Yes, because you have no idea how other tribes perceive yoruba. After fulanis, yorubas are the most worthless tribe in naija. Go and find out. There is a problem with being yoruba and truly, its a shame. Try and find out from many other tribes, not igbos and hausas.

Typical yoruba reasoning. So there are no yorubas living a life of crime and drug. As shameless as you are, you pray for God to bless those foolish drummer beggars who have two hands and legs to struggle and earn a living. Which igbo man with two hands do you see begging or making noise with drums. And you say God bless their hustle. Fullish you.
Who are you calling foolish? Do I look like your father who sold you for a bag of drugs? Or your mother who spread her legs to let an aboki man play lotto with her pucci for a bag of apku?

Let me repeat it so you can hear because we know apku dey block your neurons from sparking.

Yes, God bless the hustling of Yoruba men who make money for music. They're out there making money legally. They play music, you pay. If you no like am, go and hug transformer.

Call it what you want.

These are hard working men trying to make a living instead of living a life of crime and drug dealing like ibo people are known for.

I pray that the Lord bless their hustles.

BTW, they're simply spreading the Yoruba culture.

I love this thread because of many reasons:

It is informative,

It educates

It shows the chest beaters where they belong

From today, you will see that there noise making will reduce.

They contribute next to nothing in Nigeria, no food from them, less than 0.5% of the crude is from them, nothing moore than crime and criminality comes from them but they are usually the first to shout marginalization, oppression, our oil, etc

Let them learn in a hard way like this
Ibos are known for chestbeating. Nothing can help the children of crime.

It even took a Yoruba man from the government to make their auto assembly plant go international.

Yorubas own Nollywood. cheesy cheesy Both the English and Yoruba language sectors.

neoOduduwa:
I've been eyeing the entertainment industry and our grip on it is pretty solid. We are going to show potopoto slaves how it's done, we Omoluabis back our claims with facts

Movie Industry

First of all let's clear the air about who started Nollywood and who it belongs to. I will keep saying it that Omoluabis are humble achievers who don't make noise about their success unlike some uncultured arrogant fools who always tune their volume knob to Max whenever they make little precedented achievements. Claiming that we pioneered Nollywood would be arrogant and that would put us at the same level with them. So, basically, I'm just going to debunk their ridiculous claims to owning Nollywood.

Ibos are always quick to cite Chika Okpala and his crew who made waves in the 1980s with their sitcom on NTA titled "The New Masquerade" as the pioneers of Nollywood, But can one really conclude that they're the pioneers because of the TV broadcast? Can anyone account for the roots of the modern Hollywood industry without mentioning the hardworking peripatetic actors who moved around in caravans when acting was still in it's latency in the old America?

Where was Chika Okpala when Hubert Ogunde was entertaining the country. Na who dash monkey banana? Hubert Ogunde was already performing in the 1940s and Chika Okpala was actually born in 1950 grin It's a disrespect to the man's honor to disregard theatres and folk operas as the initial platforms of Nollywood.

Hubert Ogunde's plays include The Garden Of Eden, Worse Than Crime, Black Forest, The Tiger's Empire, Strike and Hunger, Bread and Bullet, Yorùbá Ronu, Ija Ominira, Africa and God, Israel In Egypt, Nebuchadnezzar's Reign, My Darling Fatima, Portmanteau Woman, Beggar's Love, Princess Jaja, Ajani Ogun, Aiye and many more . Hubert Ogunde wasn't the only Yorùbá man in the scene as his contemporaries include the likes of A. B David, P. A Dawodu, Layeni and G. T Onimole.

Also, let's not forget that Western Nigeria Television (WNTV) came into action during the 1960s and enabled Ogunde an avenue to reach his audience without traveling. He produced his plays : Ayanmo and Mama Eko for the television audience. How is it now possible to compare Ogunde whose plays were broadcasted on TV in the 1960s to one Chika Okpala who came later in the 1980s?

Notable Yorùbá directors back then include G. B Kuyinu, Ola Balogun, Duro Ladipo and so on. Ogunde is also to be credited for actresses being paid in the industry. He brought professionalism into the practice and enabled women become professionals in light of their own right. Notable actresses back then include Beatrice Oyede, Abike Taiwo, Idowu Phillips (Popularly known as Mama Rainbow) and so on.

At this point, I hope I've been able to clarify who the real pioneers of Nollywood are. Fast forward to 2017, we still have potopoto slaves claiming they actually "own" Nollywood. Let's go through the list of highest-grossing Nigerian films

1. The Wedding Party - 453 million naira - Produced by Mosunmola Abudu and Directed by Kemi Adetiba

2. A Trip To Jamaica - 178.5 million naira - Produced by Ayo Makun

3. 30 Days In Atlanta - 137.2 million naira - Produced by Ayo Makun

4. Fifty - 94 million naira - Produced by Mosunmola Abudu (EbonyLife TV) and Directed by Biyi Bandele

5. Half Of A Yellow Sun - 60 million naira - Directed by Biyi Bandele

6. October 1 - 60 million naira - Produced and Directed by Kunle Afolayan

7. The CEO - 60 million naira - Produced and Directed by Kunle Afolayan

8. 93 Days -50.5 million naira - Produced by Bolanle Austin Peters

9. The Return Of Jenifa - 35 million naira - Produced by Funke Akindele and Directed by Muhydeen S. Ayinde

10. The Figurine - 30 million naira - Produced and Directed by Kunle Afolayan

11. Weekend Getaway - 22.8 million naira - Directed by Desmond Oluwashola Elliot

12. Phone Swap - 20.7 million - Produced and Directed by Kunle Afolayan

13. The Visit - 14 million naira - Directed by Olufunke Fafoyin

14. Dazzling Mirage - 13 million naira - Produced and Directed by Tunde Kelani

15. Maami - 11.9 million naira - Produced and Directed by Tunde Kelani

16. In The Cupboard - 10.5 million naira - Produced and Directed by Desmond Oluwashola Elliot

17. Married But Living Single - 9.9 million naira - Directed by Tunde Olaoye

18. Out Of Luck - 9 million naira - Directed by Niki Akinmolayan

19.Gone Too Far - 8.5 million naira - A film by Bola Agbaje

20. Irapada - 5 million naira - Produced and Directed by Kunle Afolayan

Note : The domestic gross of the movies above were produced by wikipedia.org, at no point in the post did I attempt to tamper with the records nor round any number up. Also, it's important to understand that the figures above were not adjusted by inflation. Every domestic gross stated above is the same as the number value which gives a glib and superficial analysis. For example, Kunle Afolayan's Irapada which generated 5 million naira in 2006 would have generated folds if it were to be released in 2017.

We don't need to make noise with these people, they're nerdy white boys trying to get into a dick-measuring contest with a Mandingo grin

BRIEF HISTORY
Suru Group Ltd (“SGL” or the “Company”) was incorporated in November 2008 as a private limited company with focus on seven core areas of investment with very promising outlook. The management had earlier commenced trading in real estate which later became the real estate sector of Suru Group Ltd. The group had plans to invest massively in hospitability, real estate development, energy generation, agriculture, mining, manufacturing and financial services. The group had procured credit via its real estate arm and invested in real estate, hospitality and manufacturing. It had successfully developed and marketed luxury residential apartments in the upper neighborhood of Ikeja GRA, an upper class segment of the Lagos metropolitan. It still holds prime properties in this neighborhood for speculation and development.

In the hospitality sector, it has successfully brought to life a numbers of tastefully furnished three star hotels within the business segment of the Lagos State, Nigeria. The hotel has a strategic relationship with Best Western, an international hotel brand to trade with its brand name in West Africa. The hotels is trading as ‘’Best Western Hotel’’. The hotel is managed by African Sun, a South African company. The group has perfected plans to launch budget hotels pan Nigeria as part of its hospitality business. To this end, it has also launched budget hotels in Lagos, Nigeria; which is to serve as prototype for West Africa.

The Group is also the owner of 94 self services apartments in the city of London. The apartments cater for the growing short let accommodation needs of International visitors to the city of London.
Following the World credit crisis, the group has pruned down its investment drive and now wants to focus on real estate and hospitality. In the medium term, the group wants to develop further 5 Three Star Hotels under the Best Western Brand, 45 budget hotels under Suru Express Brand and build 900 units of low cost residential estate to support the Federal Government drive for affordable housing for all. It has acquired large expanse of land in Lagos state, Nigeria, a developing area (the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria) to build low cost housing.

Suru Group ultimate holding company is Haldane Mccall PLC , Listed on the German Stock Exchange. OUR COMPANY

He came to D.C. from Nigeria — and created his own African comic-book universe

So in the summer of 2015, he cashed out his 401(k), resigned from his job and founded YouNeek Studios, the company that would debut his first comic book, “E.X.O. The Legend of Wale Williams.”

Okupe recruited four artists in Nigeria to help him produce his first E.X.O. comic. Ayodele Elegba would edit his writing. Sunkanmi Akinboye would be his interior pages artist. Raphael Kazeem worked on coloring and Godwin Akpan did cover art. Not counting the two times a year he returns home to Nigeria, Okupe does all his communicating with his art team from his apartment in Rockville, Maryland. It was important for him to have a team that could capture the cultural essence of his homeland, as E.X.O.’s fictional city of Lagoon City takes inspiration from Lagos.

Laolu Senbanjo

Laolu was made famous from his collaboration with Beyonce however, it's his heritage and being born and raised in Ilorin, Nigeria to Yoruba Parents that made his Art what it is. Based in Brooklyn, NY since 2013 he's really strived to make his name in the NY Art scene. He’s a Visual Artist, Musician, Human Rights Lawyer and Activist. His motto is: “Everything is my Canvas” and takes it to heart. He puts his mark on everything from canvas, to shoes, to walls and buildings, to clothing and even the body with his Sacred Art of the Ori. There’s no separating Laolu from his Yoruba heritage, it is ever present in all his work. A strong advocate of holding onto your culture and spreading its glory he finds a way to marry his modern detail and ornate style with his Yoruba heritage by being one of the leaders in Afrofuturism Art. His preferred mediums are charcoal because it’s something as natural as life and death and he also likes to dabble in acrylics, inks and even wood. Laolu has worked with Beyonce on “Lemonade,” been featured in the NY Times, collborated with brands and people like: Equinox Fitness, Nike, Kenneth Cole, Alicia Keys, Taraji Henson, Jidenna, Angelique Kidjo, Black Coffee, Swizz Beatz, Danielle Brooks, Vice, Usher, Seun Kuti, Davido, Sound Sultan, Tony Allen just to name a few.

PoliticsRe: Akeredolu Mocks Lagos, Lures Investors To Ondo by okway: 11:09pm On Jul 18, 2017
omohayek:
It won't matter how skillful a PR drive Akeredolu mounts unless the fundamentals are there to draw investors in, but are they? What does Ondo offer that Lagos, Ogun and Oyo don't? Better power? Better broadband availability? Greater security? Cheaper access to highly-skilled staff? Greater ease of company registration? Less hassle getting land issues settled? Under Amosun, Ogun state has been steadily tackling many of these issues for several years now while Mimiko was doing very little, so I'm doubtful Akeredolu can have made up all of that lost ground, even before tackling the distance issues that give Ogun state an inherent advantage.

I actually support this initiative by Akeredolu, as I think stronger competition between all SW states to draw investment will be better for all of them in the long run, but the problem I see is that he hasn't laid the groundwork for this media drive to turn into meaningful investment growth. Business people with large sums on the line will do the necessary homework to see through any propaganda, and the net effect of not having the facts to backup the hype will only be to undermine Akeredolu's credibility.

In the longer term, I think the single biggest thing that will make the difference in drawing serious industrial investment to Ondo will be fast, reliable transport links with Ibadan and Lagos, in the form of both well-maintained interstate roads and high-frequency rail services. For this close co-operation will be required with other SW states, first to get these areas off the FG's exclusive list, and then to make concrete plans to realize the necessary links.

Fast-forward 5 years and Emmanuel Oyeleke may not be granting that many interviews but his photographs are speaking volumes on his behalf. His studio in central Lagos is constantly buzzing with celebrity stylists, supermodels and actresses who want that particular Emmanuel Oyeleke touch.
