Finally, try and learn practical installation. It makes u know what u are doing.
With a good m&e design knowledge, ur coren and sound practical u can bid for mini jobs/contracts.

Look up those who are experts in installing electrical wires on buildings and offer to lend a helping hand, free of charge, so you can gain the knowledge and experience.

There's so much money to be earned if you are skilled in it.

Don't wait till .... but start now.

Olatheo. I won't sugar coat words for you. So sad you're passing through hard times just like many Nigerian Young graduates like us... It is okay to feel depressed but not for too long. Just don't give up and try not to fail yourself regardless. I hope you see the light at the end of the tunnel and one your better days, you will remember days like thing and sigh

Reading your post, Olatheo actually made me sad and angry.

A 2.1 Elect engr that knows what s/he is doing should not be depressed and most importantly lack the capacity to provide for his or her basic needs.

I studied Chem Engr and I can tell you with full confidence that not only is Elect engr the best engineering(has numerous and well sought-after career path)worldwide, it's also the only engineering in the whole of Nigeria that incorporates a whole lot of practicals to her 5years coursework.

What I'm trying to say is, not only should a 2.1 elect engr graduate be theoretically sound, the graduate should also possess at least 45/50% practical skills needed to fit in/adapt to any career path you choose.

Now, I think your problem is and like most 9ja graduate is short-sightedness(lack of vision and foresight) and good networking skills and mentorship.

My advice;
Go back to your drawing board/reflect on your past, and how you can improve your present and most importantly have a working/realistic plans on how you can achieve your goals(the future you want for yourself).

Well, let me cut you some slack.

You finished nysc last year and this is jan 2021 so I advice you don't fall into depression cause average Nigerians like us, we don't have the luxury to get what we want on a platter of gold, so it's understandable that we may not get job we want instantly but knowing what you want and at least 70% of the things to do to get what you want and putting in, intentional efforts to achieve what you want has no other outcome than to yield Success!!

I mean no harm, so take no offense in my comment, I'll be concluding my nysc next month and due to my vision and foresight, I have put things in motion that will aid me to achieve what I want for myself and I even have a plan B( learning a skill outside engineering that I can use to freelance on upwork).


Brother, I conclude by saying, worst-case scenario Nigeria doesn't work for you. Brush up yourself, write GRE, TOEFL, IELTS and co and apply for Msc or direct PhD to further your education abroad(The USA is not short of funding for courses like Elect and Che engineering).

To go further faster in life and be marvelously help, we need God and mentorship cause Wealth is 75% information and 25% action.

Also, note that "An investment in knowledge pays the best interest" so kill that depression in you asap.

visit some families in your church or anywhere. Tell them you can be a private lesson. Am sure you will be very good in maths and physics. From there you can be getting something. If you're lucky. They might be taking care of meals at least during the lesson time.

Then very important. Attach yourself to a practicing Electrical Engineers and learn the actual works on site even if he pays you nothing. Always pray to God. He made a way for me even when everyone think i should give up on Education. God help you bro

My brother you're more better than those that didn't further the way you do but they till have something doing for more income to come but you, you have what it take to get you a job or business to do!

I think you should move out and find something you can do with your hands to fetch you some money. If you have a laptop learn how to flash phones and attach yourself to someone's shop that sells phone accessories. Balance the shop owner monthly.

I am a medical professional but the above strategy made me good money before I got internship.

Those in construction can understand better. It's called MEP(mechanical electrical plumbing) design in construction

Immediately you drop the I graduated with 2:1 and start looking for anything reasonable like teaching to start with, you may not get what you want.

Look at other things you can do even if small, you may locate your helper from there.

I studied ee too but tried looking for anything to put food on the table since I was not getting the job I need as an ee graduate.

70% of those that studied a course do not practice it, so u can take that to the bank.
