afrodoc: They have better squads. Remeber that Under-18 and Under-23 is not about titles but about player development, hence there is no 1st team. Hence whenever rotation takes place they maintain their quality while ours drops. In particular we have very few good defenders in our entire youth set up.
For the Under-23s in terms of attacking quality for instance our best players are about the same level as City's players but once you go past our best 2-3 players they have the edge. Also their players are a bit older and more seasoned than ours. Our Under-23 defense has been a joke.
For the Under-18s our players are about as good as theirs IMO. Our recruitment for this under-18 was really good. On point!! For about 2 years we have been recruiting top quality 16 and 17 years old from around Europe and the UK. |

Illimitable: Keep Pogba and Bruno and then sign Ndidi.
Against the bottom 12 clubs, use the inverted triangle in the midfield. Ndidi as the sole DM dovetailing Pogba and Bruno.
Against the top 8 clubs, United should use 2 DMs(one of McFred can partner Ndidi) for security. Ndidi is the best DM in the league by a distance.
Any serious club hoping to catch Man City should be signing him in the summer. He’s only 24, he’s nowhere near his peak yet and he does everything and more than McFred combined. Leicester do not have to sell and they will ask for at least £50M. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by olabode89(m): 4:23pm On May 04, 2021 |
Illimitable: This is also terrible business on their part.
United have the lowest amount of player sales in the top 6. If you go deeper, they are even worse than Everton and Southampton in the past 11 years.
Chelsea have made £707m in player sales, Liverpool made £552m but United could only boast of £291m sales in the past 11 years. Glazernomics is actually harming the club, not helping it.
However, through the United media machine that continues to lie to the fans, we overrate these parasites. All they do is dishing out contracts to players past their peak that nobody wants.
Explain to me why Jones hasn’t been sold. He’s barely kicked a ball in the last 3 years and the Glazers gave him a juicy contract for nothing. United are 8th in player sales. Shitty clubs like Southampton and Arsenal make more money selling players than United.
Are you sure the propaganda is BS or you have consented to Woodward pulling a thick wool over your eyes?
The mind boggles. From a business perspective the propaganda is BS. People need to understand that having debt as a business is not really bad provided there is no cash flow problem/shortage of cash for taking care of current liabilities and opex. The club traditionally do not recoup huge amounts from player sales because of out strategy of buying experienced players over 25, blooding academy prospects and taking a risk on wild card young players that are usually not up to par. This is unlike Chelsea that is operating a massive loan system that generates a good chunk of income from player sales. To me the only issue the Glazer had was not employing a proper football man to take care of player acquisition and contracts negotiation, and these have been corrected some months ago. |

Illimitable: Who is this football illiterate typing nonsense?
The Glazers have not spent a single penny on Man Utd. Man Utd was a debt free club in 2005 generating around £400m in revenue every season.
Man Utd was big enough to pay its overheads until the Glazers heaped a hefty debt on the club which has cost the club close to £2 billion. Imagine if that amount was spent on players instead of interests and repayments?
The Glazers don’t spend a dime on United, they take money from the club in dividends instead. This whole notion that the Glazers are some savior that rescued a dying club in 2005 needs to be put to bed. You are the only one propagating this notion... lmao! Yes, the Glazers took over the club using a leverage buyout that heaped a debt of about 600M pounds on the club, but they didn't break any law. The UK govt should have prevented the move but they failed to do so. Whatever you say about the Glazers with respect to their handling of the club do not forget that they implemented an aggressive commercial push that increased our revenue substantially. Although the yearly 25M dividend payment they receive is a bad look for them when compared to other owners. |

nitrogen: The timing no make sense at all. Meanwhile, for effectiveness, they need to sustain by protesting on a weekly basis, and try to get some of their British billionaires to buy the club. Otherwise, nothing will happen. Them Glazers are not listening to offers. They do not want to sell. |

afrodoc2: Olabode89 what is your assessment of our Academy/Reserve players? Who amongst them do you have high hopes for? I have been watching our academy guys quite regularly for about 2 years on MUTV and some guys just stand 0ut from the get go. I usually rate technique and quick thinking over physical attributes. Amy top 5 guys that I think might make it to the senior team are 1. Mengi 2. Elanga 3. McNeil 4. Forson 5. Laird This might be shocking to most guys but I am not so sure that Hannibal and Shoretire will make it at the senior team mainly because they are both play best as an AM (my opinion) and that position requires a lot that is game time, confidence and quickness dependent. Also Bruno has that position locked down for at least 5 more years. Laird and Elanga can actually stake claims to back up positions for the RB and LW positions by next season. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by olabode89(m): 2:11pm On May 01, 2021 |
afrodoc2: At the senior level that versatility will be limited. That you can play a position at the youth level does not mean you can play it at the senior level. At the senior level there won't be so many opportunities for a boat load of youth players to each try out different positions. The coaching staff will just focus on the most likely success stories and forget the rest.
Mejbri has actually played CM,AM, LM quite well while as you rightly said Shoretire has played AM, LM,RM. Hansen-Aaroen can play CM, AM. Iqbal has played CM as well though he obviously is more comfortable as an AM. Forson is another one with potential who is really just an AM. Forson has got this special touch and flow to his game. He turns 17 in July, so he is still quite young. I am very disappointed with Hogerwoof abi how them dey spell that him name again, he has this weird look to him, like he feels he is way better than he actually is. I hope he succeeds though, his mum is Nigerian |

You were leading 2-1 away from home, you returned in the 2nd half went all out leaving out spaces at the back in search of more goals, for United to explore and score. Who doesn't know that United like to feast on spaces using swift counter-attacks?.

Illimitable: That’s the only indicator you need to know that Ole is just vibes and insha Allah.
His tactical approach in nearly every game is wrong thus the disgusting first half. His saving grace is that he’s got good players he can rely on to turn things around.
I don’t know how any fan that truly loves this club can mock those that were disgusted with the first half performance.
Semifinal first leg - 2 goals conceded at half time? Why shouldn’t people be pissed at that horrendous display in the most important game of United’s season? You are way too intelligent for some of this gaffes. Ole didn't make tactical changes or bring on any player after half time and the team came back to blow away Roma. How come you praise the players for positive outcomes and berate Ole for negatives. Was it Ole that told Fred to not read the run of Mhki for the second goal or Shaw that allowed Dzeko to bully and get in front of him for that same goal. Was it Ole that told Pogba to raise his hands when trying to prevent a cross in the box ?? |
