Lawrence Nomanyagbon Anini, the famous Nigerian criminal, who threatened Benin City in the 1980s, alongside his colleague, Monday Osunbor. He became almost a household name in Nigeria, to the extent some parents used it to reprimand their children who engaged in criminal activities. Uzoma Nwaozuzu Nwachukwu, was an Igbo Superman. He hailed from Mbaitolu in Imo state. He was conceived in 1931 and passed on October 31, 1992. The Imo State governor, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma has directed the state commissioner for education, Prof. B. T. Ikegwuoha to issue a query to the Vice Chancellor of Imo State University, Prof. Adaobi Obasi, on alleged misuse of the February 2020 impress of the institution. The Imo State government yesterday made public of its findings in the payroll system regarding pension fraud which involved eight persons said to be receiving N330 million annually as a pension. ....As the VC, Prof. Eze commends the gesture. 8th July 2020 marked yet another remarkable day to cheer within the FUTO Community in its entirety as two different teams separately comprising staff and students of the revered University presented two distinct mechanical ventilators to the Management of the institution ably led by Prof. Francis Chukwuemeka Eze, FNIP in their effort to combat the deep-rooted dreaded Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic that is bedeviling the global human race. Upon the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Management under the watch of the Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof. F. C. Eze thought it wise to assemble a team of staff of the University that could assist the University in manufacturing a set of ventilators. The team, therefore, was duly funded by the institution. The Management did not relent in providing every needed support and encouragement, despite the challenges, to ensure the team delivered as expected. The members of the team of staff are: Engr. Prof. N. V. Ogueke, Engr. Dr. Godswill Nwaji, Engr. Boniface Okonkwo and Engr. Samuel Ehujuo who are of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics departments. In his presentation, the Team Leader, Engr. Prof. Ogueke took time to highlight the parameters that made up their own product. He disclosed that the gadget could best be described as Quantum-Mechanical Ventilator. On the part of the students' team comprising Isaac Uchechukwu Edmund and Ebulue Ifeanyichukwu Henry, their product was designed with variable parameters which are essential, towards ensuring its suitability for all kinds of individuals or patients. Senior citizens in Imo State have taken to the streets of Owerri on Tuesday to protest over six months of pension arrears owed them by the Imo State government. Many of the pensioners complained that they are yet to receive a dime since the current administration of Senator Hope Uzodinma to over the reigns of Douglas house. According to some, the last payment came during the administration of former Governor Emeka Ihedioha, although they had outstanding arrears of over ten months before his emergence. Covid-19: Tension in Imo as lawmaker tests positive. The Chairman of Imo State Taskforce Committee on COVID-19, Prof. Maurice Iwu, has announced on announced the shut down of the Imo State House of Assembly complex, following a COVID-19 scare. According to report, the coronavirus scare was triggered by a report that a member of the state house of assembly has tested positive to the Corona virus. The committee chairman also announced the death of a woman who died of COVID-19, after she was delivered of twins. He said that the sample results came back negative. Speaking to journalists during the committee's weekly media briefing in Owerri, Prof. Iwu said that the I'm State House of Assembly would be shut for two weeks to enable the government fumigate the complex and enable the other lawmakers and their aides to self isolate.
