This is wrong on so many levels.

First the idea that they pay in instalments for the phone is wrong, they pay for data and voice bundles as well as the phone, in Nigeria Glo does it too with their iPhone sales.

Now in America you can work for one month on minimum wage and afford a phone but in Nigeria one year of minimum wage can't afford the same phone.

You are talking about 40 thousand naira phones and comparing it with 400 thousand naira phones that Nigerians buy used after 3 years.

so those Nigerians buying iphone 12 and Samsung, are buying it at 40k

and take note, I said larger percentage of them .

then one year minimum wage , is not everyone in nigeria that is on minimum wage but you have a point.

but one thing is still certain, those continent host the manufacturing company of those phone brand, and it is definitely cheaper buying over there than here.

and when you think of exchange rate and african weak currency, reason while most phones are expensive in africa than other region.

I think that's even the reason they could beat samsung and Xiaomi to it (in africa) , because TECNO MOBILE phones are cheap and also cheap to fix , unlike those other brand that you will use times two of what you buy the phone initially to fix just the broken screen.

if you are going to dominate any market in this era, you must study the locality of the region, the buying power of the market, how Large the market is and also the peculiarities of the market so as to give the people within the region the best and what specifically suit them.
