1. Frequent Urination Also known as polyuria, frequent and/ or excessive urination is a sign that your blood sugar is high enough to start to spill into the urine. Because your kidneys can’t keep up with. the high glucose levels, they allow some of that sugar to go into your urine, where it draws additional water, making you have to urinate often. 2. Extreme Thirst Extreme thirst is one of the first noticeable symptoms of diabetes for some. It’s tied to high. blood sugar levels, which cause thirst, and is. exacerbated by. frequent urination. Often, drinking won’t satisfy the thirst. 3. Increased Hunger Intense hunger, or polyphagia, is also an early warning sign of diabetes. Your body uses the sugar in your blood to feed your cells. When the cells can’t absorb the sugar (because of a lack of insulin), your body looks for more sources of fuel, causing persistent hunger. 4. Nerve Pain or Numbness You might experience tingling or numbness in your hands, fingers, feet, and toes. This is a sign of diabetic neuropathy, or nerve damage. You are most likely to experience this after several years of living with diabetes. 5. Slow Healing Wounds There are several reasons why a wound will heal more slowly if you have diabetes. Poor circulation, the effects of high blood sugar on blood vessels, and immunodeficiency are just a few. If you experience frequent infections or wounds that are slow to heal, it could be an early symptom. 6. Blurred Vision Blurred vision occurs early in unmanaged diabetes. It can be a sign of high blood sugar levels, which cause fluid to shift into the lens of the eye. This usually resolves when blood sugar levels normalize. 7. Dark Skin Patches Dark discoloration in the folds of your skin is called acanthosis, nigricans and is another early warning sign of type 2 diabetes. They are most common in the armpits, neck, and groin regions, according to the Mayo Clinic. for more details on type 2 diabetics visit www. kleeqers.com/forum/health/695-7-early-signs-of-type2-diabetes#6836 |

A 25-year-old, Christopher Ogbeide, who allegedly raped a teenage girl, was on Tuesday remanded in Kirikiri Prisons on the order of an Ikeja Chief Magistrates' Court. The Chief Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, who gave the order, said the accused should remain behind bars pending when his bail application would be filed and argued. The accused, an unemployed, who lives at 52, Adewale Adegun St., off College Road, Ifako-Ijaiye, a suburb of Lagos, is being tried for rape. Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Benedict Aigbokhan told the court that the offence was committed on Feb. 14 and 29 at the accused’s residence. According to him, both the accused and the 13-year-old girl, live in the same compound. ``The accused called the girl into his room on Feb. 14 on the pretext of sending her on an errand and raped her. ``The accused also called the girl on Feb. 29 into his room to rape her again but was unlucky as one of the neighbours heard the girl’s groaning and called her mother," he said. The offence, according to the prosecutor, contravenes Section 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.The accused pleaded not guilty. The case was adjourned to March 23. source: http://www.kleeqers.com/forum/romance/689-heehe-unemployed-youth-docked-in-lagos-for-allegedly-raping-13-year-old-girl |
This visual abstract depicts what Lee et al. found, how glucose utilization by brown fat in humans is coupled with heat production in a circadian manner. Higher brown fat abundance correlates with lesser glycemia variability, suggestingthat brown fat may help buffer glucose fluctuations and maintain whole-body glucose homeostasis over time. Credit: Lee et al./Cell Metabolism 2016 Australian scientists have shown that brown fat - a special type of fat that burns energy to produce heat - may also help to keep blood sugar steady in adults. Researchers at Sydney's Garvan Institute of Medical Research measured brown fat activity and blood glucose continuously in real time in study participants, and found that individuals with more brown fat had smaller fluctuations in blood sugar . Their findings open new avenues for diabetes therapies that target brown fat. The incidence of type 2 diabetes, which is characterised by high blood sugar, is reaching epidemic proportions worldwide. There is a need for new insights into how blood sugar levels can be controlled, beyond mechanisms actioned by currently available therapies. Now, researchers at Garvan have shown that brown fat may help to minimise fluctuations in blood sugar (blood glucose) concentration in adults. Their work is published today in the prestigious journal Cell Metabolism. Unlike white fat, which primarily stores energy, brown fat burns energy - often in remarkably large amounts. Sitting just above the collarbone and in the neck, brown fat acts like a heat generator, helping to keep us warm by burning sugar and fat. Dr Paul Lee and Associate Professor Jerry Greenfield, of Garvan's Diabetes and Metabolism Division, have long been interested in whether brown fat might have a role beyond keeping us cosy. Dr Lee says, "Brown fat takes up so much glucose that we wondered whether brown fat could affect the concentration of glucose in the blood - and whether, therefore, brown fat-targeted therapies might help control diabetes. "Previously, we showed that individuals with large brown fat stores tend to be lean and have lower blood glucose - and now, we have uncovered a potential link between brown fat activity and blood glucose variations." The research team studied a group of 15 healthy adults over 12 hours. They found that blood glucose levels and heat production by brown fat were closely related, tracking together over time. source http://www.kleeqers.com/forum/health/566-brown-fat-keeps-blood-sugar-in-check

An international team of scientists has identified novel gene locations associated with childhood body mass index (BMI)—an important measurement related to childhood obesity. The meta-analysis, covering over 47,000 children, is the largest genetic study to date of childhood BMI. "Although investigators have found many genes associated with adult BMI, the genetics of childhood BMI has remained largely unknown," said Struan F.A. Grant, Ph.D., a genomics researcher at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), and one of three co-senior authors of the study. "Given the fact that childhood obesity is an important concern in public health, identifying specific genetic influences could prove useful in designing future preventive interventions and treatments for children." The study appeared in the Jan. 2, 2016 issue of Human Molecular Genetics . Grant's co-senior authors were Nicholas J. Timpson, of the University of Bristol, U.K.; and Vincent W.V. Jaddoe, of University Medical Center, Rotterdam, Netherlands. All three are leaders of an international collaborative group, the Early Growth Genetics (EGG) Consortium. Another CHOP researcher, Jonathan P. Bradfield, is a co-first author of the study. The meta-analysis covered 33 genome-wide association studies, including a total of over 45,000 children, all of European ancestry. Of that total, there were 35,668 children from 20 studies in the discovery phase, and 11,873 children from 13 replication studies. The researchers found 15 genomic regions associated with childhood BMI, three of which were novel. In all, the 15 risk-susceptibility loci account for 2 percent of the variance in childhood BMI. Despite this small proportion, said Grant, it provides crucial novel insight into the biology of obesity and provides opportunities for generalized therapeutic intervention. The 12 previously discovered genetic loci were shared between both adults and children with high BMI. The large overlap, said the authors, suggests that the genetic variants may not exert their effects only in childhood, but may have different effects at different ages. Grant added that further research may determine whether the three novel loci the study group discovered influence BMI only in childhood, or whether their effects are stronger during childhood. The current study, said Grant, dovetails with a 2012 meta-analysis he led for the EGG Consortium, published in Nature Genetics. That research was the largest genome-wide study of common childhood obesity. "Obviously, much research remains to be done," said Grant, who added, "As we continue to identify gene variants implicated in pediatric obesity and body mass, we are laying a foundation for research that could provide useful biological targets for better treating childhood obesity, and its negative health consequences." source : http://www.kleeqers.com/forum/health/562-new-gene-variants-found-in-childhood-body-mass-index

I am in my mid-20's and have a healthy appetite for sex. I like to know if a man is really good in bed before committing to having a relationship with him. Most of the time, I sex-test my dates before deciding whether I like them or not. As a result, I’ve broken off with a couple of my dates after having unenjoyable sex with them. Now my friends tell me that I’m getting a reputation for using and dumping men. That is the furtherest thing on my mind. How do I change this opinion? for more info visit www.kleeqers.com/forum/welcome-to-kleeq-nigerian-forum/530-help-i-broke-up-with-lot-of-men-due-to-unenjoyable-sex

There is an alarming increase in the rate at which people are diagnosed with cancer these days. In the last one week, I have heard at least five cases of people I know. It is scary. Below, I have compiled a list of some food items that promotes good health and some that can trigger off cancer 1. Stinky vegetables: Such sulfur_containing veggies – such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, kale and Brussels sprouts – “turn off signals to cancer cells to divide and conquer,” 2. Pistachios: This green nut is full of gamma_tocopherol, a potentially cancer_fighting type of vitamin E.-(available in mega supermarkets) 3. Beans: The fiber, potassium, magnesium and folate in beans are tied to decreased cancer risk, says the AICR’s experts. And some of the beans’ phytochemicals may slow tumor growth and inhibit cancer cell reproduction. 4. Green, yellow and orange fruits and vegetables: These colorful foods give us carotenoids, a powerful anti_cancer antioxidant. Fill up on broccoli, carrots, spinach, pawpaw and pumpkin because they probably protect us from cancers of the lung, esophagus, mouth and pharynx. In fact, it’s a good idea to eat your way across the veggie and fruit rainbow, because each color offers a variety of cancer_fighting vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals. for more info visit. www.kleeqers.com/forum/health/455-cancer-alert-foods-to-eat-and-avoid |
I am Bukunmi a newlywed and I've only been married for 6 months. I married the man I considered the love of my life, my best friend and confidant. We dated for about a year before we got engaged, and he told me that he wanted to abstain from sex, to which I agreed. We've never really had any major issues since we got married. He's a good man and very responsible too. The only problem is in the area of "lovemaking". Honestly, it's been a very bad experience for me. He really doesn't care at all if I'm satisfied or not...
