Reflect7: Without the “prehistoric” achievements of Africans, including the invention of Writing, Mathematics, Architecture, Medicine, Iron Smelting, Mining of minerals, the Calendar, Law, Public administration etc etc, without these and many other Black African inventions, You and the rest of the world would be living in caves.
There are structures - pyramids and temples in Sudan that are thousands of years older than any building in Europe or America.
Africa is the Cradle of Civilisation.
Thank your lucky stars for the existence of Africans. You guys are in delusion, these so called inventions are prehistoric, what were Africans doing in the last 6000 years after inventing these so called things, why couldn't they build on the legacies of those things? |

NASA is going to build a nuclear reactor in the moon.Let's say something goes wrong and it alters the natural balance of the solar system, it will affect everyone including innocent blacks trying to survive in AFRICA.
My point is these races, the whites ( Americans and Europeans) and Asians ( Japanese and Chinese) are literally side by side determining everything that goes on in the world and happens to human beings.
They are almost semi God.
While blacks sit back and pray and pray to God ,yet have no control over their lives.
Is God really listening to Blacks?
Africans can't even build an aircraft, while other races are racing to go to Mars.
It's a food for thought, just the sheer backwardness of the BLACK race.
What were these so called elders who always demand funny respect doing in their time? I mean the men that got independence from the colonialist.
They bequeathed nothing, absolutely nothing other than religious ferventy, poverty, strife, low quality education, zero manufacturing base, poor infrastructure, zero stem research, poor quality of life, insecurity, corruption. All negatives.
I mean pls what are the legacy of the baby boomer GENERATION of blacks especially NIGERIA?
Pls higlite them if there's any! |

gregyboy: No kingdom dead or alive could invade benin in the Niger coast do not be sentimental,.. They invaded in the late 1800 when benin wss occupied with their own civil war and punitive wars with other vassal state, benin-akure happend around this time, probably the esan reported to benin they gsve them the little assistance they could give them because benins were occupied in the 1800, the nupe didn't succeed to penetrate esan, that is to tell you how the benin empire was so strong, i don't know why the edo north failed to drive them, as kingdoms drove far way from the benins they become weaker, the benin britsh war happened in the 1897 same year the esan-nupe war, if the benins had defeated the britsh the Nupe invasion of edo north would have been reversed quickly, the entire north would not dare invade benin, benin was at war in many places at thesame time even when the britsh invasion happened benin was at war in akure, and in agbor and other places The Nupe dealt severely with the esan though,we can't tell what would have happened if they got to Benin cos they never did.so it remains in the realm of speculation |

The British fought the Ashanti 4 good times in major wars, the Ashanti even defeated the British in one of the wars, the other was the Benin expedition, which is on the same scale as the ijebu WAR, the British fought Sokoto and Kano. But the major war which white officers were killed was the ekumeku war fought by the anioma |

gregyboy: Truth be told the britsh attacked weaker nationalities and weaker tribes, Ghanaian and South Africans were seen as weaker compared to the benins thats why they attempted to invade them with common weapons in thier disposal they only dare to bring down benin when they invented the maxim weapons that was to their advantage and they never dared to strike until the weapons was brought to shores of the Niger coast, the maxim weapon was invented in 1884 and benin invasion was 1897, they had to write letters to get acess to the machine guns before thry could dare invade benin, and the weapons they got from yhe letters sealed the whole of west african fate because after benin had fallen guess who fell next south Africa and Ghanaian Nigeria had shrewd states at the coast that prevented the British from mapping inland n knowing the geography of the inland, this prevented the British from attacking because they didn't really know what to expect inland unlike Ghana and SA were for Ghana there were liberal states like the fante at the coast that cooperated with foreign elements n for SA they were not coastal at all,so the British through the earlier settled Boers knew the geography of the inland areas so they were bold enough to attack Once the British started knowing the geography beyond the coast through the Niger river expeditions coming from the upland river in upper volta through to lokoja and started moving in gradually and setting up bass in lokoja they became bolder and eventually attacked, those expeditions were reconnaissance and spying operations |

If you wanna weep, save the tears for your people. They're in a worse state. Imagine risking drowning, just to have a semblance of a respectable life elsewhere.. But note that there's this wrong impression that Nigerians are the main people drowning in oceans to Europe, point of correction should be made that Nigerians actually constitute a minority of people drowning in the Mediterranean sea to get to Europe, most of the victims are people from French speaking countries like Senegal,Mali, guinea, few from Gambia( English speaking) .NIGERIANS despites is large population constitute a minority |

gregyboy: Nope because they feared the benins, the benins controlled the full Nigeria at that time, they knew benin had weapons that could match their weapons and the cost of war with the Niger coast would have been too expensive to risk if they were to risk it, when they finally invaded benin to bring down Nigeria, they alresdy invented the maxim machine gun of 1884 few years later in 1897 the struck benin and the weapon they use in striking benin was what tgey use in bring down the full Nigeria and taken to Ghana and South Africa they had been fighting for years with crude weapons, that they wouldn't have dare to try to usebwith the benins Partially true but the Benin were not in control of all Nigeria ,they were not even in control of Edo state as it is today, you people forget that the Nupe under Fulani leadership invaded up to esan land,is it the British whom the Nupe feared that would now be afraid of BENIN? |

GothamCities: According to you!
And the Ijebus are not Yorubas àbí? Who fought the Adubi war? Who fought the wars attached in screenshots?
The British eventually employed a different tactics for the Yoruba. Taking advantage of the internal crises, they supported different factions against others. And when their supported section wins, they started ruling through the king of the winning faction, using subtilty. Yorùbá was not subjugated like they did other tribes. They came in as friends, helped in warexcjange trades, and then, ruled by proxy until colonialism became deeply entrenched. You people like to twist narratives, the adubi war was more or less just riots an uprising not a war in REAL sense.not a single white man was killed in that war.infact there was no war against the British in all yorubaland were a single WHITE man was killed. |

GothamCities: I don't know why you guys hate the Yorubas so.mucn that you must always lie to undermine the Yoruba race. The Yoruba of all people? A tribe that ruled from Nigeria to Ghana and still had regiments in iIvory Coast? What do you take the Yorubas for? Oyo empire ruled vast lands in an empire that lasted 600yrs, and was only defeated by the British in the late 1800s. The only luck the British had was that the Yorubas were engaged in internal wars among themselves as at the time the British invaded. The war would have extended much further into the 1900s.
The numerous civil wars within the Yoruba people at the time enabled the British to confront the Yoruba in sections and not as a whole army. Yet, the war still extended till 1918 when they fought the Adubi war in Ẹgba land.
What do you take the Yorubas for? The Yoruba never fought the British, except the ijebu who were easily defeated. The Yoruba corporated with the British, infact they willingly sold their sovereignty to the British like the efiks did |

adekunle0000: What about the over 32 years Ekumeku resistance of the Igbo People of eastern Nigeria? There were also active resistance in Northern Nigeria, however shortlived it was. I think the only place there is no record of any skemishes against the colonialist is Yoruba land. The Benin kingdom under Oba Overamie actively fought the whiteman. Jaja of Opobo (an igboman from present day Abia State) put up a stubborn resistance.
Abeg make una dey try read history without sentiment. The ekumeku was not fought by the mainstream Igbo but by the anioma, which is a mixture of Igbo, Edo and igala elements. |
Politics › Re: Tribes The British Respected During Colonial Rule in Africa by okpouman: 11:16pm On Aug 06, 2025 |
The Zulus resistance was more noted, the Kikuyu resistance was more like a protest riot it wasn't really WAR.
Most of the Nigerian tribes corporated with the British or were easily defeated.
It was mostly the very small minority tribes that resisted the British, albeit due to their size they could not have huge impact, most of the larger tribes like the Yorubas, Hausa-fulani, mainstream Igbo,Nupe, igala, jukun, efiks etc either capitulated easily or corporated with the British,
The Edo did not corporate with the British but we're easily defeated, the anioma, esan, somorika, bahumono, igede were the main groups that really fought the British and drew blood, felling many of the British officers and infantry.
The major tribes till today are coons, they are so subservient to the British and to whites in general yet funnily they brag the most about being fathom warriors and have the loudest mouths. |

Reflect7: Not true. Go and study the history of the colonial invasion of Nigeria and Africa. Heavy wars were fought, with huge casualties. Over 200 African cities were destroyed by the colonial invaders. Several in Nigeria, most famously, Benin.
And the invaders were Colonisers and mass murderers, not “colonizers”, as you outrageously put it.
Go somewhere to rewrite history, not here. Many Africans colluded with the British and other colonisers against fellow Africans ,example most of the wars fought against African states were fought with African infantry who composed the majority of the British forces. In some cases the British were even invited, like in the case of yorubaland in which the British were invited to settle the 16 years kiriji civil war fought amonst the Yoruba states.the British were invited to mediate and settle the war and they took advantage to make the Yoruba states sign off their sovereignty. Likewise amongst the efiks who willingly signed off their sovereignty. Yes ,there were wars with the British, but in most cases especially in NIGERIA the British already had strong involvement and influence in the politics of those states before the wars,it wasn't like a sudden direct attack in most cases. In some cases the British were a saving grace, like for the Okun Yoruba, who were under severe attacks and oppression from the Nupes. The Okuns pleaded with the British to help them throw off the Nupe yoke. In summary, the British colonisation was a complex system, it wasn't always like a direct invasion, many of the African states had in many cases signed off their sovereignty willingly or unwittingly. |
