Many of us who were born in the eighties grew up knowing him. I was born in the eighties when Buhari was Head of State and I watched his journey from then through his return to politics in the early 2000s up until he eventually became President. Now to hear that he is no more feels surreal because in many ways Buhari was a constant presence throughout my life. I remember seeing him drive his golden colored Mercedes Benz 190 back in the day around Zobe Road and Jabi Road in Kaduna not far from his house. And now to hear that this man is gone forever, it's a strange feeling. May Allah have mercy on his soul. |
As a nation, this is the least we can do to honour a man who gave so much of himself. Rest on, Mr. President. May your sacrifices never be forgotten and your soul find eternal peace. |

This is actually true for almost every territory. The endgame is to deny you a visa if you’ve ever criticized US foreign policy, especially regarding the actions of the State of Israel. This looks like what a dying empire does, not “democracy.” |

Dark day for the football world. Losing Diogo Jota, his brother, and our own legend Peter Rufai on the same day is beyond heartbreaking. May their souls rest in perfect peace. Football mourns today. |

EXCLUSIVE: Tinubu to reinstate Fubara — but with a condition he won’t seek re-election President Bola Tinubu has agreed to reinstate Siminalayi Fubara as the governor of Rivers state — but with the condition that he will not seek reelection in 2027, TheCable can report. The truce was reached during a closed-door meeting on Thursday night at the Presidential Villa, where Tinubu hosted Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT); Fubara; Martin Amaewhule, the suspended speaker of the Rivers assembly; and a handful of lawmakers. Presidency sources say the deal, part of a broader effort to restore democratic order in Rivers, involves significant concessions. According to insiders, one of the key terms is that @SimFubaraKSC will be reinstated to complete his four-year tenure but must forgo any plans to seek a second term in 2027 — a move that will limit his clout but to which he agreed. A source said, as part of the conditions, Wike would be allowed to nominate all the local government chairpersons across the 23 LGAs of the state. thecable.ng/exclusive-in-t… |
So Wike is now saying we have agreed to work with the governor after meeting with President Tinubu, but let us be honest, what he really wants is to keep controlling Rivers State even though his time as governor is over. What exactly is in the Rivers State Government House that he cannot let go of? He ruled for 8 years, it is time to allow the new governor lead in peace. This is not about teamwork, it is about holding on to power by force. Nigerian politicians need to take life easy, you will not live forever, and all the money and positions will not follow you to the grave. Use your time to build, not fight. Let the people breathe. Let the system work. |

12 innocent travellers murdered in Mangu, Plateau State. Over 200 people slaughtered in Benue. And sadly, that’s just a fraction of the ongoing bloodshed across the country. But what are our politicians doing? Instead of showing concern or taking decisive action, they’re busy scheming and strategizing for 2027, campaigning without conscience while citizens are buried in silence. |

NewsletterThe Nation Youths attack ABU Zaria bus carrying 31 passengers, kill 8, injure 19 others in Plateau By News Desk June 21, 2025 Tinubu tiamin rice tiamin rice … As LG chair says the passengers were mistaken for bandits By Fatima Muhammad Tanko — At least eight people have been confirmed dead and 19 others injured، following an attack on Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria bus carrying 31 passengers in Manjul community of Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. Hide quoted text DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that the incident took place Friday evening when the travellers, who were going for a marriage ceremony in Qua’anpan Local Government Area, miss their way at Kyarang junction and were asking for directions. tiamin rice Narrating their ordeal, one of the survivors, Ibrahim Umar, stated that they were deliberately targeted after asking for directions. He said: “We were coming from Zaria and heading to Qua’anpan Local Government Area for a friend’s wedding. He teaches at a school in Qua. Our driver missed the road at Kyarang junction. “At around 6pm, we stopped in a community to ask for directions. Some of them said, ‘These are Hausa people, let’s kill them.’ “They surrounded the bus and began attacking us with sticks, machetes, and stones. They beat us severely. Eight people died on the spot, and four others are still missing. “They first killed the driver and then set the bus on fire, burning seven of the bodies. “There were 31 of us on board. The bus belongs to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Nineteen of us are now receiving treatment at the Mangu General Hospital,” Mr Umar said. Confirming the incident, the Mangu Local Government Council chairman, Emmanuel Bala, said the attack was mistakenly carried out. He said: “Due to the earlier incident where people were attacked, members of the Manjul community had received report that bandits might strike again. The youths were therefore on the alert. Unfortunately, some travellers heading to Quan’pan mistakenly took the road to Mangu and were attacked by a mob. “The travellers were 31 in a bus. I personally visited the scene. Eight people were confirmed dead, and the deceased and injured were taken to the General Hospital in Mangu. “Security personnel are investigating the incident. “It is unfortunate that innocent people—Hausa Muslims—were attacked and killed,” Mr Bala lamented. https://dailynigerian.com/youths-attack-abu-zaria-bus-carrying-31-passengers-kill-8-injure-19-others-in-plateau/#google_vignette |

Major move by Dangote. If managed well and without sabotage, it could help reduce fuel costs and ease some of the pressure Nigerians are facing. Let’s hope this translates to real relief at the pump for ordinary people, not just profit for middlemen. |
To be honest, this whole thing with the IGP summoning the Kano Governor’s spokesperson again is starting to look suspicious. Why is it always one sided? Nobody is telling us exactly what he did or giving us his own side of the story. No clear details, no evidence, just the same police version again. And what happened to the court order that said they should stop harassing him? No one is saying anything about that. This doesn’t look like justice anymore. It’s beginning to feel like political intimidation. Nigerians deserve better. The law should be fair to everyone, not just those in power. |

TimeManager:With all due respect, what you said sounds more like an excuse than the truth. Real reforms are meant to make life better for people, not harder. You say things were bad before, but now things are even worse for ordinary Nigerians. Food is expensive, transport costs are high, insecurity has increased, and many people can’t meet their basic needs. You talk about removing subsidies like it was the only solution, but the government is still spending money, just in a way that doesn't help the poor. If reforms don’t improve the lives of the people, then they’ve failed. Also, blaming people for caring about what they eat is unfair. People are not selfish, they are simply struggling to survive. The truth is, the suffering is too much, and many leaders are not feeling the same pain. If states are getting more money but the citizens are still poor, then where is the progress? This is not about being negative, it’s about facing reality. Nigerians are not asking for too much. They just want a country that works for everyone, not just a few. |
TimeManager:This comment honestly sounds like an attempt to gaslight Nigerians. Back then, people complained during the subsidy era because things were genuinely bad, fuel scarcity, poor healthcare, bad roads, ASUU strikes, and all. Now that the subsidy is gone and things have actually gotten worse for the average Nigerian, you’re blaming people for having short memories? You talk about FAAC allocations and infrastructural projects, but what has really changed for the common man? Prices are through the roof, transport is unbearable, electricity is still unreliable, and people are struggling to survive daily. If more money is being spent, then where is the impact? Blaming everything on banditry and a poorly privatized power sector is just lazy. This government knew it wanted to remove subsidy but did zero planning to cushion the effect. Now people are suffering and you're selling hope like it's enough to fill a pot. Saying the economy is “tough but promising” means nothing to someone who can’t afford food or pay for transport. Nigerians are not asking for miracles, just honest leadership and policies that make life better, not worse. |

Instead of silencing lawmakers like Senator Ndume, who are voicing legitimate concerns, the presidency should focus on governing the country with integrity, transparency, and accountability. Leadership isn’t about suppressing criticism, it’s about rising above it and delivering results. It’s deeply ironic that the same presidency which couldn’t tolerate criticism now that they are in power was once relentless in attacking the Goodluck Jonathan administration when they were in the opposition. Back then, they enjoyed the freedom to speak, protest, and even spread propaganda unchecked. But now, any dissent or honest opinion is labeled as “reckless.” What happened to freedom of expression? |
