The return to a back 3 is looking like a masterstroke as it negates defensive frailty of the team especially those of Rudiger as he is more composed playing as a LCB than a conventional CB. The only problem I can see is the inability of the forward players taking their chances and rapping up games early. For example Chelsea should have scored 2 to 3 goals in the first half with the good number of chances and excellent positions the team got into.

It will be interesting to see how guys like Chilwell, Ziyech, Havertz, and Abraham are utilized in this new system. Chilwell is looking fūcked though as Alonso is one of the best LWB in the world and Chilwell's spot in the England team for the Euros is in great danger from Shaw and James Justin (at Leicester).

If Pogba leaves, Rice will be a solid option for us. I am not sure the club will want to spend big on a striker next summer transfer window. Cavani looks like he could play effectively for another season and we have got 3 solid prospects in Greenwood, Joe Hugill and Charlie McNeil.

I suspect that the club will prioritize a starting CB, rotation RB, a Forward that can play Right, Left and AM and maybe a CM to replace Pogba.

You clearly don't understand what happened with Romero. Man is on 100K per week at United, during last summer transfer window Villa and another club wanted him. Romero was not ready to drop his wage demand to enable United get a suitable transfer fee and I guess this infuriated top management at United.

Over the years top management at United have been working actively on changing the previous norm of allowing players leave for peanuts or next to nothing. That is why the club utilizes the one year extension option on a lot of fringe players. Some years ago guys like Rojo and Fosu Mensah would have left for nothing, but the club got about 1.5M for Fosu Mensah and an undisclosed fee for Rojo.
