CrimeBoko Haram Sets Conditions To Free 83 More Chibok Girls by Oluola89(op): 8:02am On Oct 16, 2016
As negotiations for the expected next phase of the release of 83 Chibok girls begins this week, there were indications, last night, that the leadership of the Boko Haram sect might table two major conditions to be met by the Federal Government to seal the deal.
A source close to the negotiations confided in Sunday Vanguard that unlike the 21 girls, who were freed by the sect, last Thursday, to test government’s level of commitment and sincerity, the release of the remaining girls may be based strictly on ransom payment and freedom for no fewer than 16 of Boko Haram commanders by the government.
The government, it was learnt, was eager to get the remaining 83 girls, reportedly held by a top leader of the sect in an undisclosed location in the North East.
Of the 219 girls still missing, a source said that only 104 were left in the captivity of the sect while the rest had long been married off by top commanders and converted to Islam.
“The truth is that those Chibok girls are now Boko Haram members, having married the sect members and become radicalised,” the source said.
“The remaining 83 girls are with a top leader of Boko Haram and those are the only ones we are going to work for their release in the next phase of our negotiations which starts immediately.
“ The others had since become Boko Haram members, having been married off and radicalised into Boko Haram as soon as they were captured over two years ago”.
But Sunday Vanguard learnt that the representatives of the sect, who are meeting with a Federal Government team, might insist on payment upfront of huge cash by government before freeing the captives.
“I think the guys are settled on the idea that the cash must come ahead of the release since they had proved to government that they are reliable by releasing the 21 girls, last week, without many conditions attached”, the source stated.
Asked if the sect leaders were unsure of government’s sincerity to keep its own side of the bargain, the source said that the representatives of Boko Haram had also shown that they have confidence in government.
It was learnt that the lingering challenge in getting back all the girls arose from the fact that while some of them are with a faction loyal to Benawhi, the rest are being kept by the group loyal to Abubakar Shekau.
But one of the negotiators believed the remaining 83 girls would be freed if a meaningful deal is struck between the sect and the Federal Government.
Threats
Meanwhile, the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) has said that threats posed by terrorism and violent extremism in parts of Nigeria have not only stretched law enforcement agencies but have also exposed the gap in the nation’s capacity to deal with asymmetric warfare.”
Coordinator of the National Counter-Terrorism Center (CTC) in ONSA, Commodore Yem Musa, who stated this in at a one-day ‘Strategic Communication Analytical Technique Exercise’ in Abuja, said that violent extremist groups were more adapted to using strategic communication than government.
“Through this exercise, we will explore how strategic communication must be a first order capability in the armed forces, law enforcement and intelligence agencies as well as strategic MDAs of government”, Musa said.
Musa explained that the nature of asymmetric warfare and the liberalization of information access through the social media has made it imperative for any state actor serious about its national security to develop efficient and effective use of Strategic Communication.
He noted that the threat from terrorists, insurgent groups and other non-state actors in the country, has called for enhanced capacity and holistic measures to deal with the emerging security challenges.
The CTC boss however, expressed regret that whereas the non-state actors in the country have perfected effective use of the social media, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to deadly effect, the government is still playing a catch-up role.
He said: “The increasing discourse on strategic communication among stakeholders in Nigeria can be linked to the growing body of research on, and practice of counter-terrorism laws, policies and strategy. This, too, is as a result of a new kind of threat hitherto unknown to us.
Musa informed stakeholders at the exercise that “strategic communication is a crucial and relevant tool for counter terrorism and counter insurgency and permeates all governance structures and enhance national security and well-being”.
At the end of the exercise, participants agreed on the need to develop a common lexicon on strategic communication across MDAs in Nigeria.
Remaining captives must be free – UN Secretary General
In a related development, United Nations Secretary General, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, yesterday, commended the efforts of the Federal Government that paid off with the release of the 21 Chibok girls on Thursday.
A statement from the UN Secretariat in New York stated that the Secretary-General also called on the international community to assist Nigeria in securing the release of the remaining girls from Boko Haram’s grip.
The statement read: “The Secretary-General welcomes the reported release of 21 Chibok schoolgirls, following more than two years of captivity.
“He remains deeply concerned about the safety and well-being of the remaining schoolgirls and other victims of abduction by Boko Haram, who are still in captivity.
“The Secretary-General urges the international community to continue supporting the government of Nigeria in its efforts to secure their release, rehabilitation and reintegration.
“He calls for increased efforts to ensure additional humanitarian access in the north-east of Nigeria, and reiterates the continued commitment of the United Nations in this regard.
“The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for West Africa and the Sahel, in his capacity as High Representative for Nigeria, continues to engage with the Nigerian authorities and international partners on this matter.”

Facebook has abruptly
ended many loving
relationships. This is not
only restricted to singles
but also married people.
There have been reports of
how Facebook has
wrecked relationships due
to the ease at which users
meet new friends and
reconnect with their exes.
Hence, partners have to be
conscious and careful
with the way they use
social media. Here are
some rules you can
religiously follow to
prevent getting into
trouble while using
Facebook. Be careful
when changing your
relationship status The
relationship status on
Facebook includes single,
married, In a relationship,
and complicated. So, you
have to be careful in
choosing your relationship
status. If you are dating,
your partner expects you
to change your
relationship status. In this
case, if you don’t, he may
suspect that you have
ulterior motives for not
changing the status. Also,
do not be in a hurry to
change your relationship
status if you have a fight.
It is better to select a
status that corresponds to
your relationship status.
Don’t take your arguments
public When couples or
lovers ‘fight’, some take it
to Facebook. They
exchange nasty public
messages which may be
triggered by one of the
partners who puts up
posts supposedly referring
to the other. You may feel
hurt due to whatever he/
she did, it doesn’t mean
you should take it online.
Facebook will only
exacerbate the arguments
leading to an undesirable
break up. Don’t befriend
your ex The easiest way to
connect with your ex is on
Facebook. If you do, you
may put yourself in a very
uncomfortable situation
with your present lover.
Even if you still have
feelings for him, it is
better not to accept his
friend’s request and stay
away. Accepting his
request can mean trouble
as he will have complete
access to your profile as
well as your phone
number. This is when he
begins to beep every day
which may lead your guy
to begin to suspect you.
Tag only people you know
in your pictures There is
no gainsaying that women
like pictures. They post
different pictures on
Facebook including the
one they aren’t meant to

selfies with their ex. If by
any chance your partner
sees the photo while
browsing through your

lead to a dispute. You will
not be helped if he is a
jealous type. Don’t be

appear to be online but
that does not necessarily
mean that you will reply
chat messages. Your
partner will be wondering
what you are doing online

PoliticsUS To Return $350m Stolen By Nigerian Generals by Oluola89(op): 10:08pm On May 15, 2016
The United States
government has reassured
the President Muhammadu
Buhari-led Federal
Government that it would
return at least $350m of
stolen money from
Nigeria.
US Secretary of State,
John Kerry, made this
pledge during the Anti-
corruption Summit Plenary
at Lancaster House
London, United Kingdom.
He said, “This money
goes somewhere, folks.
When I read that tens of
billions of dollars were
stolen from President
(Muhammadu) Buhari’s
country by generals and
put into other nations,
some of it in our country
– and we are now working
to restore $350 million
back, and there’s more to
be restored to the people.
“And every one of those
million dollars that comes
back to a country is the
opportunity to provide a
desk and a chair and
school and shelter and
health care and meet the
needs of nations. That is
why we organise
ourselves in the world
around rule of law and in
an effort to try to provide
for our citizens,”
According to him, criminal
activity is a destroyer of
nation-states because it
contributes to drug
trafficking and arms
smuggling.

CrimeBreaking News! US Prisons Not Rehabilitative, Boost Crime Rate (Photos) by Oluola89(op): 9:38pm On May 15, 2016
The US prison industry is
partially responsible for
the rise of murder and
other acts of criminal
violence in the country,
says a political
commentator in Baltimore.
Myles Hoenig made the
remarks while discussing
the spike in homicides in
major cities across
America over recent
months.
Homicides in roughly 30
US cities spiked by 9
percent over the first three
months of 2016 compared
to the same period last
year, according to a report
issued by the Major Cities
Chiefs Association.
“A related cause of this
spike is definitely the
strength of the prison
industry,” Hoenig said.
“Prisons in America are
not rehabilitative.”
“They (prisons) are
primarily for punishment,
with the side effect of
creating internal networks
for drug gangs, especially
preparing those who
would soon be released to
carry on their illegal
activities that so hurt the
communities in which they
live,” he noted.
The analyst went on to
say that the prison
industry is a major
supporter of Democratic
presidential front-runner
Hillary Clinton and “is
likely to thrive when it
ought to be outlawed,” in
case she becomes
president.
Referring to the racial
aspects of the issue,
Hoenig said that American
media systematically
ignore “white on white”
crime and magnify the
much lower crime rate of
racial minorities “for the
purpose of maintaining a
falsely painted image of
life in depressed areas.”
Noting that most American
policemen are killed by
white assailants, Hoenig
argued that blacks,
Muslims and other racial
minorities are subject to
constant media bias.
“When it’s one-on-one
violence, it’s often
reported as a black killing
a black, with all the ugly
stereotypes that are
involved. But when it’s
most likely a white, middle
class male engaged in a
mass murder, the issue is
mental health. If it’s a
Muslim involved, of
course it’s international
terrorism,” he explained.
“As many cities are
spiking now, it’s
imperative that we
demilitarize the conditions
as a way of healing our
cities,” he concluded.
The Major Cities Chiefs
Association also reported
increases in rapes,
robberies, aggravated
assaults and non-fatal
shootings.
The report comes two
days after FBI Director
James Comedy linked the
recent increase in crime
to the so-called “viral
video effect,” a theory that
police officers have been
less aggressive because
of concerns about being
recorded and potentially
charged with a crime.

RomanceTips For Dating A Nigerian Woman by Oluola89(op): 5:32pm On Apr 13, 2016
Dating a typical Nigerian lady can be a topsy-turvy experience especially for a man who is just wetting his feet in the dating game. Normally, women are complicated beings let alone a Nigerian woman who has so many challenges to deal with like an unstable economy, family, tradition, ethnicity, religion, peer pressure, biology and much more. All these factors conspire to influence whoever she will date. The average man with his chauvinistic African mindset or perception does not understand this and expect this type of woman to accept him hook, line and sinker. Little does he know that the days of parents marrying wives for their kids is old skool and that most women know what they want. If you want your relationship to blossom with a typical Nigerian woman, Jovago.com, Africa’s shares tips that can make this dream a reality. Give her money to make her hair hairstyleDidi, Shooku, and Patewo are traditional hairstyles in Nigeria but young women prefer the Brazilian hair, the deft Ghana weaving, and attachment because it makes them appear sophisticated. They rarely wear their natural hair, adorning these foreign hairstyles cost money and time and she expects her man to foot the bill for her hair. If not always but once in awhile. In other cases, if you notice she is wearing a new hairstyle, it will not kill you to compliment her and perhaps pay for it. Afterwards, it is because of you, she spends that much time at the salon anyways. Accept the invite to her church Nigerians are very religious people. A typical Nigerian lady will always scheme for ways to invite you to her church especially if she really likes you. Importantly, do not reject the offer even if you not a ‘churchy’ person. It is an opportunity for her to show you off especially if you are smooth and suave, to her family, friends and even her pastor whom she relies on for spiritual guidance. Do not surprise her with a home visit except… A Nigerian woman is calculative and smart. She knows how to play the dating game. She knows the right time and the man who give a pass to her home. But some men jump the gun by paying her a surprise visit to her home. She will not be excited to see. In fact, she may not even come out at all. You are on your own as you disappointed. It is better to be patient for the invite. If she is not forthcoming, you can discuss the issue with her. Respect her parents If she is a woman you desire as a life partner, you must respect her parents when you eventually visit them. For example, if she is from a Yoruba home, you will be swimming in the waters of respect because the Yorubas from South-West Nigeria value respect. So, you are expected to greet not just greeting but prostrate. This will put you in the good books of her parents. Other Nigerian ethnic groups have their rules for respect. A pathway to marriage Any perambulating relationship will not last for the typical Nigerian woman. Sooner or later she will quit the relationship if the relationship is aimless and does not have any direction. She will give you marriage signs but of course, she will not pop the question. She will be more concerned if you are matured and she knows that ready. The question she will ask herself why the delay?

The ancient city of Badagry is known for its tourist attraction and historic sites. The city has so many landmarks and so many cultural artifacts that people troop to the place at least to see the first storey building in Nigeria, missionary cemetery, relics of slave chains and the slave port.

But then again, some Nigerian ladies travel all the way to Badagry to make their hair. The popular ‘one million braids’ is one unique style that has drawn ladies from far and near to the city of Badagry.

However, Badagry is yet very popular for another trade… snakes! Yes, there is a market in the heart of the city that is meant for buying and selling of snakes.

Popularly known as Snake Market, and as incredible as it may sound to so many people, the market is busy, if not busier than every other market where normal everyday stuff is traded.

Perhaps because it operates every nine days, it could account for the reason the market is so busy as thousands of people from Nigeria and neighbouring countries come to trade in nothing else but snakes.

From Benin Republic with love

The snake sellers in particular are mostly non-Nigerians. Most of them are from neighbouring Benin Republic and also Togo and because they find a huge market for their crawling wares, they readily and eagerly look forward to every nine days to come and make some money.

Hubert Boni, a Beninese who has been in the business for over 10 years, said he rears snakes and brings his stock to Badagry to sell every week.

“In my community in Benin, we don’t even eat snakes. Snakes crawl freely in our compounds. So, when I realised that there was a huge market for them here, I decided to make it my business and since then, I have received a lot of patronage from people from Nigeria in particular,” he said.

Roobert Ake is another Beninese who comes all the way from Cotonou to sell snakes in the market in Badagry. Ake said he took over the business from his late mother who was into it for more than 15 years.

“My mother taught us this business. She is Nigerian though we are not conversant with her family in Nigeria, we don’t know them. We make an average of N20, 000 as profit on this business every market day. We have a snake farm in Cotonou and we bring them down for people who know the worth here in Nigeria,” he said.

Brisk business for buyers

Taiwo Osueke is one of the people who travel all the way from her Igando, Lagos base to Badagry to source and buy snakes.

Osueke, who runs a restaurant, said she leaves her house as early as 4am in order to get to Badagry around 6.30am so as to get a good buy.

“The market is filled with so many people and as such, I have to come very early. I buy different species of snakes from these men from Benin Republic. The prices differ. It all depends on the size of the snake. If the snake is small, I could get it for as cheap as N500 each but if it is the large sized one, I buy if for N1,500,” she said.

Osueke said her restaurant has become so popular and she doesn’t mind the stress she undergoes in order to get her stock.

“Most of my customers would rather go for snake meat than beef or fish. I use snakes to make soups to serve food and I also use some to make pepper soup. It all depends on what my customer wants,” she said.

Same could be said for Basirat Akinlade who said she has been selling snake pepper soup for more than 12 years.

Based in Meiran, Lagos State, Akinlade said she got into the business when she realised how lucrative it is.

“I used to sell ponmo (Cow hide), assorted meat before selling cow tail. But then, I realised that everybody was doing that business. It was just too common. So I decided to do snake business. I started selling snake pepper soup and people started coming to patronise me.

“The business is more lucrative than what I was doing before. We are just few in the business and we can’t even cater for the number of people that eat it. Many people do not have the heart to carry a snake, let alone killing it and cooking it. That has just left the business to be run by few people. That is why I enjoy it because I make a lot of money from it.

“For it to be edible, it takes a lot of processes. But I love doing it and it is my job so I don’t mind the process involved. I am known everywhere when it comes to snake business. The business has taken me to Ibadan, Ogbomosho, Oshogbo, Port Harcourt and so many other places. I am invited to parties. People request for snake pepper soup and meat specially,” she said.

Akinlade who deals in roasted and fresh snakes, said she also brings in live snakes but only on request.

“I bring live snakes for those that request them. They are more expensive than the dead ones. Some people who order for snakes may decide to use them as pets, I wouldn’t know why they would ask for live snakes but I do buy them for some people,” she said.

For these snake merchants and others, there is nothing like having phobia for snakes. They are not among the set of people who cringe or get repulsed at the sight of these reptiles.

Akinlade said, “Snake hasn’t bitten me before. I am not scared of snakes. There is no animal that is not scared of human beings. If I am processing it and the scale pierces my body, I just remove it. Some people will tell you that the scale is poisonous but it is not true; it is all based on superstition, there is nothing like that.”

Another buyer, Joseph Ganiat, who lives in Badagry said he doesn’t believe in any cultural or religious stigma associated with snakes.

“I have not seen snakes in my dream before. I don’t have any reason to be scared of snakes. They even know that when I see them, I would just kill them. The one that is very popular is meno meno. People love to eat that one a lot. Cobra tastes like stock fish. I ‘rush’ the snake any time I see it and it is tasty.”

In her own remarks, Akinlade added, “I don’t know if God cursed snake but it doesn’t matter. Christians and Muslims eat snakes. There is no way I will see a snake and run away. In fact, no snake can even come here. Since the bones are usually thrown away and they perceive the smell, they would crawl away. Snake meat is not unusual. It is something I do all the time. My dream is that this business will take me outside the shores of this country where I will be going to supply snakes to people abroad.”

While agreeing that so many people are scared of snakes, Akinlade says she uses it to her advantage sometimes.

“At times, when I alight from a bus, I will just bring out two of the snakes from my sack and I would pretend as if I am a snake charmer and the conductor will just tell me to please go with my money,” she said jocularly.

‘Snake meat freshens our skin’

Cow tail, goat meat, turkey, fish and even snails are among the popular meat that take most guys and ladies to joints to sit out and have a good time while drinking some bottles of their choice drinks. Snake meat hasn’t always been part of the menu.

But at the moment, snake meat is gradually taking the centre stage as some Nigerians are having a good time while ‘downing’ plates of snake pepper soup over drinks. To most of them, there is nothing as refreshing and tasty as snake meat.

Our correspondent visited a snake pepper soup joint at Ejo Village, Meiran, Lagos and saw so many men – young and old – devouring plates of pepper soup as if their entire lives depended on it. According to most of them, snake meat freshens their skin and cures their ailments.

A fashion designer who gave his name as Obama said he enjoys snake meat more than any other meat.

He said, “Other meat including fish or cow meat is something you can eat every other day. But snake is not something you can see every day to eat. I am not scared of snake. If you don’t try to harm it, it will not bite you. Snake is good. If you eat it all the time, it will freshen your body and your face will be shining. I can eat snake about three times in a week. My wife and children eat snake. Even my colleagues also eat snake. If you eat fresh snake, I am not sure you would want to eat any other thing. If you use it to cook soup and eat it with fufu or amala, then it is out of this world. Snake is just too sweet and I enjoy it a lot. I don’t feel uncomfortable eating it. Is it not meat?”

As for Segun Oladimeji, who is also based in Lagos, there is nothing like snake meat as he also claimed it freshens his skin.

“ I come here every day to eat snake meat. The fresh one is just perfect. I have been eating snake meat for six years and I come to Ejo village in all these years to eat snake. I discovered this place one day when I came from Lagos Island to see a friend of mine. Just as I got to his house, he said he would love to entertain me. He suggested we go to a drinking joint. He brought me here and ordered snake pepper soup. Since that day, I have remained hooked to snake meat. Snake is not a bad animal. It is good for the body. It freshens my skin. I can attest to that. Anytime I can’t make it here physically, my wife comes to get it for me,” he said.

‘Snake is like every other meat’

Another snake eater, Sesan Deinde, who spoke to our correspondent, said there is no day he doesn’t eat snake meat regardless of the general perception about it.

Deinde believes that snake meat is like every other meat and should not be perceived differently or seen as something repulsive.

“If I don’t eat it, I don’t know what will happen to me. It is true snake is dangerous but that is only when it is alive. When it has been killed, it is like any other meat. Some people may say they don’t eat rat but I tell you, if rat is prepared very well, you will still see people rushing to eat it. So snake is edible and highly nutritious. For me, it even cures certain sicknesses in my body. My grandfather used to eat snake.

“I used to call snake panla. It tastes just like stockfish. I eat both fresh and dried snake. Fresh snake is different from the dry one. If my wife sees me eating snake, she snatches it from my hand and eats it before her own is brought. She also cooks snake for me at home. All other meat is rubbish; snake is the perfect meat to eat. You know it is different but it is something everybody can eat. Some people said it is not in their culture to eat snake. But for me and my family, there is no culture like that. We eat our snake and nothing has happened or will happen to us. We enjoy it a lot. I am not aware that it is associated with evil; some people just sit down to form what is not true about snake. In the Old Testament in the bible, some things were cursed and said it should not be eaten. But when Jesus came, He said everything is good. That is why I am eating it,” he said.

Nigeria's snake eater3Another lover of snake meat, Rotimi Akeredolu, agreed that where he comes from, eating snake is not popular but that hasn’t stopped him from enjoying it anytime he comes across it.

“Oh, there is no doubt about it, I love eating snake. I wouldn’t say snake is part of popular meat in Yoruba land but some people eat it occasionally. Those who enjoy it so much do not hesitate to settle down for a meal of their delicious meat at any given joint where it is being sold.

Akeredolu said he started eating snakes when he was very young and has not stopped and may likely not stop eating the meat.

“We used to kill it in our farm, take it home, cook it and eat it. It is true that it is not popular in this part of the country as a staple; that is why you will not go to any party and be served a plate of snake. But really, people misinterpret it. Some people think it is a taboo to serve snake meat or even eat it. They may even think you want to poison them. But that is not true. I am used to eating snake. It is not strange to me.

“Anybody who says he or she doesn’t eat snake would not have had anything to do with the farm. But I am a son of a big farmer and we used to kill and eat snakes. If my father weren’t a farmer, I may not have been used to snake. I may not have had the opportunity of eating it. The first time I ate a snake was in 1969, I was in Modern 1. My father had employed one man, Mr. Ayeni, to be in charge of his farm. Ayeni had seen a snake entering a hole but he called me and deceived me that we should kill a rabbit which he saw had entered the hole. I did not waste time at all and I began to dig. I would dig and use my hand to scoop out the sand. I never knew there was a snake inside. However, it was just God that saved my life. As I was about to dip my hand inside the hole with the aim of dragging the rabbit which I erroneously believed was there, lo and behold, the black cobra emerged and I was scared because that was not what I expected to see. As it struggled to escape, we were able to overpower it. We took it home and cooked it and we ate it. That was my first time. I eat all edible snakes. There are some that are not edible. Snake may not be my favourite meat but that doesn’t take away the fact that I love and enjoy eating it.

From a nutritionist’s perspective

A Lagos-based nutritionist, Mr. Okunola Oladimeji, said there is nothing wrong in eating snakes. To him as well, snake is like every other meat but even healthier.

“Snake belongs to the class of reptiles. I am very sure that snake is a very good source of calcium and protein. There is nothing dangerous about consuming snakes. It is just that there is this belief that snake is evil and that makes a lot of people not to eat it. I don’t eat it but I have a lot of friends who eat it and they enjoy it. I have eaten it before in any case and I know there is nothing wrong with it. I would simply advise that if it is convenient for you and you find it okay, you can continue eating it. It is a healthy meat to eat,” he said.

Politics"Biafra": True Or Falze? Fg Unnecessarily Making Nnamdi Kanu A Legend by Oluola89(op): 4:07am On Mar 25, 2016
SECOND Republic politician and Anambra State Chairman
of the defunct Nigeria Peoples Party, NPP, Chief Guy
Ikokwu, has urged the Federal Government to release
without delay the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of
Biafra, IPOB, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu because his continued
incarceration is not in the best interest of the country.
Ikokwu, a lawyer of over 50 years and a chieftain of the
defunct National Democratic Coalition, NADECO, attributed
the raging clamour for Republic of Biafra to the refusal of
Nigeria’s leaders to restructure the country, which he
argued is hindering the nation’s socio-economic growth.
Nigeria, Igbo must not go for second civil war Asked his
take on the raging agitation for the Republic of Biafra,
Ikokwu, who fought the civil war on the side of Biafra,
said: ‘’Generally speaking and in line with what Chief
Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, who was the first
leader of Biafra said, our people should not go for a
second civil war. It is in public domain. It is on Youtube
and video. Anybody can play it and listen to what he
said. Ikokwu In saying that, he said history should be a
lesson not only for Nigeria but also for Igbo people and
that the grave implications of a civil war are such that the
initiators do not normally know where it would end and
who and who would suffer. In the first civil war, the
majority of those who suffered were the innocent people.
More than a million people died and they were not the
ones who started the war or were fighting the war. He
said a second civil is not in the best interest of Nigeria,
that Nigeria should learn its own lesson and understand
that the Igbo always add value to anywhere they go. To
any situation they are called upon, they add value. They
never go anywhere to deteriorate the existing situation.
Not only that they are so flexible that they can change
their culture – language and dressing that they and the
natives will almost look alike; that the main thing Nigeria
should do is to restructure the country into fiscal
federalism as our founding fathers – Herbert Macauley,
Nnamdi Azikiwe, Obafemi Awolowo, Ahmadu Bello,
Dennis Osadebey, MI Okpara , etc, who agitated and got.
They fought for a federal structure and this is embedded
in our national anthem – in diversity we stand, there is
unity in diversity. Need for justice equity, fairplay ‘’That is
where the Igbo stand. There should be unity in diversity.
We should use the diverse abilities of each group. The
Yoruba have where they excel. Six zonal structure The
Urhobo, Hausa, Fulani, Tiv, Nupe, Kanuri, etc, each have
where they excel. Use all these diversifications to
promote a united front so that on the whole, the whole
nation will rise up and be better for it. That is where we
stand. There should be justice, equity and fair-play. Once
these three things are given, you will not find any more
resentment or demonstration by youths. At the moment,
majority of Nigerians believe in the six zonal structure.
Leading Nigerians from all parts of the country like
Emeka Anyaoku, Wole Soyinka, Kayode Fayemi, Bolaji
Akinyemi, etc have said a thousand times: Give these
geo-political zones federating powers so that they can
become the federating units. Each federating unit can
take care of certain things in its area. It can take care of
its youths, hospitals, infrastructure and even local
councils. If a federating unit wants one million local
governments, let it create them and pay them from its
own resources. It is these federating units that will now
engender the issue of diversification, which economic
wise, the present Federal Government has been told: with
falling oil prices, you don’t have enough federal revenues
again, the economy should be diversified so that each
unit will contribute what it has in its area. For instance,
the South-East has oil palm, the North can produce
groundnut, cotton. The South-South has rubber, oil palm.
The South-West has cocoa. If we diversify the economy,
Nigeria will be stronger and richer. You don’t have solid
minerals in the East but you have it in the North-East and
North-Central. It is only now that the Federal Government
is asking the Solid Minerals Minister, Kayode Fayemi, to
ensure that the Federal Government regulates the mineral
deposits and how they are exploited. Exploiting of solid
minerals In the North, it is individuals that are exploiting
the solid minerals but in the South, individuals are not
allowed to pump oils. All these are not only to the
detriment of the zone but also the whole the country.
Looting our national treasury more treasonable than
operating Radio Biafra On the way IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu
is going about the Biafran agitation and the Federal
Government slamming of treasonable charges against
Kanu, he said: ‘’The issue of Radio Biafra is not
treasonable. Radio Biafra is digital instrument registered
in United Kingdom or America. It is not the first time.
Professor Wole Soyinka had Radio Kudirat, done abroad
and broadcasting to Nigeria. NADECO endorsed such
foreign radios by Nigerians. It is a matter of freedom of
information. If Kanu is guilty of treason on account of
Radio Biafra then millions of Nigerians are guilty of
treason in the social media because it is a digital matter
now. You take your smart phone and say whatever you
like – good, bad, rubbish, exemplary, etc.

HealthNAFDAC Destroys N1bn Worth Of Expired Drugs by Oluola89(op): 3:53am On Mar 25, 2016
source: www.kleeqers.com/forum/health/1060-nafdac-destroys-n1bn-worth-of-expired-drugs#7238

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration
and Control has destroyed fake and unwholesome
products worth over N1bn in Ogun State.
The products destroyed included expired products
voluntarily handed over to the agency by compliant
companies in the country
Other products destroyed were fake and counterfeit drugs
seized by Investigation and Enforcement Directorate in
Lagos State and environs, prohibited substandard and
expired food products, cosmetics and other regulated
products seized from manufacturers and importers as
well as distributors.
Speaking at the Sagamu Local Government Dumpsite,
Ogun State, the acting Director General of the Agency,
Mrs. Yetunde Oni, who decried the activities of drug
fakers, described drug counterfeiting as an act of
economic sabotage and terrorism against public health.
Oni, represented by the Director Investigation and
Enforcement Directorate, Mr. Kingsley Ejiofor, noted that
the agency had put in place measures to ensure that
only genuine medicines and wholesome foods were
imported, exported, manufactured and distributed in
Nigeria.
Oni stated, “We just secured a seven-year jail term for a
lady involved in counterfeiting of pharmaceuticals, among
others. We commend the judiciary for its support in the
protection of public health.
“We shall continue to enforce the regulations governing
regulated products in Nigeria. Surveillance and
enforcement operations at our ports, borders and
identified routes used by smugglers have been intensified
and this has led to increased seizures of fake regulated
products smuggled through our borders.”
Oni urged Nigerians to be watchful of drugs, foods and
other regulated products they purchase and report any
suspicious activities within their environment to the
nearest NAFDAC office.

Since my husband had an operation for his prostate
cancer, he has not been able to perform. Now our
sex life is non-existent.
He asked me a few times if I missed sex and I
always reassured him I don’t. I am in my thirties and
have three lovely children.Recently, a new manager
joined the firm I work with and we’ve become great
friends. He is married too. In one of our discussions,
I told him about my husband and he was
sympathetic. He told me that until my husband is
able to make love to me again, he wouldn’t mind to
be a substitute. He is quite good looking and I miss sex. Should I grab this convenient offer?

SportsSee How Hot Peppersoup Caused Panic Over ALEX Iwobi by Oluola89(op): 1:35pm On Mar 24, 2016
NIGERIAN humour is a good way to pass through tough times, as Alex Iwobi must have learnt in the past couple of days. After the Arsenal forward came down with food poisoningand missed Tuesday morning’s training with
the Super Eagles in Abuja, team mates rallied round
him with encouraging words, according to team
media officer Toyin Ibitoye. However, the older players
did not fail to point out that he was the architect
of his own problems by choosing to consume
pepper soup in camp knowing he has a ‘soft stomach’. Iwobi was born in Nigeria but was raised in England where there is less emphasis on consumption of chili
pepper in meals, unlike in Nigeria where chili is a
staple in several dishes. Yet other reports claim
that Iwobi’s ailment was caused by the
consumption of salad at the team’s hotel.
Midfielder Ogenyi Onazi seems to have taken the
youngster under his wings while Chelsea’s John Obi
Mikel threw a bottle of water in a playful banter at
the Arsenal man during a break in training on Tuesday evening.
After overcoming the crisis and having a short physical
examination by the team’s physio in Kaduna, Iwobi
later confirmed via Twitter that the worst was over.
“Had the maddest food poisoning but I am good
now and feeling ready for the Egyptian match,” he
wrote.

PoliticsGhenghen! IPOB Asks Igbo To Stop Eating Fulani Cows by Oluola89(op): 10:51am On Mar 22, 2016
The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has asked Igbo to boycott Fulani cattle to avoid cases whereby Fulani herdsmen would infiltrate their towns and villages to kill them and rape their women.

IPOB also asked Ndigbo to grow their own local cows which were in abundance at Abakaliki, in Ebonyi State, Nsukka in Enugu State and Obudu in Cross River State.

In a statement signed by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, the organisation said, “After putting our acts together, IPOB discovered that the Fulani herdsmen are determined to exterminate the lives of Biafrans through their herdsmen.

“We in the IPOB worldwide are calling on all Biafrans to stop eating Fulani cows and stop patronizing them. They will leave our land and stop raping our women and girls and they will stop killing our men because of our wives and girls.

“We discovered that these Fulani herdsmen are not ordinary people but Boko Haram insurgents who were trained by their brothers. We are calling on Biafrans to start eating goat meat, chickens and fish.

“Again, all Biafrans should start rearing their local cows. We have them at Abakiliki in Ebonyi State, Nsukka in Enugu State and Obudu Ranch in Calaber, Cross River State in abundance.

“If we Biafrans implement this without patronizing them again, they will leave our land without molestations because they were equipped with guns and we Biafrans don’t have guns and ammunition. “We also know that Hausa/Fulani don’t eat much of cow meat but have you asked yourselves questions why they don’t eat red meat?

“IPOB reminds you about what the Hausa/Fulani did in Agatu, Benue State and in Delta State where they kidnapped a traditional ruler and killed him and in Enugu and Ebonyi states where they ravaged, killed, maimed and raped our women and girls.”

Catalyst for new Biafra

Meantime, wife of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB and Director of Radio Biafra, Mrs. Uchechi Okwu-Kanu has said that the arrest and continued incarceration of her husband is a catalyst for new Biafra agitation.

In a statement from United Kingdom made available to Vanguard, Mrs. Kanu said: “The absence of my husband is mind-bending, it is inexplicable. I am practically a zombie but I am holding up, but it has not been easy since October 2015 when he was arrested in Lagos.

“The arrest of Nnamdi Kanu is the catalyst driving the new agitation. Hence, what could have taken years to achieve in terms of awareness and mobilization was achieved within a short frame of time. And this is testimony to the fact that IPOB through Radio Biafra did a lot of ground work prior to the arrest.

“If you recall, I mentioned in December that most people are awakened by the call of this cause but you will agree with me now that almost every being in the whole world has Biafra on their lips both ‘for’ and ‘against.’”

FamilyBlind Wife Defends Husband Accused Of Setting Landlord Ablaze (photo) by Oluola89(op): 12:53pm On Mar 21, 2016
Nekpen, the blind wife of Jeff Obasohan, has insisted that the allegation that her husband set their landlord ablaze is false.
Obasohan had been accused of setting his
landlord, Pa Joseph Iyen, ablaze on Uwa Street, in Oredo Local Government
Area of Edo State. The incident reportedly
occurred on Wednesday at the residence of the deceased, located between Second EastCircular road and Third East Circular roads in Benin, the state capital.
It was gathered that there had been a protracted quarrel between the late
landlord and Obasohan over his unpaid rent.
The 83-year-old landlord was said to have died after sustaining severe burns while Obasohan, also known as One Love,
was arrested by policemen from the Esigie
Police Division.
Sources from the victim’s family had said that the late Pa Iyen had also given the suspect a quit notice on two occasions,
because he (Jeff) allegedly refused to pay
his rent.
The wife of the deceased, Esther, had alleged that the tenant had threatened
her life and that of her late husband.
“He does not pay his house rent; he does not pay the light bill. Since 2014, we said he should leave this house, I don’t want trouble.
“He threatened to kill me or my husband. We took him to court. Then, my husband fell sick. Later, they said that the case
had been struck out,” the widow had said.
The daughter of the late man, Faith Eganbor, who also claimed that the tenant was asked to leavethe building in 2014 and 2015, called for a thorough investigation intothe matter and justice for
the aggrieved family members.
When contacted, the state
Police Public relations officer, Osifo Abiodun, while confirming the incident, told Southern City News that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal
Investigation Department for further investigation.
“That is true. Yes, he. (suspect) is in custody.
The suspect has made a statement; the case has been transferred to the
state CID,” Abiodun said.
But the blind wife of the suspect, Nekpen, said herfamily, including her husband, was asleep when they were alerted by the screams of some neighbours to a fire
outbreak that affected two doors leading to theirapartment.
She said, “I am blind. Iwas sleeping with my children in one room at about 4am. The next thing I heard was people shouting in the backyard, ‘Fire! Fire is burning at One Love’s (Obasohan) side! Open the door!’ So, we, including my husband, woke up.
“We ran to the kitchen, butthe heat from the fire was coming into our house. It
was after some tenants at the backyard put out the fire at the back door that
we were able to comeout.”
Nekpen continued, “When we asked our neighbours what happened, they said that they did not know and that they only saw the fire.
As we came out, one boypassed us; he said he wanted to ease himself.
“When he got outside, he saw that Edionwan was burning on the ground.
People started shouting. So, we locked the gate so that nobody would go out.
When the police came, they told us to open thedoor. They brought us out and took my husband to Esigie Police Station.”
When asked if she knew how the landlord caught
fire, the blind woman said,
“I was inside the house.
How will I know? It was
the shouts of the tenants
that made us to know that
our front and back doors
were burning. I beg the
government to look into
the case.”
The elder brother to the
suspect, who identified
himself as Tony, said that
he alerted the police when
he was informed of the fire
incident, alleging that the
deceased landlord had
intended to set Jeff and
his family ablaze.
Tony said, “I was the one
that called the police. The
boy (Obasohan) is my
younger brother. I called
Esigie (police station). I
called the control room.
The police went there two
times and said that there
was nothing like that.
“But I told them that there
was a dead man in that
house. I told them to go
again before they
succeeded in bringing my
brother out. The man (the
deceased) wanted to burn
my brother and the
family.”
Meanwhile, Obasohan’s
90-year-old mother,
Princess Obasuyi, has
called on the state
government to ensure
fairness and justice.
She said, “Last month, the
landlord called to tell me
that my son should leave
his house. I begged for
time to enable him to
search for a house but he
refused.”
But the Edo Police
Command spokesman,
who said that he was not
aware of an earlier
complaint by the suspect,
maintained that the matter
was still under
investigation.
“We are not aware of that
unless I find out. That
matter is under
investigation. If they have
evidence, they should go
to the state CID where the
matter is. If there is record
to that effect, they should
draw the attention of
those investigating,”
Abiodun said on Sunday

RomanceMy Boy Friend Is Romantically Linked To A Woman Who Is His Sugar-mummy (photo) by Oluola89(op): 8:41pm On Mar 16, 2016
I knew my boyfriend was romantically linked to a fashion designer almost 16 years his senior when I met him. He was a widower and his lover visited as often as she could because she was married.

As compensation, she was financially responsible for virtually everything he had - the bed, his clothes and second hand car.
After I met him, we started meeting fairly regularly and I even stayed over in his flat from time to time.
He made it clear, though, that he was very fond of this older woman and wouldn’t want to hurt her. I asked him if he didn’t want to remarry and he said not in the immediate future. I have seen this woman and she’s not half as pretty as I am.
What in God’s name does he see in her to prefer hurting me like this?

A 77-year-old retired engineer on Wednesday pleaded with an Agboyi-Ketu Customary Court in Lagos to dissolve his 23-year-old marriage, alleging that his wife often starved him of sex.
The septuagenarian, Kola Fagbule, whose address was not disclosed, told the court that his 51-year-old wife, Beatrice, always denied him sex anytime he demanded for it.
“She always starves me of sex whenever I am in the mood and I don’t want to have prostate cancer.
“At my age, I am supposed to be enjoying sex now and not when I am gone; I don’t want to die before my time,” he told the court.
Fagbule also accused Beatrice, principal of a school, of not caring for his welfare, adding that there was no more love between them.
