On 26th of July 2023, Niger’s Presidential Guards led by of its strongest commanders, Abdourahamane Tchiani toppled President Mohamed Bazoum Government in the Capital, Niamey. Commander Abdourahamane Tchiani Subsequently suspended all state institutions, declared a curfew and closed the country’s border. However, the significant excuse used for the coup was the inability of the President, Mohamed Bazoum to deliver dividend of democracy in the best way. The Presidential Guard also said the President failed to effectively subdue terrorism amid other allegations. The coup was consequently greeted with massive condemnation/sanctions from international communities ranging from United Nations to EU, AU, ECOWAS amid all. However, ECOWAS under the hegemony of its new chairman, the Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu seems to take it more seriously than the rest and a lot of people are perplexed on the factor responsible for such attention. Firstly, West Africa Bloc had witnessed 3 different coup since 2021. The military in Sudan, Mali and Guinea illegally detained their Presidents, suspended constitution and declared themselves rulers at the detriment of democracy encouraged for a while. The respective development in those 3 West African States created the precedent for Niger’s recent coup d’ état. ECOWAS feel threatened by these coup campaigns which promoted their will not to let it slide this time around like they did in event of the 3 witnessed preceding now. They hold the firm position that if Niger coup plotters are not expelled via military means in a bid to restore democracy, it could have a corrosive consequence that could birth further coup in the West African bloc. Diplomacy has since failed with the Coup plotters (Niger Presidential Guard) being unyielding to the demand and pressure from ECOWAS, UN, EU and the likes to restore democracy. The Coup plotters has also refused the demand to release their President. They subsequently vowed to resist firm attempt from ECOWAS to delve and restore democracy through military means. However, ECOWAS met to ponder in the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria today and subsequently promulgate their resolution, vivid in them activating standby forces against the Republic of Niger. What does this development infer ? It apparently mean ECOWAS will invade and forcefully restore democracy should Niger Coup Plotters fail to free President Mohamed Bazoum and restore his mandate in coming days. Without equivocation, I don’t share sentiment that promotes Nigerian Military intervention in Niger on the ground that it will cost us unnecessary spending of money that could be channeled to sacrosanct sectors in our Country. Moreso, it may lead to unnecessary causalities amid the military forces deployed. However, people backing Niger coup plotters here in our Country need to face needed reality that they can’t survive engagement with ECOWAS which is one of the most decisive military alliance in Africa. In event of invasion, Niger Coup plotters will relinquish power and flee before ECOWAS Forces get to Capital because they don’t have what it takes to sustain 4 days air and land campaigns with the US, France and other international communities like NATO and EU throwing weight behind ECOWAS. Many Russian President apologists in Nigeria even said ECOWAS won’t dare invade Niger because Vladimir Putin would respond decisively. On a real note, Vladimir Putin has personally condemned the coup and encouraged restoration of democracy. Even at that, Russia has a lot to benefit from ECOWAS in terms of business than Niger, a poor Country who depends on foreign aid for over 50% of its budget. That’s how Foreign Policy work in real world as it doesn’t recourse to emotion. Nevertheless, Russia does have Ukraine to worry about as they can’t fight on two fronts at the moment. The fear of US backing their adversaries is enough to keep Vladimir Putin at bay, hence his support for restoration of democracy. The Niger Coup Plotters need to stop hallucinating as the impending campaign of ECOWAS with the firm backing of President Joe Biden of US and President Emmanuel Macron of France will have a corrosive consequence that could lead to their untimely deaths. Consequently, those encouraging African coup d’ état in our Country need to stop such barbaric orientation. I understand the fact that Democracy hasn’t in anyway meet majority of Africans demand, however, it’s better than Military regime. Sudan, Guinea, Mali and Burkina Faso Coup Plotters have not in way pull miracle in their Countries till date as they are more corrupt than democratic Presidents. Moreso, Military regime have little toleration for fundamental human right of citizens, hence my reservation. Oluwatomisin Akinyele

clericuzzio:Smiles, you’re really ignorant on how litigation and Judgement works in Nigeria. As long as it’s a Federal High Court, Judgment can be promulgated anywhere. The judgment sacking Gov. Olusegun Agagu as the Governor of Ondo State in Favour of Olusegun Mimiko was promulgated by a judge in Edo State and not Ondo State. I’m not a supporter of the judgement against Alex Otti but then, he won’t be inaugurated until a higher court (Supreme) says otherwise. That’s the reality! |

After the declaration of Civil war on 6th of July 1967, Professor Wole Soyinka unofficially met with the former Military Governor of the Eastern Part of Nigeria, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu in a bid to avert the looming humanitarian condition the Nigerian Civil War will facilitate. All his attempt to prevent the negative effect the war would bring via cogent points were deemed tenuous at best. Make no mistake, after the civil war broke out in July 1967 due to both parties (Yakub Gowon & Odumegwu Ojukwu) failure to honor the Ghana’s Aburi Accord of January 4th and 5th, 1967 that could have apparently prevented the over 2 million casualties amid the displacement of close to 5 million Nigerians, Prof. Wole Soyinka stood gallantly with the Igbos. Moreso, Prof. Wole Soyinka’s constant advocation for the Igbo’s right to self-determination (Biafra) and Cease-Fire from Supreme Military Council end was what put him into trouble with Gen. Yakubu Gowon’s regime. Prof. Wole Soyinka went into hiding when he was declared wanted by the Nigerian Military. He was subsequently apprehended and jailed for 22 months on charges of “Conspiring with Rebels” aftermath. Need I remind all these children of perdition that are too indolent to study History of Nigeria that Prof. Wole Soyinka was not only declared wanted by the Gen. Sanni Abacha’s regime but was sentenced to death in absentia by the then Provisional Ruling Council (Military) for advocating Democracy over the corrupt Dictatorship. Prof. Wole Soyinka went into exile in 1994 when it was vivid the Military wanted his head. Prof. Wole Soyinka fought valiantly for Democracy, most importantly; Right to Speech that the likes of these disrespectful Obidents are enjoying at moment, which by contrast afford them the temerity to bully him, alongside other Nationalists. Prof. Wole Soyinka had expressed an opinion on the LP Vice Presidential Candidate, Dr. Yusuf Datti’s manner during his interview with Seun Okinbaloye of Channels TV, few weeks ago. He condemned his inciting statement that “democracy will end in Nigeria should they swear in Bola Tinubu come May the 29th” and subsequently termed some Peter Obi’s apologist “Fascists” for bullying people who differs with them politically. Without equivocation, all Prof. Wole Soyinka’s political assessment, during his last week interview on Channels TV had a lot to do with reality. The only people who contested his position irresponsibly are the same set of bigoted and disrespectful Obidents. They consistently attacked Prof. Wole Soyinka’s personality over his opinion; same privilege they also enjoy as him. They weren’t deterred by the fact that he’s old enough to be a Grand-Father and Father to many of them. They are just so intolerant of others opinion. They exacerbated the hatred a step further by bringing up unnecessary comparison between him and China Achebe. They continue to exalt Chinua Achebe while they vilify Prof. Wole Soyinka over his opinion. Some of them even called him Professor of Àgbàdo (A Yoruba word for Corn which they had constantly used in bullying Bola Tinubu’s supporters). While I adore Chinua Achebe till date, I see no need for the debate since both are beautiful in their own context. China Achebe is more of a beautiful Novelist while Prof. Soyinka is a beautiful Novelist, Dramatist and Poet. Consequently, Prof. Wole Soyinka remain a legend with or without Obidents validation. Prof. Wole Soyinka is a Winner of the 1986 edition of the Nobel Prize in Literature. He was the first African to win the Nobel Prize in Literature and the only Nigerian to do so, till date. He’s the most decorated Writer in our History. Vicious Obidents are too uncultured to know he’s one of the founding father of Democracy in Nigeria. These are the deluxe apogee Obidents want to rubbish because Prof. Wole Soyinka refuse to be part of their political shenanigans. History will never forget!!! Oluwatomisin Akinyele

Yesterday, the Bukingham Palace officially announced the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth ll having reigned for 70 years. However, upon the announcement, the World Leaders including nook and crannies seized various medium to convey their condolences as expected, taking into consideration the status of the Beautiful Queen. Nevertheless, I was concerned with the manner at which some Nigerians took to castigate Her Royal Majesty, Queen Elizabeth ll. While some cursed her consecutively, some prayed she burns in the hell-fire based on colonialism narratives, which they do not have much understanding about. I wasn’t really surprised because that was what some ignorant Nigerians did by drumming support for President Vladimir Putin of Russia, the moment he invaded Ukraine and massacred thousands of civilians, earlier this year. They were quick to digest the propaganda regarding United States invasion of some Countries like Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya as a justification for President Vladimir Putin to kill Ukrainians without making their research. Moreoso, today, some of them also blamed the Queen of England for the Nigerian Civil War (1967-1970), which result to denial of the Easterners self determinism. However, I wondered if some Nigerians literally know the disparity between the Prime Minister and the Ceremonial head: The Queen, in British system of Government. I was wondering if these folks are aware of the dissimilarity between a Constitutional Monarch which is being govern by a Constitution and an Absolute Monarch which has an full authority, excepting check and balance from the constitution. Slave-Trading started back in the 15th century while Colonialism of West Africa where Nigeria comfortably sits, started after the Berlin Conference of 1884-1885. However, I wouldn’t deny the evils the colonialists did, seen in the way we got treated in our respective Lands, but then, they had Pros too. Majority of these atrocities were committed long before Queen Elizabeth ll was born on 21st April, 1926 talk more ascend the British throne. As a Ceremonial Head, the Queen maintains political neutrality as most of the stuffs she tends to sign are based on recommendation from the Prime Minister who is the Head of British Government. Nevertheless, It will interest you to note that after her ascension to the British throne in 1952, She granted independence to huge numbers of African Countries ranging from Nigeria to Ghana, kenya, Uganda, Gambia, Malawi and Mauritius amid host of others. Furthermore, it’s worthy to note that she never invaded nor colonize any new country, instead, she cut-off all long occupations. So why should she be held liable for the crimes committed long before she was birthed ? Why are you not taking cognizance of the fact that as the Queen, she maintain political neutrality (Ceremonial even though powerful) while the Prime Minister as the head of Government take most of political decisions and act together with the House of Lords and that of Common ? Nigeria got emancipated over six decades ago, so when are we going to stop the victim card vis-a-vis our current setbacks which is not in anyway connected to the United Kingdom ? Need I remind you that Queen Elizabeth left a marvelous Country to our Nationalists/Leaders, who in turn destabilize it. Incontrovertibly, we had a great working system, good economy, good currency value, good security system and likes before been thrown into the wind by our Selfish Leaders. Furthermore, are we the only country who got colonized by Britain ? Negative! Britain didn’t only colonize the United States, Australia, Canada and part of China, they extended to Middle East and host of other great Countries. Where are those Countries today ? Are they still living in the past ? You’d agree the United States nuked Japan towards the end of the World War ll (1945), Would Japan be this great if they had resulted to wailing about their past than putting mechanism into place for better future ? Millions of innocents Russians were killed by Adolf Hitler of Germany during the World War ll, would they be great today if they had dwelled on past ? Same as United States of America and Canada including former African British Colonies like South Africa, Ghana and Mauritius which are doing better than Nigeria in all ramifications. Nevertheless, you all said you detest the Queen but then, you love to travel to UK so you could work and make money to sustain life realities. Is that not hypocrisy ? You hate the Westerners but then, you cannot survive without the West and all they invented, social media inclusive. Is that not height of hypocrisy? You apparently speak English language more than Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Fulfulde, Kanuri and Ibibio, Yet you hate the West and would make those who can’t fluently speak the English they brought feel inferior. Is that not hypocrisy ? You hate them but not their religion and most of their cultures. So what do I term you ? You guys are basically HYPOCRITICAL! Consequently, I’m greatly concerned about the primitive mentality of some ill-mannered Nigerians who continue to curse the Queen who had left close to 62 years ago, at death. Hopefully, you people will get to know one day that Death at Old Age is a beautiful thing, hence Respect. Our culture didn’t tell us to judge the dead as we will all die one day. The Queen Elizabeth who passed on yesterday is not responsible for the failure of our Country, Nigeria, hold our Leaders liable for that. Even if the needs be, I’m sure Nigerians will blame ASUU strike and the prevailing Insecurity on Queen Elizabeth ll and Britain who left us 62 years ago. Let the dead rest, Queen Elizabeth did left an indelible mark in the sand of time. Her Majesty would be greatly remembered. Queen Elizabeth is not a Member of APC Queen Elizabeth is not a Member of PDP Stop sheer bitterness and hypocrisy! Oluwatomisin Akinyele Ondo State, Nigeria.

Your money is gone for good |
* EXCUSE OF BEING BUSY- There’s a need to always face reality. Irrespective of we guys busy schedule, it’s pure falsehood to suppose we won’t have time to talk to someone we claim to love genuinely. Unequivocally, we create time for who we love. The guy who’s lying about being busy is probably disturbing another preferable girl like you somewhere. Stop being deluded by busy-excuse whenever you tell him to do well in terms of attention. * DOSEN’T WANT YOU TO MEET HIS FAMILY- If you notice he get mad at you wanting to meet his family inspite of the love you guys claim to have, then get conscious. He’s being either unserious or doesn’t have any plan to go into marriage with you in coming moments. Meanwhile, that doesn’t mean he dosen’t love but means he doesn’t want anything serious beyond. * HE DOSEN’T LIKE IT WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT MONEY- Its sacrosanct girls don’t get this wrong. We have numbers of guys that are really struggling to meet up with life realities at the moment. Moreso, it’s very necessary for you to understand that and don’t put too much pressure on him to provide for you. Rather, motivate, support and pray for him. However, if he’s the rich type and really hate you discussing money with him, be wary of future. * HE’S FOND OF HIDING YOU TOO MUCH- Learn not to fall for his tricks. We have guys who really love private relationship like myself. I do not like to make my relationship open. However, that’s not an earnest excuse for him to hide you beyond. If you notice he’s a kind of person that don’t really like to associate himself or walk with you in public, talk to him to change, if he prove to be unyielding regarding your concern, prepare your mind. * HE DOSEN’T RESPECT YOU NOR LISTEN TO ADVICE- A guy who love you genuinely will always respect you. You can’t claim to love a girl and continue to disrespect her at any slight opportunity. Furthermore, a guy that love you genuinely will always listen to your advice. It’s not really necessary he act on it at all time but once in a blue moon, he need to. Take it seriously if he doesn’t respect you and listen to what you have to say at all time. * HE’S AN UNREPENTANT ABUSER- Try as much as possible not to deceive yourself if he’s a person that abuse you constantly. Abuse is not subjected to physical aspect alone, a woman can be abused emotionally too. If he beat you up constantly and subsequently put your mental health into jeopardy, pls get conscious. Raise your concern, and if he’s being recalcitrant, take to your heels so he doesn’t kill you, considering the rate of women we lose to abuse in Nigeria these days. NOTE: I’m not telling you to leave your relationship with this my post as what I did was just to face reality with you. I personally knew I broke guys code of conduct, but then it’s purely necessary. I’m never a relationship enthusiast, but then, I think this would go a long way to make ladies calculate their chances so they don’t continue to waste their time as guys are fond of doing that. Talk to him about your concerns and need to love genuinely, If he doesn’t change, make your decision. Oluwatomisin Akinyele Ibadan, Oyo State. 17th June, 2022. |
