Education › Re: It's A Pity We Don't Have Active Statistians On Nairaland by olupentane(m): 5:19pm On Jun 15, 2015 |
joywendy: nice but i think you missed it up somewhere, especially with the expected values.
He said the number of the peas should be in proportion to 9:3:3:1.
i.e the total peas which is
315+108 +101+32=556
So proportion of those peas that are round and yellow will be
9/16 *556 = 312.75
on and on like that. i think this should be the hypothesis
H0 : The theory is true, the numbers are of the stated proportion
H1: The theory is false, the numbers are not of the stated proportion.
i may be wrong though, that's one way i know in stating the hypothesis of this question. yea you are right. I just want to confirm if he knows what the hypothesis should be. You really know your maths. well done. |

You should use the same procedure for the first question too. observed 315 108 101 32 Expected ; since the expected ratio is 9:3:3:1 it mean the proportion is 9/16, 3/16, 3/16, 1/16 therefore, Expected 315*(9/16) 108*(3/16) 101*(3/6) 32*(1/6) and your n=4 here you should get your result. What is your hypothesis for this question?. |

cococandy: It could be improved upon. Necessity is the mother of invention. If we import easily, we will never see the need to improve our own products. That said, aba made products last more than some designers even. We just over look them because to nigerians anything foreign is better.
Aba can become the China of west africa if money is pumped into the productivity of those young enterprenuers over there.
I hope the govt considers and urges them to come take easy and low interest rate loans to boost their productivity. plus measures to promote a certain level and standard of goods only.
It can be done. It seems you've not been following the happenings in the importation business, the so called aba made are actually made in china based on the aba boys standard, which they now import to nigeria. These transactions with the chinkos are in dollars, which makes the price of the supposed aba made to increase. |

opendo21: The story of a 2:2 graduate. My experience. I graduated with worst kind of 2:2 you could ever get. Closing CGPA was 3.49. I mean it was a nightmare, "Just give me an A in my project defence instead of this B that seems to have no value" I cried. "Where do I start from?" No connections, No money. It still remains the darkest day of my life. I was reading a motivational book a friend left in my room the previous day and it helped lift my morale. I made up my mind to make the best of the situation. So I started developing myself. Although I studied mathematics, I found accounting interesting and easy. I started with the ATS exams during my youth corps but along the way I got bored so after ATS3 I decided I wanted to make more use of my Mathematical skills, someone told me I should try being an actuary and it turned out it was exactly what I was looking for. After my youth service, the job search began, 15 months, no job, I was later called up by Lagos state to teach Mathematics to secondary school students but that didn't stop me from continuing my professional studies. Fortunately was called up by an insurance company who learnt of my exam success and wanted me to join them as an analyst. Today I am the most paid analyst in my company and i'm still hoping to develop myself further. God is key to your every attainment in life. Just hold on to him, develop new skills. Who knows, you might not need a job at the end of the day. Coz sometimes, you get tired of 9-5 in lagos. please how did you qualify to be an actuary? did you take any exam or it's just your math major ? Thanks. |

mojeed4: makes no difference It does, or how do you explain someone having a cgpa of 5.1 on a 7point who gets a 3.3 on a 4point scale, instead of 2.9 from your conversion method? |
Education › Re: Best Graduating Student With 6.5CGPA Out Of 7.0CGPA At University Of Ibadan by olupentane(m): 4:38pm On Nov 23, 2014 |
mojeed4: Go brush up on your maths plz... Divide yur grade in 7.0 scale by 7 and multiply by 5... that gives yu your grade on a 5.0 scale... it doesn't work that way, you need to evaluate all the courses on a 5pt scale to get the correct cgpa. |
