No, however, if you installed an official custom rom for your device it is possible. But if you are rooted with no custom recovery installed on your device, you can unroot temporarily and update. Rooting it back won't be as complicated as when you first did because this time, you don't have to go over the process of unlocking your device bootloader. You only need to install your custom recovery and flashed whatever root app (file) you used to get root.

One can argue that smartphones have improved a lot over the years and the need for rooting a smartphone has reduced significantly, although this is true to a certain extent, rooting is still very much valid in 2022 and I am going to tell you why.

Except you're using a device like the Google Pixel, One plus, Motorola, Nokia, Asus, Sony Xperia and some other brands that offer stock or near-stock Android experience, many of the smartphones today are loaded with bloatware. If you're a Xiaomi phone user, you would understand what I mean. While Xiaomi is not the only culprit here, the major players in Africa are also part of the scheme loading their smartphones with bloatware.

You can't talk about bloatware and not mention the Transsion holding brands that include Tecno, Infinix and Itel. This device comes with unnecessary bloatware that cannot be uninstalled completely from the device. While you can pretend as if the app is not there since you do not use any of the apps (bloatware), you have the option to disable the apps from the app property settings, however, the apps only disappear from your app drawer but are still on your device taking space.

Aside from the issue of bloatware, Xiaomi and many other big brands display ads on their devices. While some ads are not intrusive, you can get frustrated by ads on some devices like Tecno, Infinix and Itel. All this contribute to a terrible Android experience for the users.

Also, you have the issue of some manufacturers not providing upgrades for their devices. This particularly is one of the major problems with the major players in Africa. If you buy an Infinix, Tecno or Itel device today, the chances that you'll ever get another major OS upgrade on that device is almost zero. However, once in a while these companies chose to provide OS upgrades to only a few of their best selling or flagship devices and they only provide just one major OS upgrade even though the official Android standards state that devices should get at least 3 OS versions update after release.

To deal with all these issues, you need to root on your device. Rooting your device will allow you to uninstall bloatware completely from your device and deal with ads properly. With a rooted device, you can install bloatware free OS (GSIs) on your device or custom roms if your device has official custom ROM support. You can also install a custom recovery like TWRP on your device and easily flash sound and performance tweaks on your device to get the best out of it.

However, before you can root your device, the first and most important thing to do is to unlock the bootloader of your device. Bootloader unlocking server as the gateway into the "rootingverse" and can be done in a variety of ways depending on the device. After unlocking the bootloader of your device, there is usually a message displayed on your device screen called a verified boot state warning.

Bootloader unlocks always trigger the orange state warning Android devices and some users dislike this message and want to get rid of it. Luckily for you, there is a simple guide on how to disable the orange state warning on Androids boot screen. Once you have an unlocked bootloader, rooting and flashing image files becomes a lot easier.

A few days ago, Google announced the latest iteration of its Android OS - Android 12. The new OS introduced a whole new design - a new material language Google calls Material You, privacy feature, performance and a lot more.

After announcing the latest Android 12 OS, Google, of course, released the first public beta of the OS which everyone expected. The Android 12 beta is available for a wide range of devices including the latest device from Tecno Mobile - the Camon 17.

While Pixel device can easily Opt-in for the beta build and download via OTA update, other supported devices will have to visit their respective developer preview website to download the beta build and get instructions on how to install Android 12.

If you own a Tecno Camon 17 device and want to install the latest Android 12 beta on your device, simply follow the guide below.

How to install Android 12 beta

1. First off, download Android 12 beta for Tecno Camon 17
2. The download file contains the device drivers, flashing tool and the firmware file
3. After downloading the file, install the driver
4. Now, launch SWD loader.exe in the folder
5. On the SWD tool, click on the start button that looks like the Play button
6. Power off your device and connect it via USB
7. The download process will start immediately
8. Don't interrupt the process, let the download complete
9. Once the download is complete, you'll get a success message pop-up
10. Disconnect your device and power it on

That's it, you've successfully installed the latest Android 12 OS on your Tecno Camon 17 device.

The recommended tools for flashing Tecno Pouvoir 4 firmware/flash file are SWD-Aftersales flash tool and sp flash tool. If the two flash two are unable to flash the device which only would occur if the device issue is more complicated, then you may want to use advanced tools like Miracle Box, CM2 and others.

7. Select the ROM img file and select the system partition in which you want to install the ROM on the next screen.
8. The installation process will begin, so sit back while it installs.
9. Once installation is complete, don’t reboot just yet
Now go to TWRP restore option and restore the Modded Vendor you extracted earlier.
Once this is complete, now reboot.

Without TWRP (no root)

1. Download Descendant Android 9.0 Pie Custom rom for Tecno Camon 11 CF7 and the Vendor patch.
2. Copy the downloaded ROM to your adb and fastboot folder
3. Now, perform a factory reset either from your device settings or using your stock recovery if not rooted.
4. Boot your device into fastboot mode
5. In fastboot mode, enter the following command; fastboot erase system
6. Then flash the ROM using the command fastboot flash system name_of_system.img.
7. Once installation is complete, don’t reboot, also restore the vendor file as explained in the first method.

That's it, you've successfuly booted Android Pie on Tecno Camon 11
