Resees:You're right. No country is totally safe, but some countries are much more safer than others. You can't compare the amount of violent deaths and crimes in Nigeria to any Western country. What with kidnappers, armed robbers, Boko Haram, police brutality, and fulani herdsman? Western countries may have some of these problems, but certainly not at the level of Nigeria. No country is perfect, but making decisions all boils down to a game of comparison (i.e. which is better or worse) and going with the lesser evil. |

RuudVanNisteroy:I think you guys need to stop this narrative of expats rushing to Nigeria because it is not true. In fact, the opposite actually obtains. Nigeria is regarded as one of the least considered destinations for expatriates. Expats generally consider South Africa or even Ghana if they want to experience Africa. In practical terms, how many oyinbos do you actually see living in Nigeria compared to Nigerians in other countries? The few expats that come here are those who cannot find anything good elsewhere and are bottom of the barrel in the expats pool. The fact still remains that there are few opportunities in Nigeria for you to reach your potential as an ambitious young person. Merit is hardly considered in this country and there's hardly any commensurate reward for effort. In a population of more than 200 million people, how many people actually have the connection or the opportunity to reach their potential? This is despite the abysmally low standard of living and HDI indexes plaguing the country. We really need to be realistic and stop seeing things through rose colored glasses. The cons of living in Nigeria severely outweighs the pros, especially as a young person who wants to live a good life. See this link on a report of Nigeria being among the 10 least considered countries for expats globally. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.pulse.ng/bi/lifestyle-nigeria-is-among-10-least-considered-countries-of-destination-for/ysmcv1e.amp 3 Likes |

RTreasure:I don't think payslips are absolutely necessary, if you have other evidence that you worked where you claimed to work. What's more important is the reference letter from your employer. If your employer isn't a well known organization, it's advisable that you supplement the reference letter with other documentation. That's where payslips may be needed, but you can use other documents if payslips are not available, for example: employment and promotion letters, work ID cards or statement of account showing deposit of salary into your bank account. Any, or a combination, of those should perfectly suffice, even if you don't include payslips. Cheers! 3 Likes 1 Share |

nymphomaniac:I finished from UNIBEN as well and was able to get my transcripts relatively easily through the help of a staff in exams and records. I had to pay some money to facilitate it though, but it was relatively easy and quick and I didn't need to travel down to Benin to get it done. You can PM me let me give you the staff's contacts. I don't have an idea of getting law school transcripts as I used IQAS. But, I think it's possible to get it done without going to Abuja. I've heard about people who were able to get it done by emailing law school and paying the prescribed fees. You can also source for a reliable contact in law school to make it easier. nymphomaniac:LLB/BL is sufficient considering your age and work experience. You may use IQAS for evaluation of your LLB to give you points equal to a professional degree/masters (which I personally used and it worked for me) or you may use WES to evaluate both your LLB and BL for two or more certificates, which may give you lower points than the IQAS evaluation, but should still suffice to get a favourable CRS. IQAS is on hold now, though, so you may consider using WES. But, in all of this, you'll need to score very high in your IELTS. Cheers! 2 Likes |

Politics / Re: Court Grants Victor Giadom Access To Operate As APC Acting Chairman by ogalawyer(m): 6:44pm On Mar 16, 2020 |
MelesZenawi:Bro, the original court order that gave rise to the circumstances leading to this present high court order has been stayed by the court of appeal. It simply means that all parties return to the status quo prior to the first order, that is Oshiomole remain as the chairman. This second order from the high court has been rendered null and void by the court of appeal order (which is a superior court) as the matters leading to it have been erased (or suspended) in the eyes of the law. An order of the high court cannot be in conflict with that of the court of appeal on the same subject matter. Where that happens, for any reason, irrespective of which court first gave judgment, the high court order will be automatically rendered null and void to the extent of its inconsistency with the court of appeal order. Otherwise, we will have a situation where Oshiomole is the substantive chairman and Victor Giadom is the acting chairman at the same time, which is not possible. Besides, the high court order didn't appoint Giadom to act, it only permitted him to act without restraint in the event that he is appointed by the appropriate organ of the APC. He still needed to be officially appointed by the appropriate organ of the APC for him to assume the position of the chairman. The court doesn't have powers to unilaterally appoint the chairman of a political party in Nigeria. Even without the present court of appeal judgment, Victor Giadom will still not become the APC chairman until he has been officially appointed by the appropriate organ of the party. This has become academic now though as, as I earlier stated, the high court order has automatically become null and void due to the court of appeal judgment. I hope you're clear now? Politics / Re: Atiku's Petition Dismissed In It's Entirety - Lead Judgement by ogalawyer(m): 4:54pm On Sep 11, 2019 |
Truth be told and sentiments aside, Atiku doesn't have much of a case, and his lawyers messed up the little case he had. No reasonable tribunal can base a judgement on mere heresay evidence. You need to present concrete evidence, which Atiku's legal team couldn't do. The tribunal judgement and rulings have actually been sound and in line with the letters of the law. 85 Likes 7 Shares |
Family / Re: Is The Belief True That A Person Brings Badluck/Goodluck To Another? by ogalawyer(m): 11:54pm On Dec 16, 2018 |
UyaiIncomparabl:I'm not superstitious, but I think some people do bring "good luck" or "badluck" to others. It's all about vibes. Every person emits energy, which could be negative or positive. When you're paired with someone that emits negative energy or vibe, especially in a relationship, you may find that things don't really go well. The opposite is true with someone that brings a positive vibe. Just my personal observations though. |

What's required is searching for the right opportunities, patience and good practice. Besides, lawyers not doing well is a microcosm of the society we find ourselves.
