Travel / Any Very Good Hotels In Ikorodu That Have Wi Fi Access Please? by okadabwoy: 5:48am On Aug 17, 2011
Hello and good morning to you all. I'll be travelling to Nigeria in a few weeks time, and i'll be staying with relatives in Ikorodu, i'm also looking for any really nice comfortable hotels in Ikorodu please, and i'm hoping that they have wi-fi access as well. If anyone can please kindly recoomend any good hotels in the Ikorodu area that would be much appreciated, if they have websites, than even better!!!! lol  Would like to have wi-fi acess as well please.

Also can anyone pls tell me the current exchange rates for £ to Naira IN Nigeria please?? , I already know how much it is in UK, but I need to know how much the MALLAMS in Lagos are offering for £ to Naira, lol thanks loads

Also for part of my time whilst staying with relatives I may have laptop with me or tablet notebook, is it very easy to get wi-fi credit so that I can internet access whilst there plese?? I need loadz of information on prices, shops that I can purchase from, etc.

I havent been to Nigeria in over 10 years, so the more info I can get the better, I know Nigeria has moved up with internet access, etc, so I just need to be prepared please, I dont know whether to assume that i'll be getting Dial-up connection or any full broadbanc connection whilst there, but i'm hoping that I can at least get a REASONABLE internet access use on my laptop, at least to use email, facebook and just generla surfing the internet, as I DO NOT wanna use internet cafes there UNLESS its a last resort, lol.

I would appreciate as much advice as possible, thanks loadz

Travel / Forgot To Print Online Nigerian Visa Application Form! Any Advice Please? by okadabwoy: 6:21am On Jul 30, 2011
Hello and good morning you all. I have a slight problem please, and i'm hoping to get some good advice here. Yesterday evening, I applied online for my nigerian visa for my Uk passport, I managed to get through all the pages(dont ask me how, lol), and ive paid for it and I got my application and my reference number emailed to me, I've logged in and I was able to print my Visa payment slip and my  visa acknolwdgement slip, and I have been given a date to come down to the embassy and this is all ok, THANK GOD!!! smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley

But this morning after looking at the requirements for docs, it seems that they want a copy of the online application form for me to bring down as well, when i logged back into my account with my application no, and also ref no, I can only view my visa payment slip and my visa acknowledgment sllips, and NOT the actual application form that i filled!!

So i'm a bit stuck here, I used the OPEN ID link to register, and when i log back in with my registered username and passowrd, the form is now blank!!!  So i'm not sure whether i'll need to start typing of each page out again, and then print off each page.

Any advice/suggestions would be much appreciated!!!
thanks

Travel / Has Anyone Been To The Nigeria Embassy For A Visa For Within The Last 6 Weeks? by okadabwoy: 11:24am On Jul 28, 2011
Hello and good morning to you all. I posted a previous post in this same tourist section yesterday, and i did get some help, but I may have not stated the topic well, so here we go, lol.

I'm a UK citizen of Nigerian descent, that lives in UK, i'll be travelling home in a few weeks time, (first time in loooooaadz of years, lol), and I realize that I have to apply for a visa at the nigerian embassy @ Charing cross. I've been made aware that the application is now done online, payment etc, fair enuff, I need some clarification on a few issues please.

Firstly, it seems to state on the webiste that a specific date will be given when i apply for me to bring all the docs, mu UK passport and submit my application,, as its quite busy at my workplace at present, and I may not be able to go on the date that i'm given, is there the option to CHANGE the date please  This is vey important for me as there is a huge possibility that i may not get the specific date off.

Secondly if I apply online, how quickly do i get a date anyway?? The next 2 days i'm off from work are August 9th and 10, so i'm really HOPING that i can be given either of those days to lodge my application, lol smiley smiley

Thirdly, ive read on the website that I may need a letter of invite.  smiley smiley smiley I know that they have procedures but a letter of invite to go to my motherland to see my family??  I do have a nigerian surname by the way, so will that make any differerence, lol smiley smiley smiley

I'm not being paranoid, but i just wanna get there and things go smoothly, but at our embassy, u never know, lol

! would appreciate any suggestions, advice etc, from nairalanders out there, especially peeps that have gone through the new process of visa application. and may thanks to the advise on my previous post.

Warm regards

Travel / Re: Do I Need A Letter Of Invitation To Take To The Nigerian Embassy In The Uk ? by okadabwoy: 9:15am On Jul 28, 2011
Many thanks JJM, much appreciated for this. Just that I heard that the procedure has now changed, as its online now to apply and pay. This new proceudre just startws within the last 2-3 months, as PRIOR to around March this year, it was the normal way that u mentioned, just print the form online, bring all your supporting docs, get your ticjet, pay with your postal orders and come back to get the visa.

I went with my sister to the embassy in 2008, then we didnt have to book any appointment, we got there, submitted her application and she gave me a letter and the following week i picked it up for her and it didnt go to badly then, lol

Now it seems to be different as u have to register online, pay online, and print the forms, and that also i heard that when u pay online it gives you a date to come down and submit your passport for the visa as well, and its just heard for some people to get certain days off from work(like me), lol. Thats why i was just hoping to go on one of my days off from work.

Or do u think i should post a new topic?? Something like: Has Anyone been to the UK embassy for a visa within the last 6 weeks?? lol

I just wanna get their and have a smooth procedure, but with the naija embassy, one must expect the unexpecteed, lol

Hi Siena, may thanks for the info, I would also appreciate if a few more people could post comments for my post, and also I need info on whether the visa application thing is by date appointment ONLY, as i know before you just had to go ealry in the morning, and  it was NOT by appointments, and u lodged your UK passport with the form, and you could pick up within a few days(I think this was early this year)

I also needed to find out if its now by appointment only, can i reschedule my appointment for a date that i'm off from work?? this is if my employer is unable to release me from work on a specific day

many thanks
Travel / Do I Need A Letter Of Invitation To Take To The Nigerian Embassy In The Uk ? by okadabwoy: 8:52pm On Jul 27, 2011
Hello and good evening to everyone. This is my first post here as i'm new, lol. I just have a quick query please, I'll be travelling to Nigeria in a few weeks times, to see family, as I currently live in the UK. I know that the process of applying for a visa has changed as everything has to be done online now, etc, and thats ok for me, as I appreciate that the Nigerian Govt has there rules and regulations., ive been going through the guidelines of applying and it mentions a letter of invitation. As i'm of nigerian descent, and I speak 3 nigerian languages fluently is this a must for me?? Do i actually have to get an invite letter emailed to me from nigeria?? my parents are elderly and they may not understand why they have to write out a letter for their own child to come to the motherland, and just that I don't wanna go to the embassy and get rejected becos of this invite letter. Have any UK citizens had to do this please??

Also it seems that the application for visa is by appointment only, and I may not be able to lodge my documents on the date they give me, so am I able to lodge my application on a day that i'm not working?? This is due to the fact that it may be hard for me to get the day off at work. I would very much appreciate any help/suggestions that can be given please,

Warm regards
