BREAKING!! Court Stops Banks From Operating Accounts Without BVN
Bank account owners who are yet to have a Bank Verification Number (BVN) run the risk of forfeiting their money to the federal government within the next two weeks unless they can justify their ownership of such accounts.
A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted a temporary forfeiture order on such accounts.
It also restrained commercial banks from operating such accounts for the meantime and directed them to disclose the owners of the accounts and the status of the funds in them.
Justice Nnamdi Dimgba handed down the order on October 17 while ruling on an ex-parte motion filed by the Federal Government and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF).

At least 27 out of 29 persons reportedly killed in early morning attacks at Nkyie-Doghwro community of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State have been given a mass burial.
The President, Irigwe Development Association, Sunday Abdu, said the victims were hacked to death in a classroom.
“Twenty-seven out of the 29 people were buried in one grave. We later found two other dead bodies. It is worrisome because the 27 people already buried were murdered in a classroom, given security cover by soldiers, where they supposedly sought refuge,” he said.
Mr. Abdu said this on Monday evening in Jos at the Nigeria Union of Journalists’ press centre during a press conference on the killings in Bassa Local Government.

IPOB: Kanu Returns To Court Today
The embattled leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, is expected to return to court today for the continuation of his trial.

Kanu was granted bail by a federal high court when the court sitting in Abuja, adjourned hearing on the suit filed against him by the federal government, till today.

However, it is unlikely that ‎the IPOB leader will be present in court.

For about a month now, ‎there has been accusation and counter-accusation over the whereabouts of Kanu as his whereabouts has remained unknown, following the raid that was carried out by the military in his Afara-ukwu residence in Umuahia, Abia state, on September 14, 2017.

The Nigerian army on September 14, 2017 stormed Kanu’ s residence in search of what they called “technical items.”
