HealthPanic As COVID-19 Patient Who Returned From Cotonou Slumps And Dies In Abeokuta by ollyjoseph(op): 3:08am On May 09, 2020
A suspected COVID-19 patient died on Tuesday in a vehicle conveying him to an isolation centre in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

His death caused panic among the residents.

The patient was reportedly dropped opposite one of the entrances to a leading commercial bank.

The suspected patient, identified simply as Alex, a Beninoise, resided in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

He was reportedly accompanied by his friend who was seen clutching his remains, seeking help, in a video that trended on social media yesterday.

Alex’s friend claims in the video that the deceased took ill when he returned recently from Cotonou, Republic of Benin.

He said he and Alex were Beninoise residing in Ijebu-Ode, adding that an officer, perhaps referring to a security operative, was conveying them from Sagamu to Owode Idiroko, a border town in Ogun State, when his friend died in the car.

The friend of the deceased said the officer hurriedly dumped him and his deceased friend beside the road.

The development caused not a small concern in Abeokuta as residents of the area were worried for their safety, fearing that people could begin to contract this viral disease if the state government fails to move in to disinfect the area.

Governor Dapo Abiodun through his Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Emmanuel Ojo, advised Abeokuta residents to be calm.

Christianity EtcPastor TB Joshua Prophesying The Current Global Crisis & Pandemics In 2013 by ollyjoseph(op): 2:22am On Apr 23, 2020
A video of Prophet T.B Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, predicting the current global economic crisis caused by the novel Coronavirus pandemic, has emerged on social media.

“Whatever your country has discovered in terms of mineral resources and it has been a source of income, causing corruption, fighting and people living flamboyant and all that. Those things nobody will buy them. The price of oil will drop drastically,” he said in 2013.

Joshua predicted the crisis on December 28, 2008, three years later, October 16, 2011, and on December 29, 2013. In all the prophecies, the cleric sounded it clear that countries will be broke.

He said that the only solution was for countries and individuals to return to the farm, warning that no one will have the money to buy oil again.

The cleric said God has allowed this because He wants to humble individuals and nations to bring them to their knees.

On Sunday, December 28, 2008, he said, “There will be economic crisis, you are to cut your coat according to your size. (sic) Those of you that have plenty, if there’s any way you can leave moderately because the only way you can be saved is if your treasure is in the hand of God.

“There will be economic crisis, it’s coming and it will be everywhere. You will be forced to humble. There will be economic war because there’s not enough money to fight wars.

“There will be economic crisis. Countries that rely on mineral sources like oil should quickly look beyond oil. I’m just telling you a longtime prophecy not immediate. You can begin to prepare yourself now. Pray for the whole world.”

Three years later, on Sunday, October 16, 2011, Prophet T.B Joshua spoke further on the economic crisis that was to come, according to him, “I say to you, there will be an economic crisis. The war the whole world will face now is economic war.

“You’ll see every nation, every country will come out going on the streets protesting. And you have not seen anything. Write it down. Everyone will be humbled.

“Those who rely on oil and other mineral resources should look beyond because there’ll be no money to buy oil. There’s something God wants to achieve concerning this.

“God wants to achieve humility to the core. He wants everybody to be on their knees. He wants every nation to be on their knees and after that, the solution will come. That is what God wants to achieve.

“Whatever you have now, cut your coat according to your size. If you have too much, people will attack you physically and collect it. The time is coming and it has come.”

And two years later, on Sunday, December 29, 2013, he added, “People will be broke. Countries will be broke. Single persons can be richer than a country.

“Your oil, you will drink them.

“Whatever your country has discovered in terms of mineral resources and it has been a source of income causing corruption, fighting and people living flamboyant and all that. Those things nobody will buy them again. The price will drop drastically.

“So I want to say to you, we have to return to the farm. Fishing, cattle rearing. This is where we are coming from and we are to return back there.”

Meanwhile, the United States oil futures turned negative for the first time in history on Monday with traders dumping May contracts, according to Al Jazeera.

Analysts have warned that crude storage will fill to the brim by next month, and US shale firms weigh the real possibility of shutting down production.

Following the ugly development, President Donald Trump said yesterday that his administration will look at a proposal to block Saudi Arabian oil shipments to the US to help buoy the US shale oil industry against an unprecedented rout that threatens its survival.

“Well, I’ll look at it,” Trump told reporters at his Coronavirus daily news conference.

Just last night, a former Nigerian lawmaker, Shehu Sani, tweeted that the “Falling oil prices will affect Nigeria’s ability and capacity to implement its 2020 budget,” adding that “infrastructural projects, foreign debt servicing, international obligations and even the aspects of importation of defense hardwares necessary for the anti-terror war will be directly affected.”

PoliticsLagos Residents Lament Over Poor Items Distributed By Lagos Government by ollyjoseph(op): 9:23am On Apr 22, 2020
Residents of Lagos, the epicenter of the Coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria, have expressed disappointment at the quality of items distributed as palliatives meant to cushion the effect of the sit-at-home directive by government.

To cushion the impact of the lockdown, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos announced that the state would provide financial support to 250,000 residents in the state as well as feed 100,000 vulnerable persons.

But despite that promise, residents have said they have not seen anything impressive from the government.

Findings revealed that in the Oworonshoki area of the state, residents expressed anger in the way and manner they had been treated especially going by the poor quality of items distributed as palliatives.

Problem started when Chairman of the local government, Babatunde Sofola, showed up in the area with a caterer armed with two banners, canopy, a public address system and one small container of cooked rice.

Residents were asked to file out to receive the food provided by the state government.

But upon arriving at the particular spot of distribution, residents were disappointed to see only a small container of Jollof rice for the entire community.

"Initially, a lot of people were on the queue thinking it was well-packaged foodstuffs but were surprised when they started distributing concoction rice with a small piece of fish," said Toluwani Jamiu, a resident of the area.

Shortly afterward, angry residents disrupted the distribution exercise, forcing the caterer and local government chairman to take to their heels.

"We cannot be treated as refugees. We are not slaves, the food they brought made it seem like we were in a refugee camp, how can that work out?

"The government is not helping, they cooked concoction rice that is not relevant to us.

"We cannot be treated as refugees, it is an insult to our dignity," another visibly enraged resident identified as Austin

On Sunday, residents of Agboyi-Ketu Local Government Area chased away a government contractor, who brought one bag of rice for the entire community while residents earlier saw other bags of rice being moved into the house of the All Progressives Congress party chairman in the area.

In Agbado, under Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area, 3kg rice, 3kg beans and 3kg garri were distributed among over 300 households.

Commissioner for Agriculture in Lagos, Gbolahan Lawal, said that government would work with existing database of the state to reach targeted beneficiaries.

Yahaya Bello, Executive Governor of Kogi state has disclosed his administration has launched an app to detect  Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the state.

Quote

“So far, so good, we have launched an app. Nobody showed any sign or any cause for any test. We wouldn’t go out and begin to catch human being and say we want to test anybody.

“There is enough and adequate sensitization of our citizens. So far, we don’t have any test centre but there is in FCT and we have test kits in the event that we have any need for us to collect any sample

“If no one comes out with any issue or any reported case, what are we going to collect to send to any of these test centres?

“Our sensitization is working very well.”

Noting the close proximity of Kogi to FCT which has the second-highest number of COVID-19 cases in Nigeria, Channels Journalist asked Gov Bello if Kogi state borders would be closed as a precautionary measure to curb the spread of the virus.

“Issue of shutting down, we have technically shut down and enlightened our people. By technically shutting down, we are not locked up.
