DMainMan: Advice
Endeavour to apply to these scholarships if you are unemployed or underemployed especially 2.1 or first class students who mostly meet the requirement. It is quite beneficial as almost all are full scholarships. You will be paid handsomely by the government monthly, given free accommodation in the best of places, free flight, security and many more.
I am sure most of you want US, UK or Canada Scholarships which isn't easy to get. Do not waste your time. This is an opportunity to explore and give back to your guardians and parents who has been there for you. Even professional footballers are now going to these Asia countries to make more money so why cant you leave your comfort zone.
I am worried because many unemployed youths are ignoring these scholarships waiting for jobs that are not available instead of adding skills and knowledge. In the last India Postgraduate scholarship, the available slot for Nigeria was not filled as only 18 people attended interview. My friend was so happy as his scholarship is guaranteed. Hope Nigeria slots wont be reduced next year. Dmainman pls keep up this good work. The India scholarship interview that ur friend attended, is it for this year, whose application closed January 15, 2016. Or for last year? As I have a friend who applied for this year scholarship, he submitted all the necessary docs but yet to be invited for the interview. |

Career › Re: Pro Bankers In The House, Kindly Provide Me An Answer To This Puzzle! by olasquare22: 9:28pm On Oct 11, 2015 |
There is no standard product for this. It is however do-able. It can be a modified Bank Guaranty (BG). But u still must have a balance that could cover the contact value with bank if it would be undertaken. |
Career › Re: Pro Bankers In The House, Kindly Provide Me An Answer To This Puzzle! by olasquare22: 7:21pm On Oct 11, 2015 |
Cultured: Thank you very much. Meanwhile, may I know, in a country like ours where level of trust is so minimal, assuming I still want to carry on with my wish to be the one to issue a guaranty instrument to my associate without need of giving him money upfront to execute a job for me, what bank instrument can best suit my purpose in place of L.C citing the fact that L.C is majorly used in international trade. Thank you in advance for your professional input and time. Advance Payment Guaranty (APG) is d appropriate instrument. This is issued by the bank. It is a requisite instrument to be provided by the contractor. Pls do note that the bank that issues this guaranty receives the payment from contract employer while it in turn releases to the contractor in tranches. I will reiterate that the contractor is in position to get APG for u, authenticity of which could be confirmed. |

Career › Re: Pro Bankers In The House, Kindly Provide Me An Answer To This Puzzle! by olasquare22: 6:49pm On Oct 11, 2015 |
L.C is not appropriate here. The contractor should be the party to approach the Bank for APG, Custom Bond, etc. This will give u, d contract employer d comfort to make advance payment to the contractor, that contractor will perform to expectations. U need to know that payment is made in tranches base on percentage of work completion and that the Bank will perform intermediation role in this arrangement for a fee, usually 1% of contract value (It is negotiable) to be borne by the contractor. U are not d party to approach the bank for such because u are the contract employer.
Note that Letter of Credit (L.C) is usually for international trade between importer and exporter... |

EDhims: I have been scheduled for an aptitude test on 7th Oct by 10am @ Apapa, same day with my masters degree qualifying exams which commences at 8am-12noon in unilag. I don't even know anywhere in Lagos for me to determine d proximity. What should I do? U can write the two. Go for ur master's entrance exam, afterward, proceed to Apapa (Dragnet @Shippers' Council Tower). I know u will wonder how that could be possible considering the time the test is scheduled to hold? Believe you me, you would be allowed to write the test any time of the day since it is CBT. I go there everyday(just adjacent to my office) and see candidates for the same aptitude test who do come late. just make sure u go the same day. |

Concerning tips on lecturing applications, I need to let u know that there is no best way of doing this, it all depend on ur qualifications- grade and experience. Pursue additional academic qualification (not really professional qualifications, as it is just an add-on). Make sure u finish with good grades like 2.1 or 1st class in ur first degree and PhD grade at MSc level. Ensure u start ur PhD as soon as possible to demonstrate undisputable interest in academics, do publications (u can collaborate with ur colleagues. With 15k u can do one). By His grace, u will get to d promise land. |

simplygrace: Good morning, please I will need clarity on a few issues because I want to be sure of what am doing wrong. 1. When submitting these multiple applications and cv, are we to attach our credentials to each of the applications? 2.Please ooo I have applied in quite a number of these higher institutions and I have only been called for interview once in a place I applied online. All my other applications sent via post, I have not heard anything about. Is there something wrong? Please I want great minds to help me with Tips on these lecturing application process because lecturing is what I want to do and what I have been waiting for, but am getting kind of discouraged. Thanks It's great getting to know that u have a flair for lecturing. It all depend on what the prospective employer requests for. If credentials were clearly stated to be attached, then u are to attach all ur credentials to each application and CV, making the same number with the applications and CVs. Though, being obsessed about the cost involved can not be jettisoned, u just have to make d sacrifice as u will someday laugh. Sending applications via post works very well. I have got interview invitations from different universities whose applications were done through d couriers. I wish u d very best in ur pursuits. |

@OP, I categorically go against your claim of not being a dullard. If u are not up to the task, why did you go for the MSc program? This is an integrity issue in the academia. I know a banker that ran a full time MSc program, wrote his thesis and graduated with his set with a PhD grade. Truly, plagiarism is no more the prevailing threat to academic integrity, the new and bigger threat is this issue of ghost writer. It is high time we stood against this practice in the academia. |

U are just on point. Even the outcomes of the interviews from the two schools are yet to be communicated.
