Ikeja all the way to Oyo were Lagos Protectorate and later on it became known a as Western Region
Ikeja Ikorodu Epe and Badagry were all part of the Western Region under Awolowo in the first republic.Awolowo developed the Industrial park at Ikeja

Lagos The capital city had a Minister under the Federal government just like Abuja today.

That did not include any of Badagry,Epe,Ikorodu or Ikeja .which were added to "Lagos" the Federal capital when Lagos state was created in 1967
