PoliticsRe: The Politricks Of Gay Marriage by olymurphy(op): 8:38pm On Jun 14, 2013
What this means is that you may not even get there. The Pastor who contracted such marriage, the choir that ministered at the wedding, the Master ofCeremony at the reception, the Editor of the media house that published the notice of such marriage, all those who attended the wedding, are all accomplices and they must go to prison for 10 years without an option of fine.
Could you go to any of the countries in the West and do your wedding in just the same way as Nigerians now rush to Dubai and other places for normal marriages? Of course, you could go to the West and enter into your gay marriage but you would have to remain in the West for the rest of your life. The law provides that certificates of gay marriages issued in foreign countries shall be void in Nigeria. It is that serious!

PoliticsThe Politricks Of Gay Marriage by olymurphy(op): 8:36pm On Jun 14, 2013
WHETHER by accident or design, just about when Monsieur Vincent Autin, 40, and Monsieur Bruno Boileau, 30, (Mr. & Mr.?) were being wedded as husband and wife in far away France, in what has become the country’s first gay marriage, the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was also applying the last six-inch ban nail on the coffin of gay marriages in Nigeria.
That also goes down as one of the bold initiatives of our Federal Legislature in recent times.
Apparently, the West had become overbearing, to the extent that the rest of the world must be coerced into supporting even their propensity for evil.
Close to 53 years after her nominal Independence, so to say, Nigeria’s annual Balance Sheet is still prepared in Washington, DC. Even in the area of our much-touted oil wealth, when the multi-nationals sneeze, Nigeria catches cold because they hold the key to that industry. Our Production Accountant could as well be in the Netherlands. Is it not also true that in the area of record keeping, the daily production quota is what the multi-nationals say it is, particularly in the face of the un-auditable records of our own Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation,NNPC?
The West carries its overbearing attitude through all aspects of our lives. At the social spectrum, for instance, the West insists on determining everything: We must eat what they eat and forbid what they forbid. Until recently, priesthood was the exclusive preserve of the Whiteman. “I say see Father, you say seeoyibo?” was a tacit acceptance of this. We must worship the God they worship. Otherwise, we face the harsh punishment prescribed by them for non-adherence. We may not be allowed to pick the crumbs that fall from their breakfast tables.
When they decide to sleep around with goats and dogs, we must also do the same. When they suddenly turn homosexual, we must quickly bury our heterosexual instincts. Otherwise, as a matter of deliberate policy, there will be no more funding for our projects. That explains why recently, the US and UK issued death threats on aids to Nigeria.
At a point, Nigeria got sick and tired of the whole nonsense and it was time to tell the West to take its financial assistance and shove it! The Bill on the Prohibition of Gay Marriages provided anopportunity for the National Assembly to pour out her invectives on the West for poking its big nose in our affairs.
The need for efficiency and order is a powerful weapon against an obstreperous nation’s conscience to maintain her ethical autonomy. By ethicalautonomy, we mean the willingness to assert one’s own principled judgement, even when that entails violating rules, values and perceptions of others.
A nation is ethically autonomous to the extent that it sticks to its guns about what it thinks, hears, sees and feels, evenwhere to do so puts the nation in conflict with other nations.
We soon got to the point where the National Assembly realised that they must act forcefully to prevent the further embezzlement of public trust. They came out with a law that was made into watertight compartment. Have you ever seen a law into which sufficient rage was built? The Same-sex Marriage Prohibition Law is one such law. It provides a classical case of Black awakening in a White world.
The vexed legislators did not care if aspects of the law carried punishments that could amount to double jeopardy. The law is so tight that there is no escaping it from head to toe. It prescribes a 14-year jail term, without a fine option, for anyone involved in a gay marriage. Not only that. The law also slams a 10-year jail term without an option of fine on members of gay associations, gay clubs and all persons who engage in gay processions.
There are those who would want to break a law and willingly accept the punishment prescribed for that law.
I remember my friend, Wolfgang, who lived in a remote part of Munich, Germany. Wolfgang shared a common boundary with the Council authorities. On this boundary, there was a tree that the Council liked but which Wolfgang hated. He wanted to cut down the tree. They told him that if he brought down the tree they would send him to jail for three months. He did and they did. Wolfgang earlier informed us that he had accumulated his annual leave for thepurpose of going to serve a jail term for cutting down the tree. We sent him forth. This is also the limit of ethical autonomy.
Those who think that gay couples in Nigeria could escape under this, namely, contract the marriage, go to prison for 14 years, after which they will come and enjoy their marriage, should wait till theyhear the provisions of Section 5 (3) of the Bill: “Any person or group that witnesses, abets and aids same sex marriage shall be liable on conviction to a term of 10 years imprisonment”.
RomanceRe: He Deceived Me Into Marriage by olymurphy(op): 10:41am On Jun 04, 2013
Strangely, I was calm throughout the ordeal of being beaten up by the other woman, called names by her and thrown out. Though the children didn't join her, all telling her to stop misbehaving, my husband who initially was pleading with her, later summoned the courage to redeem whatever pride he had left.
It was a long while before sanity returned. Sheapologised for her temper but it didn't erase the mess I have found myself in. He has since relocated to Lagos. The people he brought to my family were hired.
Although he sends money, bought the house in pot-Harcourt for me, comes to spend the weekends with us, my mother is piling pressure on me to quit the marriage; that it is wrong to marry another woman's husband.
But my husband is insisting he won't let me go. I have attempted to terminate the pregnancy but it failed.
What do I do now? Your help is urgently needed.

RomanceHe Deceived Me Into Marriage by olymurphy(op): 10:38am On Jun 04, 2013
I am in my 40s, a second wife and stepmother to four children. Sincerely, whenI met my husband in Port-Harcourt, I didn't know he had a wife, let alone having children.
He gave me the impression that he was single. Although, I wasn't desperate for marriage, something about him communicated itself to me and before I knew it, I was pregnant. He didn't take me to any of his family members and when I mounted pressure on him as to when we would get married, he kept telling me soon.
My mother and siblings didn't like the arrangement one bit. They never liked him from the beginning for reason that became obvious to me later. From the day I introduced him to my mother, she told me to investigate him that he looked like a married man. When I protested that he wasn't, she asked why he wasn't married at that age. Irritated at what I termed undue interference, I told my mother to let my man and I be. That she should be happy that I was at least considering marriage, given the fact that all my younger ones were already married.
She wisely kept quiet but not before telling me that I would regret my decision.
I had a set of female twins. Still nobody came from his side to see me.
I also noticed that at a particular time of the day, he would either call a number or when some calls came in, he would excuse himself toanswer the calls. Whenever I asked him who he was calling or those calling him, he would tell me they were his business partners. He also didn't spend weekends or public holidays with me. He would always find an excuse to travel out of town. To keep me quiet, he brought some people home, he introduced as his parents. They apologised for their son's behaviour, went to see my people and chose a date for the wedding ceremony.
Two weeks after, they came with more people, paid my bride price and performed other marriage traditions. I was happy at the turn of events. Still my mother's attitude towards him didn't change. She kept insisting that what we did was fraud. She accused me of deliberately ignoring all warning signs because of fear of what I might find out should I investigate further. It was partly true. Despite the wedding, certain things still bothered me. Things got to a head during his annual leave last year. He deliberately kept the information from me but I found out when a friend of his called to know if he would be travelling duringhis leave.
It was through his friend I knew about the leave. I was shocked he didn't tell me about the leave but only informed me of his pending official journey to Yola for eight weeks. When Idemanded to know what he was up to, he said it was a working leave and that he has some unfinished assignments in Yola.
He left the next day without informing me of where exactly he was going to in Yola. He called later that day to inform me that he had arrived Yola and that he would be proceeding to a village where he cannot be reached. He promised to call me whenever he could.
Four weeks passed before he called to ask after his children and to know if we were okay. I told him we were missing him. He didn't bother to call until he came back. Naturally, I was livid with anger. I also did some investigations and discovered he wasn't on any working leave. That was all I got from his office.
None of them volunteered any more information. As a matter of fact, the secretary told me to go back home and wait for my husband, that she was only his secretary not his keeper.
It was too much for me to tolerate. So when he came I demanded to know what was happening, why he doesn't spend time with the children and I. He told me he was working hard to ensure we did not suffer in future.
Just before Christmas, I discovered I was pregnant again. When I told him, he was happy. I naively thought the news would keep him at home but, again, he told me he was travelling. Hurt, I told him we would all go together. That if he thought he would spend another Xmas away from home, he should have a rethink.
I locked us all in, threw the key out of the window during the period. I also damaged hissim card. I disconnected the land line so that he will not be able to call anybody to set him free from the prison I turned our home into. Although, I hid an extra key under the rug in our room, we spent Xmas in our apartment as my prisoner. He was angry; almost hitting me but I was past caring. It wasn't an ideal situation but it was better than nothing. At least, the children were happy to have their father at home.
That incident exposed my husband and shattered my world.
On the 31st of December, my world cracked with the arrival of a woman and four beautiful teenagers, two boys and girls.
I didn't need anyone to tell me who they were.Looking at the girls, it was like looking at my own set of twins. I told them to come in and went into the room to call my husband, who was too scared to come and confront his predicament.

CultureRe: Igbo Names & Their Meanings by olymurphy(f): 8:36am On May 30, 2013
Igbo names are mainly given due to circumstances surrounding the birth of the baby. For example I gave birth to my first daughter on valentine and I named her IFUNANYA meaning LOVE. then my second daughter is EBUBECHUKWUSOM meaning THE GLORY OF GOD IS WITH ME because I nearly lost her during childbirth and she was so very sick after that. my third baby were twin boys and I named them KAMSIYOCHUKWU meaning WHAT I BEGGED GOD and KOSISOCHUKWU meaning AND HE GAVE IT TO ME BECAUSE HE SO WISHES, because I've always wanted twin boys that was why I gave them the name.

I reside @ Onitsha. Last three wks there was power outage for one week in my area. And immediately the phcn restored the light, that same day they came to disconnect those who haven't paid their bills and they were beaten black and blue by boys in our area. Then they said that they are not going to give us light till three months time. But the youths asked them to extend it to six months. Since they saw that people were nonchalant they came for peace and asked us to go and pay our bils. But we said that we are going to start paying our bills on the condition that they will stop giving us estimated bill(₦7000-12000)for a month and we ve been paying ₦2000 per mth. Well I'll jst say for my area dem jst dey Bleep up cos I no dey watch big brother as I like cos nepa no dey. :p8-):@;>
