Politics › Re: TERRORISM: Today's Self-defense Could Become Tomorrow's Bigger Problem by ogashman(m): 6:16pm On Jun 19 |
1Alex: As terrorists continue to attack communities across Nigeria, many youths of communities are beginning to take the bull by the horns to defend themselves because they no longer have hope on the government.
While nobody can blame people for wanting to stay alive, this trend could create a bigger security problem for Nigeria in the future.
The more communities arm themselves, the more weapons will spread across the country. The government may eventually defeat the terrorists, but how will it recover thousands of weapons already in circulation?
Some of these weapons could end up with kidnappers, armed robbers, political thugs, cult groups, and other criminals. Community defense groups formed today could also become rival armed groups tomorrow.
History has shown that it is much easier to stop insecurity from growing than to disarm people after they have acquired weapons and learned to depend on them for protection.
If government does not decisively tackle terrorism now, Nigeria may eventually face two problems instead of one: terrorists on one hand and widespread arms proliferation on the other.
A stitch in time saves nine. Stop what you are smoking |

They are tired.... everyone is tired.
But I hope they won't repeat the same mistake they made in 2023. Religion and tribe don't put food on the table only quality governance do which the current government doesn't provide.
To them I say, vote wisely in the coming elections.
Not after throwing stones at Tinubu you then vote in another incompetent government. |

Obi/Kwankwaso ticket will win Tinubu any time any day twice on election day.
You just need to factor in new supporters both candidates have gained in these four years, which I believe would be in millions because hunger has dealt with a lot of people and they are now seeking alternatives. |

tinsel: Why do some people hate their country so bad that they will only want to hear bad news about the country ? I am confused honestly. Everyday some people wake up they pray for bad Nigeria for their own country. This has gone beyond politics. They prey for nepa darkness, for fuel price to rise, for que in the fueling stations and for naira exchange to go high. The same country they are in and will join in the suffering. They want Trump to come and bomb Nigeria even if it will affect them and their families. What is going on? It is beyond my reasoning U get sense so.....if the government of the day is disposed to doing the right thing, nobody's prayer can stop Nigeria from moving forward. If government decides to engage in developmental strides , no yeye prayer can stop their progress. So tell the government to do the right thing and stop making excuses. |

Am sure if it is Nigeria, Bwala would have pick a fight with Rufai or accused him of being rude just because he his connected to the power might. Shame on our politicians with two mouths. Foreign Affairs › Re: Six US Troops Killed In Iran War Brought Home In Dignified Transfer by ogashman(m): 4:23pm On Mar 08 |
Ironfaceman: The families of the six US Army Reserve soldiers who were killed this week in Kuwait watched as their loved ones were brought home during a dignified transfer at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware on Saturday.
President Donald Trump, first lady Melania Trump and Vice President JD Vance joined top military officials observing the solemn event on an overcast afternoon.
The military identified the six service members killed in an Iranian drone strike in Kuwait on March 1 as Maj. Jeffrey O’Brien, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert Marzan, Capt. Cody Khork, Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor, Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens and Sgt. Declan Coady. Marzan is believed to have been killed in the strike, but is still awaiting final positive identification by a medical examiner.
As the transfer cases were taken from a C-17 across the tarmac at Dover Air Force Base, Trump saluted while wearing a white ball cap with gold “USA” lettering.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Dan Caine, Attorney General Pam Bondi, White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and governors and senators from the soldiers’ home states were among those in attendance.
It’s a very sad day,” Trump told reporters on Air Force One after the transfer. He said that the parents of the service members “were so proud” and that such deaths are “always a very sad thing.”
All six soldiers were assigned with the 103rd Sustainment Command, an Army Reserve unit out of Iowa. They were serving in the Middle East with the 1st Theater Sustainment Command, which oversees the supplying US forces throughout the Middle East.
Brig. Gen. Clint Barnes, the deputy commanding general of 1st Theater Sustainment Command, said this week that the soldiers served “relentlessly, consistently, and fearlessly.”
“They were the ultimate ambassadors for freedom,” Barnes said. “They represent the best of what our country stands for. May God grant their families peace and comfort in their memories. We will never forget them.”
Four of the six soldiers identified had served in the military for roughly two decades, while the youngest had just enlisted in 2023. Several of them had deployed together to Kuwait with the same unit previously, a former senior leader within the 103rd Sustainment Command told CNN.
https://edition.cnn.com/2026/03/07/politics/dignified-transfer-us-service-members-iran-war Even DJT went to pay them tribute. See how they respect people who have served America. Over here, their dead bodies are thrown to the back of a truck like garbage. No proper burials talkless of the president attending them. We watch videos but don't learn a thing. |
