The difference is that he did not hide is intention. That guy was a Bitcoin player and people in the Bitcoin community wanted is pardoning. He was an assets and Trump promised that he would be freed. At least Americans have the right to reject what he intended to do with is pardoning. Tinubu should have told Nigerians is intention of pardoning drug mafias so that we can test the water. |

nairalanda1: As I have said many times, the solution is simple...raise the fees....or ask government to take a loan that may pass 10-20 billion dollars or more just to fund universities and pay world class salaries.
I mean, if government could not pay the N3 trillion naira promised in 2009, in 2012 when oil prices were at 100-130 dollars per barrel, dem go pay am now when oil prices are low.
Many of you will quote me to shout saner climes. IN saner climes, it is either high fees, or high taxes (half your salary in places like Denmark and Germany, in the latter you pay higher if you are richer)...or both (see the UK...that's why a UK citizen takes loans for university, unless you are from Scotland).
If you tell me you should not compare Nigeria to saner climes because minimum wage, then that means that you are admitting that we should keep our bad universites. Remember our budget is half of what say the UK spend on police. And our education budget is one third of what Harvard spends on itself. And we are not spending it on univertsites alone
Again in sane climes most people on minimum wage cannot afford university there. Either loans or scholarships if possible
It's funny when people come and abuse me for telling the truth. And then they go call me agbero...when I knew about this since 2013. That was when GEJ told the lecturers some cold hard truths...about university funding. Before I engaged your ignorance talk tell me what was Nigeria budget during GEJ and what is the same budget now. |

The usage of the word repentance is inaccurate used sometimes. Repentance are for Christians those who are born again who already have accepted what we see as altar call. Those who are not born again what they need is the remission of sin. That means giving you life to Christ, having the blood of Christ blurting your sins and becoming a new man. |

TheBizGenius: And finally, I meet someone who is willing to state where the real issue is. Kudos to your intelligence, sir.
The issue is that we don't know the project design, the project scope etc. We just know say "Bridge go dey, sandfill go dey, train go dey, etc".
Maybe we might even find out that helicopter pad go even dey and it's the costs that's made this project expensive.
The government has hidden that part from the beginning. Una award contract wey nobody understand. Na daily question you dey ask for nah. So how did they then come up with the total cost for the project since they are not aware of the cost per kilometre. They are just hiding in secrecy because what the minister is saying does not make sense. Because at planning you plan for all the conditions of the road. They already know where the road will go through. Was survey not done. Except all these things were not done they just come up with we want to build a coastal high way without a proper study of the terrain and awarded the contract based on the kilometres they are already aware of. |

FatherLord: My own question is what figure did you quote for the bank you borrowed from ? . How did they arrive at the amount they borrowed you for the project ? The painful thing some people here are defending him like he did not submit quotation for the job. What was in the quotation. Before construction they already know where they want to build the road along. They already know the challenges and their quotation will be based on every situation. If compensation will be done for a particular people you include it there. So how did they now arrived at the figure for the project. |
Politics › Re: Umahi Fires Back At Makinde Over Lagos-calabar Highway Cos by ogascomax: 8:05pm On Oct 11, 2025 |
Quelme: Mankinde is a senseless governor. An Oluwole engineer who doesn't have a clue about road construction.
Who do you give cost per kilo on a road which transverses different terrain? But Rufai and Makinde are senseless.... You are not smart at all. Does this thing you said really make sense. Then they should not be a budget for the construction of the road. It should become an open cheque contract since they are not aware of situations they will meet on the way. Even in planning you plan for contingencies. Didn't the contractor see those terrain before submitting the quotations for the job. Are they not supposed to know what they are likely to see as the go further. Was survey not done. Everything was taken into cognisance. You factored all the problem and cost them. They are aware of the path they are following and are aware of the challenges they will meet on different occasions. So the contractors can wake up tomorrow and say I did not know we will meet rock on the way at a particular part so the money should be increased. Then again he comes I did not know we will meet this situation here please will need increment and it goes on and on. What about the once that has been completed why didn't use that to calculate possible averages at different areas. |
