Technology Market › Why Nigerian Businesses And Hospitals Need Better Software Systems by OlADIPU(op): 12:33pm On Aug 13
# Why Nigerian Businesses and Hospitals Need Better Software Systems

Technology is changing how businesses operate in Nigeria.

From hospitals and schools to supermarkets, professional firms and growing companies, organizations are increasingly using software to manage customers, employees, finances, inventory and daily operations.

However, having software is not the same thing as having a good software system.

Many organizations still operate with a combination of Excel spreadsheets, WhatsApp messages, paper records, separate accounting applications and manually maintained databases. This can work when an organization is small, but as the business grows, these disconnected processes can become expensive and difficult to manage.

## The Problem With Disconnected Systems

Imagine a hospital where patient registration is handled in one system, pharmacy records are maintained separately, laboratory results are stored somewhere else and billing is handled manually.

The problem is not necessarily that any individual system is bad.

The problem is that the systems do not communicate.

The same issue occurs in businesses.

A company may have:

* One system for accounting
* Another for inventory
* Excel spreadsheets for employees
* WhatsApp for customer communication
* Paper documents for approvals
* Separate tools for sales
* Manual processes for reporting

This creates duplicated work and makes it difficult for management to obtain an accurate picture of what is happening.

## What a Modern Business System Should Do

A properly designed business application should bring related processes together.

For example, an ERP system can connect:

**Sales → Inventory → Purchasing → Accounting → Reporting**

When a customer makes a purchase, inventory can be updated automatically and the corresponding financial transaction can be recorded.

Similarly, a hospital management system can connect:

**Patient Registration → Consultation → Laboratory → Pharmacy → Billing → Medical Records**

This reduces repetitive data entry and gives authorized staff access to the information they need.

## Healthcare Requires Even More Care

Hospital software is particularly challenging because the system deals with sensitive information.

A modern Hospital Management System may contain:

* Patient demographics
* Medical histories
* Diagnoses
* Prescriptions
* Laboratory results
* Billing information
* Staff records
* Appointment information
* Admission and discharge records

Security therefore cannot be treated as an afterthought.

A properly designed system should include authentication, role-based access control, audit trails, secure database practices, encrypted communication, backups and appropriate access restrictions.

A receptionist should not automatically have the same access as a doctor.

A pharmacist should not automatically have access to every administrative function.

Access should be based on the user's responsibilities.

## Why Custom Software Can Make Sense

There is no single software package that perfectly fits every organization.

A growing Nigerian business may have processes that are different from those of a company in another country.

For example, an organization may need specific workflows for:

* Local taxation
* Multiple branches
* Nigerian payment providers
* Local currencies
* Payroll
* Procurement
* Inventory
* Approval processes
* Industry-specific reporting

Custom software allows these requirements to be incorporated into the system instead of forcing the organization to completely change its business processes around generic software.

That does not mean every business needs completely custom software.

Sometimes an existing product is the best solution.

The important thing is to evaluate the actual business requirements before deciding.

## Software Should Solve Business Problems

One mistake organizations make is starting with technology instead of the problem.

Instead of asking:

> "Which programming language should we use?"

the better questions are:

* What problem are we trying to solve?
* Who will use the system?
* What information needs to be available?
* What processes are currently inefficient?
* What should be automated?
* What reports does management need?
* What security controls are required?
* How will the system scale as the organization grows?

The technology should support the business objective.

## The Importance of Local Software Expertise

Nigerian organizations increasingly need software that understands both modern technology and local business realities.

This is one reason companies such as **Ajir Diipo Limited** focus on enterprise applications, healthcare information systems, ERP solutions, web applications and digital transformation.

The objective should not simply be to produce another application.

The objective should be to build software that organizations can actually use in their daily operations.

## What Should Businesses Look For in a Software Development Company?

Before hiring a software developer or development company, businesses should look beyond the price.

Consider:

1. **Previous projects** — Can the developer demonstrate similar systems?

2. **Technical capability** — Does the team understand databases, security, APIs, cloud infrastructure and application architecture?

3. **Communication** — Can they explain technical issues in understandable language?

4. **Security** — How will sensitive business information be protected?

5. **Scalability** — Can the application grow with the organization?

6. **Maintenance** — What happens after the software is delivered?

7. **Documentation** — Will the organization receive proper technical and user documentation?

8. **Ownership** — Who owns the source code and data?

9. **Integration** — Can the system communicate with other applications?

10. **Support** — Is there a clear process for fixing problems and implementing future improvements?

## Nigeria Has an Opportunity

Nigeria has a large and growing technology ecosystem, but there is still enormous room for digital transformation across traditional industries.

Hospitals can improve how they manage patients.

Schools can improve administration.

Businesses can automate repetitive processes.

SMEs can gain better visibility into their finances and inventory.

Professional organizations can replace paper-based workflows with digital systems.

The opportunity is not simply to "put businesses online."

It is to build systems that make organizations more efficient, accountable and scalable.

## Final Thoughts

Good software should disappear into the workflow.

Users should not have to fight with complicated systems just to perform their jobs.

Whether an organization chooses an existing ERP, a Hospital Management System, or a custom-built application, the most important consideration is whether the technology actually solves the organization's problems.

For Nigerian businesses and healthcare organizations considering digital transformation, the best starting point is usually a clear assessment of existing processes, followed by a realistic technology strategy.

Technology is most valuable when it improves the way people work.

Adverts › Why Many Nigerian Businesses Make Sales But Still Struggle With Money by OlADIPU(op): 12:34pm On Aug 11
**Why Many Nigerian Businesses Make Sales But Still Struggle With Money**

I have noticed something that happens to many businesses, especially as they begin to grow.

A business can be making good sales every month, customers are coming in, stock is moving, the bank account is receiving money — yet the owner still feels like there is never enough money.

Sometimes the question becomes:

**"Where is all the money going?"**

This is not always because the business is not making money. In many cases, the problem is that the business owner does not have a clear picture of what is happening financially.

Here are some common situations.

**1. Sales are high, but customers are owing**

Imagine a business makes ₦10 million in sales.

That sounds good.

But what if ₦4 million of that is still sitting with customers who bought on credit?

The business has made the sale, but it does not have the cash.

If the owner is looking only at sales, the business may appear healthier than it actually is.

This is why tracking accounts receivable is important.

You need to know:

* Who owes you?
* How much?
* How long have they owed you?
* What have they already paid?
* Which debts are becoming overdue?

**2. Too much money is tied up in stock**

This is particularly common with retailers and distributors.

A business owner may think:

> "My shop is full. Business is good."

But having ₦5 million or ₦20 million worth of goods sitting in the warehouse does not mean you have ₦5 million or ₦20 million available to spend.

Money has been converted into inventory.

Some products may sell quickly.

Others may remain on the shelf for months.

Without proper inventory records, it becomes difficult to know exactly how much money is tied up in stock and which products are actually contributing to the business.

**3. The business owes suppliers**

The opposite problem can also happen.

A business may have plenty of stock because suppliers have given goods on credit.

The owner sees the shelves full and sales increasing.

But there may be significant amounts owed to suppliers.

So the business may look profitable from one angle while having serious payment obligations from another.

This is why accounts payable is just as important as accounts receivable.

**4. Business expenses are not properly tracked**

Small expenses are easy to ignore.

Transport.

Fuel.

Data.

Repairs.

Bank charges.

Staff expenses.

Office supplies.

Delivery.

Maintenance.

Entertainment.

Petty cash.

One expense may not look significant, but hundreds of transactions over several months can become a substantial amount.

If these expenses are not properly recorded, the owner may underestimate the actual cost of running the business.

**5. Personal money and business money become mixed**

This is another major problem.

A business owner receives money from customers and uses part of it to pay school fees, household expenses, personal purchases or other things.

Then the owner puts some personal money back into the business when cash is short.

After a while, it becomes difficult to determine:

* How much belongs to the business?
* How much did the owner withdraw?
* How much did the owner invest?
* What is the actual profit?

Separating business and personal finances makes accounting much clearer.

**6. The bank balance is mistaken for profit**

This is probably one of the biggest misconceptions.

If there is ₦3 million in the business bank account, that doesn't automatically mean the business made ₦3 million profit.

The money could include:

* Customer deposits
* Loans
* Money owed to suppliers
* Capital introduced by the owner
* Unpaid expenses
* Tax obligations
* Money that needs to be used to purchase more stock

Profit and cash are related, but they are not the same thing.

**7. Nobody knows the real numbers until the accountant prepares everything**

This is common in businesses that have grown beyond simple record keeping.

The owner wants to know:

> "How much profit did we make last month?"

Then someone has to gather Excel files, invoices, receipts, bank statements, stock records and other information before producing an answer.

By the time the report is ready, the information may already be several weeks old.

A business owner should ideally be able to get a reasonably clear picture of the business without spending days putting the numbers together.

**8. Different parts of the business use different records**

This is where things become even more complicated.

Imagine a growing distributor using:

* WhatsApp for customer orders
* Excel for inventory
* a POS for sales
* another application for payroll
* notebooks for expenses
* bank statements for payments
* an accountant's spreadsheet for financial reporting

Every individual tool may work.

But the business as a whole becomes difficult to manage because the information is scattered.

Sales may say one thing.

Inventory may say another.

The bank may show something different.

The accounting records then have to be reconciled manually.

This is one reason businesses eventually start looking at integrated accounting and ERP systems.

**So what is the solution?**

There is no single solution for every business.

A very small business may be perfectly comfortable with a notebook or spreadsheet.

As the business grows, however, it becomes increasingly important to have proper systems for:

* Accounting
* Sales
* Purchases
* Customers
* Suppliers
* Inventory
* Invoicing
* Receivables
* Payables
* Expenses
* Bank reconciliation
* Financial reporting

And eventually, depending on the business, things like:

* Payroll
* HR
* CRM
* Manufacturing
* Fixed assets
* Budgeting
* Multiple branches
* Multiple companies
* Multi-currency transactions

This is where accounting software can evolve into a broader ERP/business management system.

**Where does AjirBook come in?**

This is actually one of the reasons I have been following the development of **AjirBook**, a Nigerian accounting and ERP platform.

The idea is not simply to provide another place to record income and expenses.

AjirBook is being developed to connect accounting with other parts of a growing business — including sales, purchasing, inventory, customers, suppliers, reporting, HR/payroll and other business operations.

The idea is simple:

**Instead of having different records scattered across different systems, bring the important parts of the business into one connected platform.**

It is designed with different types of growing businesses in mind, including retailers, distributors, professional/service businesses, hospitals, schools and other SMEs.

You can see what they are building here:

**https://ajirbook.com**

I'm particularly interested in hearing from Nigerian business owners on this.

**How do you currently keep track of your business finances?**

Do you use:

1. Notebook/paper
2. Excel
3. POS software
4. Accounting software
5. An ERP
6. An accountant who handles everything
7. A combination of several of these?

And perhaps the more important question:

**If I asked you right now how much your business actually made last month, how long would it take you to get an accurate answer?**

Business › Re: Best 10 Accounting Software For Small Businesses In Nigeria 2023 by OlADIPU: 12:19pm On Aug 11
This was a useful list for 2023. But three years is quite a long time in software, especially accounting and business-management software.

For a small Nigerian business choosing accounting software in 2026, I think the requirements have also changed.

It is no longer enough to ask whether software can record income and expenses. A growing business may need the accounting system to connect with the actual operations of the business:

• Invoicing and payments
• Accounts receivable and payable
• Inventory and stock management
• Purchases and suppliers
• Sales and quotations
• Bank reconciliation
• Customer management
• Financial reporting
• Multiple users and permissions
• Payroll and HR
• Multiple branches or companies
• Multi-currency transactions

For example, a small distributor may need inventory, purchasing, sales and accounting to work together. A professional service company may need clients, invoices, expenses and accounting. A hospital or school may have completely different operational requirements.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qamIw5fCzs?si=AFM5_uC7YbRfKw3n

This is why I think the conversation has gradually moved from simply asking for the "best accounting software" to asking which **accounting/ERP system fits the particular business**.

There are also newer Nigerian platforms entering this space. AjirBook (https://ajirbook.com), for example, is being developed as an accounting and ERP platform for growing businesses, combining accounting with areas such as sales, purchasing, inventory, customers, suppliers, reporting and other business operations.

I wouldn't claim that one software is automatically the best for every business. The better approach is to compare the actual requirements of your business and choose a system that can handle them now and still grow with you.

It would be interesting to see this list updated for 2026 and include some of the newer Nigerian accounting/ERP solutions that weren't around when this was originally published.
Business › Re: The 5 Top Accounting & Inventory Management Softwares In Nigeria by OlADIPU: 12:16pm On Aug 11
This list was useful when it was published in 2020, but the accounting and inventory software market has changed quite a bit since then.

One thing I think businesses should consider today is whether their accounting system and inventory system actually work together.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qamIw5fCzs?si=AFM5_uC7YbRfKw3n

For a retailer or distributor, for example, it is not enough to know how much money came into the business. You also need to know:

* What stock is currently available?
* What has been sold?
* What has been purchased?
* Which suppliers are owed?
* Which customers are owing?
* What is the cost of the goods sold?
* Which products are moving quickly or slowly?
* What is the actual gross profit?
* What happens when stock and accounting figures don't agree?

This is where newer ERP-style systems are becoming useful because accounting, sales, purchasing and inventory can be managed as connected parts of the same business rather than separate spreadsheets or applications.

One Nigerian platform worth looking at is AjirBook (https://ajirbook.com). It combines accounting with sales, purchasing, inventory, customers, suppliers, reporting and other business-management functions.

I wouldn't say there is one "best" accounting software for every Nigerian business. A small shop, distributor, professional service company, hospital and school can have very different requirements.

For someone choosing software today, I'd recommend comparing the actual business workflow and asking whether the system can grow with the business.

The 2020 list is a good historical reference, but it would be interesting to see an updated 2026 comparison including newer Nigerian accounting and ERP platforms.

Nairaland General › Re: 5 Best Accounting & Inventory Management Softwares In Nigeria by OlADIPU: 12:13pm On Aug 11
The list was useful, especially for 2020, but quite a lot has changed in the Nigerian accounting software space since this was posted.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qamIw5fCzs?si=AFM5_uC7YbRfKw3n

Today, I think businesses should look beyond just "accounting software" and ask whether the system can actually handle the different parts of the business together.

For example, a growing distributor may need:

* Accounting and general ledger
* Invoicing and receipts
* Accounts receivable and payable
* Inventory and stock management
* Purchasing and suppliers
* Sales orders and quotations
* Bank reconciliation
* Customer management
* Multi-user access and permissions
* Payroll and HR
* Financial reporting
* Multiple branches/companies
* Multi-currency support

A hospital or school can have a completely different operational workflow from a retail business, but they still need reliable accounting and financial reporting.

This is why the move from standalone accounting packages to integrated ERP/business management systems is becoming increasingly important.

One Nigerian platform I've recently come across is **AjirBook** (https://ajirbook.com). It is being developed as an accounting + ERP system rather than just a bookkeeping application, with accounting, sales, purchases, inventory, CRM, HR/payroll, reporting and other business modules integrated into one platform.

I think it is worth adding newer Nigerian solutions like this to the conversation, especially when discussing what is available to businesses in 2026 rather than only the options that were popular several years ago.

For anyone comparing accounting/ERP systems today, I would recommend looking at the actual workflow of your business first rather than simply choosing the most popular name.

For example:

**Retail/distribution:** inventory + purchasing + sales + accounting

**Professional services:** invoicing + expenses + clients + accounting

**Hospital/school:** operational records + billing + accounting + reporting

The best software is ultimately the one that fits the business rather than simply the one with the biggest name.

Business › The Accounting Problems Many Nigerian Businesses Face :and How Ajirbook Can Help by OlADIPU(op): 12:06pm On Aug 11
# The Accounting Problems Many Nigerian Businesses Face — And How AjirBook.com Technology Can Help

Running a business in Nigeria is already challenging enough.

You have customers to deal with, suppliers to pay, staff to manage, stock to monitor, taxes to consider, bank transactions to reconcile, and countless other things that require your attention.

Yet one area that many businesses continue to struggle with is **accounting and financial record keeping**.

This is not limited to small shops. Retailers, distributors, professional service businesses, hospitals, schools, contractors and growing companies can all experience the same problems as their transactions become more numerous.

The problem is often not that business owners do not care about their accounts.

The problem is that **the business grows faster than the system being used to manage it.**

## 1. Mixing personal and business money

This is one of the most common problems.

A business owner may receive customer payments into a personal account, pay suppliers from another account, use cash for expenses and occasionally transfer money between accounts.

After some months, it becomes difficult to answer simple questions:

* How much money did the business actually make?
* How much is currently owed to suppliers?
* How much do customers owe the business?
* How much was spent on expenses?
* How much cash should the business have?
* Is the business actually profitable?

Having money in the bank is not the same thing as making a profit.

Proper accounting records help separate these things.

## 2. Relying too heavily on Excel and notebooks

Excel is an excellent tool.

For a very small business with a limited number of transactions, a spreadsheet may be enough.

But as the business grows, spreadsheets can become difficult to control.

A business may have separate spreadsheets for:

* Sales
* Purchases
* Expenses
* Inventory
* Customers
* Suppliers
* Staff
* Bank transactions

The danger is that these records may not remain synchronized.

Someone changes a figure in one spreadsheet but forgets another.

A formula gets deleted.

A file is overwritten.

Someone cannot find the latest version.

Eventually, the owner spends more time trying to determine which figure is correct.

## 3. Not knowing the true profit

Revenue is not profit.

A business can have ₦10 million in sales and still have serious cash-flow problems.

Consider a distributor that sells ₦10 million worth of goods but has:

* ₦6 million cost of goods
* ₦1 million salaries
* ₦500,000 rent
* ₦300,000 transportation
* ₦200,000 utilities
* ₦250,000 other expenses

Without proper records, the owner may simply see ₦10 million entering the business and assume everything is going well.

Proper accounting should make it possible to understand revenue, costs, expenses, receivables, payables and ultimately profitability.

## 4. Customers owing money

Credit sales are common in many Nigerian businesses.

A retailer, distributor, school, hospital or professional service business may provide goods or services today and receive payment later.

The problem begins when there is no reliable system for tracking those debts.

You may hear:

> "I will pay next week."

Then next week becomes next month.

Without proper accounts, it can become surprisingly difficult to know exactly:

* Who owes the business?
* How much do they owe?
* When was the invoice issued?
* How much have they already paid?
* Which customers have overdue balances?

Accounts receivable management is therefore not just an accounting issue.

It is a **cash-flow issue**.

## 5. Suppliers are also easy to lose track of

The same problem exists on the other side.

A growing business may purchase from several suppliers.

There may be invoices, partial payments, credit purchases, returns and outstanding balances.

Without proper records, management can struggle to determine exactly what the business owes each supplier.

This can create unnecessary disputes and make cash-flow planning difficult.

## 6. Inventory and accounting don't always agree

This is especially important for retailers and distributors.

Imagine a business that has hundreds or thousands of products.

Stock comes in.

Stock goes out.

Some items are returned.

Some are damaged.

Some are sold on credit.

Some may be transferred between locations.

If inventory records and accounting records are maintained separately, management can end up with two different versions of the business.

The stock system says one thing.

The accounts say another.

A good business management system should bring these areas together.

## 7. Bank reconciliation is often neglected

A bank statement tells you what happened in the bank account.

Your accounting records tell you what the business believes happened.

Those two records should be reconciled.

However, many businesses do not perform bank reconciliation regularly.

This can leave unidentified:

* Bank charges
* Transfers
* Direct debits
* Customer payments
* Failed transactions
* Duplicate entries
* Other discrepancies

Regular reconciliation helps management know whether the accounting records actually agree with the bank.

## 8. Businesses outgrow their accounting system

This is probably the biggest issue.

A business might start with:

**Notebook → Excel → multiple spreadsheets → accounting software → ERP**

There is nothing wrong with starting simply.

The problem occurs when the business has clearly outgrown its method of record keeping but continues using it because changing systems seems difficult.

By that stage, the company may have accumulated years of fragmented records.

Moving to a proper system earlier can make growth much easier to manage.

## What should a Nigerian business do?

The answer isn't necessarily to buy the most expensive software available.

The important thing is to have a system that matches the complexity of the business.

At minimum, a growing business should be able to properly manage:

* Sales
* Purchases
* Customers
* Suppliers
* Expenses
* Invoices
* Payments
* Receivables
* Payables
* Inventory where applicable
* Bank accounts
* Financial reports
* User access and permissions

As the business grows, it may also need payroll, HR, CRM, manufacturing, fixed assets, budgeting, multiple companies, multiple currencies and integrations.

This is where ERP software can become useful.

## Where does AjirBook fit?

This is one of the reasons we have been building **AjirBook**.

AjirBook is an accounting and ERP platform designed to help businesses manage their operations and financial records in one system.

The idea is straightforward:

Instead of having one spreadsheet for sales, another for expenses, another for inventory and another for customers, the different parts of the business can work together within one system.

AjirBook is designed for growing businesses, including general SMEs, retailers and distributors, professional/service businesses, hospitals and schools.

The platform brings areas such as accounting, invoicing, purchases, sales, inventory, customers, suppliers, payroll, HR, reporting and other business operations into one environment.

The goal isn't simply to replace a notebook or spreadsheet.

The goal is to give a growing business better visibility into **what is happening financially and operationally.**

You can learn more about AjirBook at **https://ajirbook.com**.

## Technology does not replace good accounting

There is an important point here.

Accounting software does not automatically make a business financially healthy.

You still need good financial discipline.

You need proper processes.

You need accurate data.

You need people who understand the business.

And depending on the circumstances, you may still need a qualified accountant or tax professional.

Software is a tool.

But the right tool can make it much easier to maintain accurate records, identify problems and make better decisions.

## The question every growing business should ask

If you run a business, ask yourself:

**"If I needed to know the exact financial position of my business today, how long would it take me to find out?"**

If the answer is:

> "I need to check several notebooks."

or

> "Let me open the Excel files."

or

> "My accountant will have to calculate it."

then your business may have outgrown its current accounting process.

That doesn't mean you are doing something wrong.

It may simply mean that the business has grown enough to require a better system.

And that is a good problem to have.

**AjirBook** is being built to help Nigerian and other growing businesses make that transition from fragmented record keeping to a more connected accounting and business management system.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qamIw5fCzs?si=AFM5_uC7YbRfKw3n

Despite the difficulties associated with implementing an EHR in Africa, Ajir Company created AjirMed, the greatest EHR or EMR software for the continent, to automate distinct hospital processes and reduce the amount of large tree-cutting that is necessary for paper records. AjirMed is aware of the willingness of African hospitals to transition to paperless records, despite obstacles in their way. By offering quick, simple, low-power consumption devices that are simple to use even for non-technical hospital staff, AjirMed EHR eases the burden on African hospitals.

Talk to a coworker who use an EMR right now. Find out which electronic medical records they now use and what their experiences have been with various EMRs. Why did they discard the program they had been using? Ask them to call you on behalf of the EMR vendor representative that they are actively employing to oversee daily operations.

You can also ask for assistance through the WhatsApp group of your association. And if you locate them online or are thinking about one of the seven electronic medical records we covered in the best 7 electronic medical records EMR for Nigerian hospitals in 2023, have a look at the company's stance, options, and values to see if they coincide. After thoroughly analyzing these providers' responses, their turnaround times. You will be aware of what is possible and comprehend your requirements in connection to what is available by thoroughly assessing the responses of these vendors, their response times, and the solution offers. A demo or free trial is your chance to scrutinize each of the software products you are shortlisting inside out, check if the software has a solution to your business problem, and get answers to any questions you may have. You may need up to one week to test the capabilities of a software, depending on if you have time and if the software vendor is willing. Rather, take one or two demos at a time and plan specific workflows to test them out. Also, encourage your staff to provide feedback to get an accurate view of EMR operations. During each demo, decide who should attend and ensure they are available to examine the software. You need to get a better picture of how much help each of the EMRs can provide your hospital. How they compare to one another. We advise you to prepare in advance for each demo and write out a list of criteria or questions about your peculiar situation prior to a demo or free trial, which you can score against. This will help you not to forget what is best for your facility and how the software compares to one another. Based on these, you should have your pick and know whether or not to move forward with the buying process. Think about the problems you want to solve in your facility and the features that are critical. One way you can know the software will not fail is to test its features, benefits, and usability. If you are answerable to a boss, you now have some analysis to present your choice to the final decision maker.

As the director of a facility, you are familiar with the hospital's condition, the difficulties you face daily, and what your customers want. If you have already deployed an electronic medical record, you know its failures and shortcomings. For example, you may need software that will guide your nurses and remind them of drug administration instructions at every opportunity for the correct care of your patients. Your HMO manager finds it hard to reconcile the treatment of your HMO patient with their bills or claims because the records are scattered or irreconcilable. Or you want automation that includes all patients, including HMOs. Or you are a busy MD that would need e-prescription and access to patient treatment histories when you are away on impromptu meetings. You want to continue the treatment from anywhere when you are alerted with laboratory results where you are.
It is important you figure out the problem; it will guide you in choosing the features that are essential for your daily operations before considering features that are not critical but are an enhancement to your hospital, and lastly, functionalities that are not needed but will be nice if they exist. You don’t want to be confused as you speak with highly persuasive electronic medical record company representatives
