Elvis died on Saturday, October 24 from a heart related illness and like every human being she had some dreams which she planned to achieve before her retirement from her chosen profession.

One of her unfulfilled dreams was to sleep with the popular Nigerian singer, Wizkid and international soccer star, Ronaldo. Jessica disclosed this in August, a few months before her death.
Elvis, who was an advocate for the rights of Nigerian prostitutes, also had the dream of opening a website for all prostitutes. This she disclosed on the day she became the president of the National Association of Nigerian Prostitutes (NANP) in August, 2015.
She had said: “I want to let people know that you don’t have to work in NNPC or Central Bank before you make it in life. As the new president of NANP, I will make sure our members are well taken care of. I will ensure all our offices across the 36 states of the federation start functioning. I will also make sure all registered members get ID card.
“As you can see, the world has gone global and we should also follow the trend; in this regard, we have proposed to launch a new website which will have the profile and contacts of all our registered members across the country. If anyone is in need of our service, all you need to do is to go online and make your choice,” Jessica enthused.
Before becoming the president of NANP in August Elvis was the longest serving secretary of the association. She served as secretary between 2002 and 2015. Elvis took over from the former president, Madam Efoyo.
Elvis is survived by her 15-year-old daughter.

A GRIEVING dog has been pictured lying at the exact place his owner lost her life in a hit and run accident.
The heart-wrenching snaps show Paco spread out and motionless on the road where Kelly Black, 42, was found dead on Friday.

Police in Jacksonville, Florida, were called to the scene when Kelly was found unresponsive in the middle of the street.
Witnesses saw a truck colliding with the woman in a convenience store car park before dragging her into the road.
Detectives believe it’s possible the driver was completely unaware of what had happened.
Kelly was walking Paco at the time of the tragedy, according to neighbours.
When residents spotted forlorn Paco lying in the street after the incident, local journalist Russell Colborn drove to the scene to take photographs – posting them on Twitter.
Kelly’s family came to collect Paco – a rescue dog from the aftermath of hurricane Katrina – following a call from the police.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Plateau Command, said it seized 824 kilogrammes of hard drugs in a recent raid on drug stores.
Its Commander, Ngozi Madubuike, who made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Jos on Sunday, also said the agency seized 1,510 bottles of cough syrup.

She said the drug stores raided were in Jos-Bukuru metropolis, adding that the NDLEA officers also confiscated psychotropic substances.
She explained that the syrup was seized because it contained codeine, noting that it was a controlled drug and was not meant to be sold over the counter.
“We have been able to raid some drug stores and chemists in Jos-Bukuru metropolis who are not supposed to sell such drugs over the counter because the drugs are controlled drugs.
“They are to be sold by qualified medical personnel, not just by any person because the drugs are controlled; the diversion of these drugs makes them accessible to those who abuse them.
“From our findings, such persons take the drugs as stimulants because of the codeine in it which is a narcotic drug used medically for the production of some cough syrup.”
She said that most youth who were into drugs buy the cough syrup not to treat cough “but to make them high and prepare them for nefarious activities.”
Ms. Madubuike revealed that the command had earlier seized 824.517 kilogrammes of cannabis, cocaine and psychotropic substances.
The commander explained that the office had been able to secure the conviction of 48 males between the ages of 17 to 56 years, who she said were serving various jail terms ranging from one month to three years.
According to her, the command’s rehabilitation centre rehabilitated and discharged 34 male clients from January 2015 till date.
He said that the centre currently had 26 clients who were being rehabilitated and appealed to parents to monitor their children and wards to ensure that they do not depend on drugs and do not peddle drugs.
The NDLEA official, who identified notorious drug flash points to include Farin-Gada, Gada-Biyu, Congo-Russia, Mangu and Bukuru, appealed to the public to co-operate with the Agency by disclosing salient information pertaining to drug trafficking and its usage.

Mental health experts have raised an alarm over increased cases of mental disorder in Nigeria and have called for adequate facilities and personnel to curb it.

Mental disorder, also called mental illness, psychological disorder, or psychiatric disorder, is mental or behavioural pattern that causes either suffering or poor ability to function in ordinary life.
The causes of mental disorder are often unclear but common causes include drug abuse, depression, dementia, schizophrenia, as well as stigma and discrimination.
The mental health experts who expressed their views in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria said about one in four Nigerians have one form of mental disorder or the other.
Professor Oye Guruje, a psychiatrist with University of Ibadan, said government should give priority attention to the management of mental disorder because its burden outweighed that of HIV.
He said “mental illness is one of the major contributors to disease burden globally; it is the sixth largest burden worldwide and this is much more burdensome than HIV.
“In Nigeria, one out of seven persons will have serious mental illnesses, while one in four persons will have some form of mental disorder; and this is a conservative estimate,” he said.
Mr. Guruje, who said that mental illnesses could be treated with the right care, noted that “every mental disorder has some form of treatment; but whether the person will fully recover depends on the type of illness.

The Nigeria Police Force are set to arraign five suspects over the October 2, 2015 twin bombings in Kuje and Nyanya areas of Abuja.

Speaking in his office at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, on Wednesday, the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, said “after careful and discreet investigations into the recent bombings that took place in some parts of Abuja, the Nigeria Police Force will on October 22, 2015 take the suspects to the Federal High Court, Abuja for prosecution”.
Force spokesperson, Olabisi Kolawole, quoted Mr. Arase as saying “the five suspects were arrested at Karamajiji Village, behind National Military Cemetery along Airport Road, Abuja and dangerous bombing tools which include I-pad, Laptop and Phone believed to be used as materials for making bombs were recovered”.
The Police chief reportedly said “the arrest of the suspects was made possible by the proactive nature of the newly formed Intelligence Response Team, also warned Nigerians to avoid the temptation of picking 1-pad, phones or laptops not kept by them, as terrorists now use these items in manufacturing bombs, knowing its attractions and needs to the people.”

The drug was found in a false bottom of his luggage while he was trying to check-in the luggage. The case is being investigated” Ahmadu stated. Ayoola who holds a Higher National Diploma in Estate Management at Osun State College of Technology in 2006 said that he made a mistake getting involved in drug trafficking. -

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is coming to India to host a Townhall Q&A at IIT-Delhi on October 28. Zuckerberg confirmed this news via a post on his Facebook page. Top female vocalist Seyi Shay has joined hands to support the ‘Slum 2 School’ charity project – an initiative put together to get less privileged children across Africa the proper education they desperately need. Seyi Shay and her charity organization, “Shay: A Ray of Hope” have invested a lot into this project, as she has always made helping the less privileged a top priority for herself.
Since its inception three years ago, the ‘Slum 2 School’ charity project has with the help of over 5000 volunteers from 25 countries, supported over 600 children to go to school and impacted over 3000 children through medical support and various psycho-social support programs.
This year, the Slum 2 School organization has set a goal to support over 1000 children living across slums and various remote communities in Africa A Charity Music Soiree was held at the Silverbird Galleria in Lagos last Sunday to raise funds for the children benefiting from this project. The Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Lagos State, Mr. Cyril Akhanameh yesterday, said 45 corps members, who absconded during their service year will repeat the service.

He said: “45 corps members will repeat their service year due to physical absence from their places of primary assignments.”
According to him, ”’Many of the corps members left their places of primary assignments for over three months without permission, adding that when queried, they could not give any genuine reason for being absent.”
“The level of their punishments, he noted, will be determined by the level of their offences, stating that many of them will repeat, serve for three or four months in any part of the states that NYSC Authorities will choose.”

It was learnt that two corpses were currently recovered from an 18 seater bus that recently plunged into a river around J4 at Ogbere Ijebu East local government area of Ogun state. In a statement issued by Daud Olatunji to vanguard which reads


ABEOKUTA—Two corpses were yesterday recovered when an-18-seater commercial bus plunged into Omo river, around J4 at Ogbere Ijebu East local government area of Ogun state.
A source at the scene of the crash stated that the Okitipupa bound passenger bus had taken off from Idumota in the Lagos Island where it was loaded with the goods.
Though the cause of the crash still remains unknown as at the time of filling this report, it was however, gathered that it took the combined efforts of personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC.
Policemen in the state and that of the National Emergency Management Authority, NEMA, before the vehicle could be removed from the Omo river.
The state commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Adetunji Adegoke and the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Muyiwa Adejobi who in separate interviews confirmed the incident.
Both of them, who said the commercial bus was a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number ONDO AKR 747XA also disclosed that it had carried only five passengers with goods.
The bus according to Adegoke and Adejobi was coming from Lagos and heading to Ondo town before the incident.
Adegoke however said the bus and all the five passengers who had died have been recovered.
According FRSC state chairman the passengers comprised three males and two females and had died before their bodies were recovered from the river.
The Police Public Relations said the bus had loaded some goods such household items with five passengers before it had the accident.
According to PPRO, the command had mobilized all its men such as Divisional Police Officer, Area Commander and had employed the service of local divers and the command Marines.

There can’t be many more pitiful, humiliating ways to potentially end your life than face down in an infamous Nevada brothel, vomiting uncontrollably from the overdose of herbal Viagra you took to keep up with myriad prostitutes during a 4-day binge.
As I write, Lamar Odom is clinging on. He’s in a coma, distraught family and friends at his bedside. But his dignity and reputation are already dead, shredded at the altar of reality television.

It would be inhuman not to feel a massive jolt of sympathy for this giant 6ft 10in champion sportsman as he faces his greatest challenge.

It’s not been an easy life for Lamar.

His mother died when he was 12, his father was a heroin addict, and he lost a six-month old child to sudden death syndrome.
But many others have survived similarly catastrophic blows and emerged stronger and better from the emotional wreckage.

They, though, didn’t marry a Kardashian.

I say this as someone who likes the Kardashians, especially Kim.

I can admire their work ethic and business acumen, whilst also acknowledging that their billion-dollar global family brand is built on an entirely false edifice of transitory, talentless fame.
I don’t blame them for this, I blame society for evolving into the very thing Andy Warhol warned us all would happen: everyone could be famous for 15 minutes.

The Kardashians have just survived and thrived longer than their peers because they’ve shown greater drive, determination, smarts and creativity.
And that, in its way, is a talent worthy of admiration.

But those sucked into their crazy world need to be very, very careful it doesn’t also suck them down in the process.
When Lamar Odom met Khloe Kardashian in 2009, he was an outstandingly good basketball player. I know, because I used to watch him at the LA Lakers performing wondrous feats with his great friend Kobe Bryant, helping them win back-to-back NBA championships in 2009 and 2010.


He was focused, intense, combative and brilliant. The consummate professional.
Then he fell in love with a Kardashian and his life became public property.
Lamar and Khloe wed on TV in ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ after a 30-day courtship. Even Lamar’s proposal, usually one of the most private, intimate moments of a couple’s life, was filmed on camera.
Within months, a new spin-off show was created: ‘Khloe & Lamar’.
At first, he loved every minute of his new found celebrity status, throwing himself into photo-shoots, premieres, interviews and parties with all the enthusiasm of Charlie Bucket entering Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory.
But then, after a while, he stopped loving it.
Filming was up to 18 hours a day, seven days a week, for months on end.
‘They want you to be at your wit’s end and tired,’ explained Khloe, ‘I think he (Lamar) thought we could send the cameras away whenever you want, but you can’t.’
No, you can’t. The tap of reality television, and I speak from some experience of this as a former contestant on Celebrity Apprentice, runs even faster when you’re desperate to turn it off.
Lamar, in a frantic attempt to protect his real career as a basketball player, persuaded the LA Lakers to allow the reality show’s cameras to the games and even into the inner sanctum of the dressing room.

It didn’t work. None of it worked.
Viewers watched Lamar grow increasingly stressed as the series progressed, and his game simultaneously deteriorated.

Eventually, in 2012, he was traded against his wishes to Dallas Mavericks.
From that moment, the spiral of self-disintegration continued apace.
He was arrested for DUI, he went to rehab amid rumours of drug abuse, a tape emerged of him apparently admitting infidelity, the couple split, then divorced, Khloe & Lamar was cancelled and his basketball career hit skid row.

Lamar himself seemed utterly bemused by what had happened to him.
‘I don’t do Twitter,’ he protested, ‘I don’t Instagram. I don’t believe in following people around. It just came with it. Me and that girl fell in love.’
Fine words, but utterly disingenuous.

Lamar pursued and embraced his reality TV fame with the kind of ravenous hunger he used to pursue victory and titles on the basketball court.
The problem though is that you have to lay yourself bare to it, warts (sometimes literally…) and all.
There’s no ability to control the beast. Your life is public property, your human qualities and frailities exposed to millions.
Everywhere you go, everyone knows everything about you.

It takes a very advanced degree of narcissism and the hide of a thousand rhinos to deal with that kind of scrutiny.
Lamar, unlike the family he married into, was too sensitive, too vulnerable.
Two months ago, in a dramatic exchange with TMZ, Lamar raged: ‘To everybody that supports me: I’m sorry but the dog has to fight back. Y’all won, y’all beat me down, degraded me, said.. I’m a womanizer, a f**ing drug addict, everything. I probably couldn’t even get f***ing hired by Home Depot right now because of how people look at me.’

If the ‘dog’ had fought back by cleaning himself up, getting match fit and going back to what he’s really good at, then he may have had a chance.
Instead, he’s lying unconscious and critically ill in a Vegas hospital.
Who’s to blame for this shocking descent?

Well, his estranged father Joe Odom has no doubts – it’s the Kardashians.
‘They haven’t been a very good influence on my son,’ he said recently, ‘It’s been the curse of his life. He hasn’t really accomplished anything since he’s been with them.’
Of course, there’s a heavy irony in this statement, coming from an appallingly selfish absentee junkie dad.
But it also contained a wider truth.
The sad, tragic truth about Lamar Odom is that he couldn’t keep up with the Kardashians. And he should never have tried.

The Nigerian army is really putting all effort to counter the issue of insurgence in Nigeria....
In a statement issued by Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman Acting Director Army Public Relations which reads:

This is to report that Nigerian troops are gradually clearing all known camps, enclaves and dens of Boko Haram terrorists especially in the north eastern part of our country.

It is as a result of the continued offensives against the terrorists by advancing troops that Boko Haram terrorists fled and abandoned their locations at Nafari and Gonin Kurmi.

In a haste, they left various food items and personal effects as they fled to Sambisa forest. As oft mentioned the noose is tightening around the terrorists.

Troops will continue the momentum until all terrorists and their camps are no more in any part of Nigerian territory.

Citizens are once again called upon to continue co-operating with security agencies through provision of timely and credible information about any known terrorists, their hideouts and collaborators.

24 year old Jessica Edionwele went missing on October 7th in Abuja. According to a family source, Jessica left Lagos at 4.00pm to meet her dad in Abuja. They were at the airport to pick her up but they never saw her. The airline confirmed she left Lagos at 4 and arrived at Abuja airport at 5.15pm. But no one has seen or heard from Jessica since then.
