I applied for a B1/B2 renewal via drop box on March 13th and have not heard back from the consulate to pick up my passport even though this is the 2nd time I am renewing my US Visa. I then sent an email and got a response that my application is under administrative processing and I was asked to confirm my dropbox location.

After I confirmed the location, I got an email stating that "Your application is still being processed; sometimes some applications take longer than anticipated. You will be notified once it is ready for pick up. Please confirm if A0******3 is your current passport number with which you submitted your application."

It was after I got this email that I realized that I made a mistake. What had happened was that the A0******3 passport number is my new passport # ( I submitted 2 passports because my old one which had 2 months left of visa was expiring). The mistake I made was that I paid my visa fees and filled out the application with my old passport # but also submitted the new passport for which I wanted my visa to be issued on.

Question: What should I do in this case? Do you think I would be called for an interview to verify or how can I rectify the mistake I made.

Something to note is that- My mum's current visa expires on the 16th may 2015 and old Passport expires September 2015- to that effect, she went to get a new Nigerian passport. It is with that new passport that she has applied to renew her visa(she included both passports in her drop box application)

My case - My mother applied to review her B1/B2 via drop box on March 13th, as of Monday the 23rd her status showed:
Case Creation Date:18-Mar-2015
Status Updated Date: 19-Mar-2015
Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing

As of today March 25th, her case is now showing:
Case Creation Date:18-Mar-2015
Status Updated Date: 25-Mar-2015
Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing

We are a little worried because when my dad applied to renew via drop box last year, his got an alert in 2days to pick up his visa. My mother has been to the U.S about 4 times and have never overstayed her visa. This is her second renewal of visa.

What should we do and thank you in advace for your response.- I can provide you with the case ID# if you want me to.

  My cousin just told me his passport has not been given to him yet. After the interview at the U.S embassy for a visiting visa to America last week thursday, he was given a green ticket to go pick up his passport in Ikeja and given that Monday was a national holiday, he went to the office on Tuesday (2 business after his interview as he was told by the interviewing officer) but his passport was not ready. He has since been checking online and the status he's gotten is The current status of your passport is Origination Scan. When he calls the collection center up until today, they told him his passport is still not ready.
Has anyone had an experience like this before? Also, I want to confirm that he has been issued the visa and its just the processing that takes time if not i guess he wouldn't be given a green ticket and/or he would have been told he was denied after the interview.

Great Nairalanders please help, he's been having sleepless nights regarding this situation!

My cousin was issued a 2 year multiple B1/B2 visa to visit America and the visa expires in December 2012. The question is, when he applies for a renewal of the visa , do the U.S embassy grant a 10year visa or a 2year visa?

Yay, she got approved for the visa. A point of advice for all who are applying for a visiting visa to the U.S: when she went for her interview (1) They did not ask her to show any document that she brought with her (2) They wanted to verify she knew what was filled out on the application form by asking her a few questions about some personal information (3) The wanted straight forward answers from her. Lastly whatever you do, please DO NOT sound despirate NOR volunteer information to them, its a DONT ASK, DONT TELL kidna situation. Good luck guys and let me know if you have futher questions ,

My brother is a U.S green card holder and his wife is an american citizen. They have both invited my mother who retired this year to come visit them in the U.S for christmas holiday. The issues is, although my mum is retired, she works part time at a hospital to keep busy. Should she disclose this to the interviewer during the interview?, My brother and his wife will be paying for her ticket and eerything eles. They have already sent their bank statements and other relevant documents. Do you think she'll be granted the visa as well?
