Mystiqme:Very true. |
Walspring:Yes ke !! I am chilling and having a nice time. I'm sure Imperiouxx is too. How are you? |
slimmy05:I am here sir ![]() I hope everything is working out good for you. |
Stenon: Ms Nas is right. You need to contact the schools graduate coordinators ASAP. You chose top geology schools that accept hundreds of applications a year. Priority would be given to applicants who have their first or graduate degree in the geological, physical, and natural sciences. Applicants who have taken (and passed) at least two years of Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and/or some geology classes would be given preference. Applicants with research experience and/or one or two publications would be considered first. However, if you have taken all or most of the classes listed above; then you are good to go. If not, you may be required to take those classes first including some undergraduate (Introduction to geology, Mineralogy, Sedimentary petrology, Igneous Petrology, Metamorphic Petrology, Hydrogeology, Paleontology, Petroleum geology, and Structural Geology) and/or graduate geology classes, including the summer field class before advancing. This conditional admission of course can only be justified "only if" you have a good CGPA, bad a*s GRE scores, strong LORs, and a very strong statement of purpose among others. Please be informed that it may take you between 2-3 years (depending on how fast you are) to take these pre-requisites, and another 4-5 years to complete the PhD program. I will advise you to apply to as many schools as you can. Choose up to 3-5 safety schools just in case. With your record, funding is not guaranteed but its a possibility. How is A.C.E today? I used to be a regular at the gym, Oduduwa hall, Fine-Arts studio, and the market. Many of my friends finished from your school. P.S - When writing potential supervisors or graduate coordinators, do not say you have a degree in Physics Education. Please say that you have a dual degree in Physics and Education or a degree in Physics with a minor in Education. Let your transcript do the rest of the talking. |
Snazzygirl:In that case, talk to me and let's see if I will be blue in the face. I am too gentle man to use "harsh" words on a woman that I want. I will suggest we both unmask, talk in private, and outside of NL. We don't want to put our business out there ![]() Check your email. |
MsNas:I know where to get you. I don't have your time. |
Snazzygirl:Did you miss this ? I get what I want especially with girls. You will date me, unless you don't give me a chance to talk to you at all ![]() |
Snazzygirl:I get what I want especially with girls. You will date me, unless you don't give me a chance to talk to you at all ![]() |
Snazzygirl:Please trace me, it would be nice to see you at my door and put that banner. Can I send you my address? I live in California ![]() |
Snazzygirl:Hahahaha, what if I now confess that I have been eyeing you for long? ![]() |
kpolli:All women are evil bro. But I would advice you to marry the lesser evil. Congratulations on your new job. |
bigfrancis21:I do not disagree with you. And I like your balancing attitude. Enjoy your holiday. |
slimmy05:I do not want to delve into the uncle-ish thing again since Exxy said he would continue to go to school and hope for the best, so I wouldn't want to drag this further. But just FYI, some friends and relatives are naturally wicked, and I would suggest that you don't just apologize to any one with the mindset that America is that tough. Please make sure to apologize for the right reasons. Enjoy your MLK holiday. |
bigfrancis21:YES! YES!! YES !!! |
slimmy05:Slimmy, in a situation where you have only one side giving us the details (especially when we have no access to the uncle), then we have no choice than to interpret, and advice based on whatever he says, with the assumption that he is saying the truth. That BigFrancis doesn't like Ojah's straight judgment doesn't discredit his points. It is evident that Profojah doesn't like BigFrancis judgment too? Every one is entitled to his/her own opinion. We are all here to learn. |
I have said this so many times on here. I will repeat it again. Do not come to America with the hope that things would sort itself out. At the minimum, have your tuition for 2 semesters (unless you have a scholarship) and not just come here hoping that one family member will house you or cater for you. That won't happen. In agreement with BigFrancis, I have noticed that those who have relatives in the U.S are the ones always complaining. Why? Because they are expecting too much from their uncles or aunts and get disappointed when that doesn't happen. Many of us here came to America without knowing anybody. I slept in the hotel for several days when I newly came before I got an apartment of my own. I knew what I was coming to do in America and was well prepared and wasn't expecting help from anybody. As bitter as this might sound, having enough money is the way. You don't need anyone. Also, some people come here and study some courses that are not in high demand. I am always an advocate of STEM, any day, any time. I got a job because I was a STEM major. Just yesterday, Kpolli announced here that he got a job too in the West Coast - most likely in the Silicon Valley or the Bay Area, because that is where things happen in the IT world. Although, there are some people who finished school and still haven't gotten their dream jobs, but they are still managing some where, any how because they went to school. Some even went further to pursue a PhD. A good Nigerian-American girl would even be ready to marry you if she knows you have an advanced degree. That would make your searching easier as well. Overall, bring enough money when coming here and complete your studies. If you have no money, then be prepared for the worst and don't blame any uncle or aunty for that. Everyone is on their own in America. |
Slimmy, BigFrancis and Profojah are both right. It is just a matter of both having their own views and/or opinions. See, in America, your best friend in class would be the one to tackle you/ ask many questions or disagree with your points during class presentations. One may begin to wonder if such friend is a "hater". At work, when you give presentations, your close co-worker would be the one to tackle you the most or ask questions, and/or disagree with your findings. That doesn't mean he/she hates you; he is only tying to pass across a point too and ask questions and disagree when necessary. I have since realized that that is the best way to learn in life. We all can't think the same and face one direction. I honestly think we should encourage such meaningful and reasonable discussions devoid of insults here. Personally, I like it because I learn more when people disagree with me. |
exxy:Nice !!! All the best bro. Good luck. |
Amefrica:Things are going on well so far, I have no reason to complain. God is in control. Compliments of the season to you too. |
exxy:So, what do you want to do now? What are your plans? |
Amefrica: What are you looking for here?? ![]() |
MsNas:You this girl. SmH ![]() |
Mystiqme:Thank you sir. May God continue to bless you. You took the words right from my mouth. exxy:See Exxy, I will go straight to the point and won't blow hot and cold. Let "falling out of status" be your last option. Not until your school tells you that you've been dropped; please keep fighting. If you can work under the table as an illegal, why can't you as an F-1 student in status too? If you can look for someone to marry as an illegal in NY, why can't you also look for someone to marry while going to school? Everything is a risk but going to school is more realistic - you can still control that. Your school give scholarships, you have an accommodation, and an on-campus job. Just fight to get the scholarship and keep going. Again, do not fall out of status unless all your options have been exhausted. |
Visa Officer: Thanks for the clarification. Now he doesn't need to consult a lawyer again. Since it's one thing to obtain a visa, and another thing to be allowed entry into the U.S at the POE; what does a possible Visa issuance for the applicant mean at the POE? There have been several cases where people have been turned back at the POE just because the officer in charge thinks he/she has a dual intent. Is there anything you would advise any one with a similar case like that of Lucas to say or evidence to show at the POE to overcome dual intent? Thanks again. |
LUCAS99:Scenario 1 - You can not file an advanced parole with your present status. You can only file advanced parole if you have a pending I-485. I guess I don't need to go further on this since you don't even qualify to. Scenario 2 - A more likely scenario. |
profojah:I replied. |
slimmy05:You are most welcome. I have missed you guys too. I've been somewhere on planet taking life easy ![]() |
imperiouxx:Imperrioux, Remember she said a green card holder and not a US citizen. It definitely takes time if a green card holder will be filing because a visa number has to be available. If I were her, I would let the guy file even as a green card holder, and wait - No one knows tomorrow, the rules may change. Whichever that comes first between the guy becoming a citizen which automatically brings the filing to be current or your Visa number now available is still a WIN - WIN situation. An exception to this would be if the LPR filing is currently married or if his green card is based on marriage to a U.S citizen. Of course, he may want to become a citizen first, divorce, and then file for you. |
slimmy05:Hello Slimmy, I see you hit the embassy few days ago. Congratulations on your Visa. You have paid your dues and you definitely deserve the best. I wish you all the best in life. Welcome to the United States. |
LUCAS99:F-1 Visa Application: Non-Immigrant Intent. Form I-130: Immigrant Intent. I honestly don't know how you can claim to have both intents at the same time under the law. This may amount to immigration fraud in the face of the law. I remember you from here and I remember your case. I know you are a genuine candidate and have good intentions. However, the USCIS is somehow vague on filing a pending I-130, applying for a visa, and travelling outside of the USA. One thing I know for sure is that you can't file a I-485 and travel outside of the country without an advanced parole. That would mean that you have abandoned your case. I know several people whose relatives have petitioned for them in the past and were able to obtain a visa and beat the POE officials. Their case is so different from yours because they didn't declare any where in their application that they have relatives or have a pending I-130 application. Some were lucky to get away with it while some didn't. I guess it boils down to the luck factor here. Honestly, I wish I could give you a solid and concrete answer but my hands are tied. I like to say what I know for sure and won't like to mislead you. But make use of everything that I have said here and please make sure to consult an experienced immigration lawyer. It looks to me like it is much more than what we think it is. Only a good lawyer maybe able to find any loop hole(s) and use that against the USCIS especially when certain sections of the law are ambiguous. All the best bro. |
Mystiqme: Yes, I am from Ondo Kingdom. The only town in the Southwest where we speak our dialect freely and with pride ![]() |

I'm waiting for him to provoke you.
