3. Here in Igboland, a Hausa okada rider will pick and drop you at a destination and charge you as low as N150. Tricycle chatter as well. An Igbo okada man will pick and drop you at same destination and charge you as high as N500.Tricycle chatter is a different ballgame for an Igbo rider. He charges N1, 200 for the same place a Hausa rider collects N600 for.

4. You go to market to buy meat. A Hausa meat seller will add "jara" if you jokingly request it. An Igbo seller will quarrel with you and ask if they added "jara" to him at where he bought the animal.

5. In the North, a distance of 10 kilometres is charged N300 as fare cost. In Igboland, you are charged N700. They'll overload the vehicle with passengers and smelling stuff at the back. If you complain, they pick anger and increase the volume of the music appliance. It's not as if there's disparity in the cost of fuel between North and South.

6. In Igboland, transport companies will be using a bus to load five others at the same time thereby delaying the takeoff of the movement of the first bus.

7. An Igbo trader will hoard and place times two the purchase cost of a good or ware for a gain. He doesn't care the plight of the consumers.

After living in the North of Nigeria, it'll be hard for you to cope with living here in the South East. The cost of living in the South East is very high. Still, the Igbo will be the first to complain how bad the government treats them and the economy. Christmas season is in view. Fare price will quadruple. From Awka to Enugu will be N6000. Now, it's N2500 by Sienna. Fuel pump price won't add money as to why the price is rising. U got this all wrong... Igbos re progressive, competitive and always desire the good things of life. They believe in giving themselves the best of anything life can offer. The average igboman sends his children to the most expensive schools in town or abroad, they feed their families with good foods, they build or rent very comfortable houses conducive enough for them and their families,they take care of immediate and extended families, they wear good clothes and so on. All these things re what the igboman factors into his business and pricing of his services in order to be able go meet up with these huge responsibilities.

The Hausas on the other hand, are the direct opposite of the igbos. They re somewhat conservative in their approach to businesses and making money due to the fact that they do not have much responsibilities or aspirations in life(not in a derogatory way). Most times they re content with the simple life. They live a solitary life, more like all man for himself kind of life. No attachment to parents or siblings. They only start taking family responsibilities when they get married. They don't live in expensive houses nor eat expensive food. They don't send their kids to expensive schools nor aspire to travel abroad for education.

So the average northerner's simple lifestyle determines how much he charges customers in his business. Since they do not have much responsibilities, they tend to lower their prices.

Hello guys, I'm thinking of going into a pawnshop business here in Nigeria and I need Ideas from people who have either done it before, currently doing it or those who know how the business is run.

Was watching "American jewelry and loans" some years back and discovered that this could be a very good business to do in Nigeria especially now that the economy is not really looking good and many people need small loans that can sustain them for the week or month.

Also,the rise in the activities of loan sharks has also come with a lot of complaints from customers of high interests rates for small loans. Interests could be as high as 40% for a two weeks loan.

Pls I need u to tell me what u think about a pawnshop ownership in Nigeria. Is it doable in Nigeria based on our laws, people and our environment. I forgot to say that I have never heard of any pawnshop anywhere in Nigeria.

Is it that many have tried and failed?
