giadom is the acting chairman at the same time, which is not possible.

Besides, the high court order didn't appoint Giadom to act, it only permitted him to act without restraint in the event that he is appointed by the appropriate organ of the APC. He still needed to be officially appointed by the appropriate organ of the APC for him to assume the position of the chairman. The court doesn't have powers to unilaterally appoint the chairman of a political party in Nigeria. Even without the present court of appeal judgment, Victor Giadom will still not become the APC chairman until he has been officially appointed by the appropriate organ of the party. This has become academic now though as, as I earlier stated, the high court order has automatically become null and void due to the court of appeal judgment.

I hope you're clear now?

Cheers!

Politics / Re: Atiku's Petition Dismissed In It's Entirety - Lead Judgement by ogalawyer(m): 4:54pm On Sep 11, 2019
Truth be told and sentiments aside, Atiku doesn't have much of a case, and his lawyers messed up the little case he had. No reasonable tribunal can base a judgement on mere heresay evidence. You need to present concrete evidence, which Atiku's legal team couldn't do. The tribunal judgement and rulings have actually been sound and in line with the letters of the law.

Family / Re: Is The Belief True That A Person Brings Badluck/Goodluck To Another? by ogalawyer(m): 11:54pm On Dec 16, 2018
UyaiIncomparabl:
Two days ago, I had a lengthy discussion with few friends. we talked about everything, ranging from family, relationships to trivial matters. In the course of the discussion, one of them chipped in a question which struck my senses. Thus, this pushed me into bringing it here. I hope I find intelligible answers to this mystery. He said;

I've been at loggerheads with my girl. Since we started our relationship, my life has been stagnant, and not even in parts but wholly.

Since we began, my religious life has been in a sorry state, my business has failed to flourish. In totality, I'll say she has been nothing but 'Bad-luck'. That statement was bewildering. I found, and still find it hard to believe that he could be so myopic.

Now, the hazy question which hasn't ceased to recur is; The notion that people (In relationships) bring Bad-luck/Good-luck, is it true/false?

Cc: Lalasticlala
I'm not superstitious, but I think some people do bring "good luck" or "badluck" to others. It's all about vibes. Every person emits energy, which could be negative or positive. When you're paired with someone that emits negative energy or vibe, especially in a relationship, you may find that things don't really go well. The opposite is true with someone that brings a positive vibe. Just my personal observations though.

Law is the worst degree one can ever get especially in Nigeria and Africa. All of my lawyer friends regret ever getting this degree. They are one of the most hungry people in Nigeria...
Not true bro.. Don't generalize please.. Many lawyers are thriving in the country, including young ones.. What's required is searching for the right opportunities, patience and good practice. Besides, lawyers not doing well is a microcosm of the society we find ourselves. What sector is actually doing well in this country?
